Okay well last night I kind of realized that I’m obsessed with fame. Not like in the “zomg I wanna be famous” way, but I’m really interested in analysing celebrities’ thoughts and feelings about their fans and stuff. It’s something I’ve always wanted to know and I wrote this little poem about speaking to a star. It doesn’t really flow or make any kind of logical sense at all. It’s more just random lines of thought.

The Fan and the Fame

Do you remember what it’s like?
To idolize someone. To think they’re the best.
To look up to someone who’s living your dream.
These people admire you.
They put your poster on their wall.
They’re the reason you are where you are.

When they meet you in the street, they scream.
You brush them off. It happens all the time.
To you, they’re just like the rest.
To them, you’re everything.

They want your autograph. They want your photo.
You want them to leave you alone.
They know everything about you. Your life is theirs.

I know you didn’t ask for all this.
You didn’t ask for the recognition, the fame.
It’s the same routine for you,
Sign this, sign that.
Take photo, receive gift.
You’re tough to handle it all.
I don’t think I could.

But there are still those fans.
They wait hours to get a glimpse of you.
Meeting you would mean the world to them.
You’re their inspiration.

What do you do?
What they want, or what you want?
They want to meet you.
You want some sleep.
They want to marry you.
You want your old life back.
You can’t please everyone,
But you try.

They sometimes forget you’re human.
They forget you feel, they forget you bleed.
They expect you to be some perfect god.
Someone will always be disappointed.

Remember what it was like
Before all this when you were living your life
With a dream. A dream you achieved.
Now you are people’s dream.

You’re just you.
But who are you?
