The Goggles digital correction does nothing!

Plus it was swiftly brought to my attention that a decent digital camera is about the price of a Wii. Dude, if I had the money for a Wii I'd own one already.

So I am settling for sucky photo-quality. This is not entirely good as I've got at least four WEWY paper children down the pipe-line before I get bored with this.

In the meanwhile, have a cheap quickie I did this morning.

Sadly, they say he's cheap and quick in other ways too. )

So a while ago [info]kaitou1412 had a birthday, as people tend to, and I didn't field anything for it. Well, I had planned one piece of art, but it was a bit random - which is to say it involved referencing this piece.

Eventually I came up with a better idea;

Fortunately for the rest of the Horticultural Club, Sophie knew just what to say to smooth over the social situation with the Giant. )

I swear I will cut this out any day now (mind, probably when Professor Layton arrives and I have something to distract me) - having run out of non-spoiler fanart ideas for WEWY, I decided to finish off a piece for its sister-franchise, Kingdom Hearts. This one's been sitting around as a half-finished piece of line-art since, hrm . . . October 2006?

It's been a while.

Don't I have a dissertation to work on? )

So, man, World Ends with You.

I actually finished it last Sunday but it took me until yesterday to finish off all the extra content in the replay.

And then I started to do fan-art, mostly to distract myself from the fact that I had run out of game.

Two images, no significant spoilers. )

Oh, The World Ends with You, you are so my new fandom boyfriend.

Even if you are insisting that everyone calls you WEWY, which is the most ridiculous nickname ever.

"The ghost in the shadows singing along with the radio"

I was looking at my tags the other day and realised I hadn't done a music post since December. Part of that is there's been very little new I've been listening to - I had meant to do an entire download post of love songs about robots for Black Day but it came and went and I was too busy to organise it.

Well, that and the list of love songs actually about robots is a bit short.

One of the candidates would have been Los Campesinos' "Death to Los Campesinos" . . . which is really more about wanting to be a robot.

Another would have been Royworld's "Man in the Machinery" . . . which isn't about robots either. It's your standard modern-alienation-due-to-technology thing - actually, one of the things I really love about Royworld is all their songs are a tad science geek. I first started paying attention to them with "Dust", a bitter-sweet, romantic take on all those radio-waves we've been spewing into space over the last century.

This is me making a music post, so an obligatory prog-rock entry would have gone here, but I couldn't find a playable link to Fightstar's "Last Common Ancestor". Which is more about robot-envy than robots.

About the only song that made the list which was actually about robots, come to think of it, was Pull Tiger Tail's "Let's Lightning" . . . and come to think of it that's really up to your interpretation. Plus I'm pretty sure I've recced that about twice already.

. . . As for music which I've been listening to in the past half-year that isn't about robots there's, um . . . Black Kids' "I'm not Going to Teach your Boyfriend How to Dance with You" and Laurel Collective's "Vuitton Blues". And that's about it.

Frankly, the only thing that really surprises me is that wasn't connected to the National Broadband Scandal in any way.

Possibly I love the crocodiles a little too much.

Ah, New York Comic-con. Con season is nothing but interesting.

The good news so far - Girl series! Power on-going!! Power Gaaahhh!@#(^%*%$%!!!!!!!

. . .

Power Girl is getting an on-going series. I am near incoherent with squee, it feels like they've moved my birthday to April.

The bad news so far - NYX is getting a second series.

I don't think Joe Quesada quite realises that [info]twigcollins is only about a three hour drive away.

My fancy as taken by languages as it is it's actually really nice to find out the name of the lead translator for Vagrant Story, who turns out to be responsible for a number of other really well localised ones.

Dear Seb Ohsan Berthelsen, I fangirl you so hard, Sir.

The news of Gary Gygax's death came as something of a surprise to me. You see, I thought he had died decades ago.

I don't mean that to sound like a slur against him, it's the opposite. I thought that because of the way people talked about him. Even when he was (it turns out) alive he always seemed like something mythic to me. By the time I began playing the RPGs and Tabletop Rollplaying Games he ancestored D&D was a venerable and ancient institution. His influence on Geek Culture is immeasurable and decades-spanning and, unlike our other heroes like Whedon or Lucas, he wasn't someone we had to share with the Mainstream, he was all ours.

As much as I make fun of people for buying overpriced cookies on Etsy I have to admit I have a history of buying equally overpriced and tiny amounts of chocolate.

. . . I keep thinking I should blog about the London Mayoral elections but then again it's not like anyone on my flist can vote in it.

As an E.T.A. to yesterday's Katamari post it turns out that the next level was, no lie, "cute things".

THEY'RE DOING IT ON PURPOSE, I SWEAR.

On a related topic, has anyone written a King of All Cosmos/Cthulhu Mythos crossover yet?

So I bought Me and My Katamari for my PSP.

The reviews were pretty much on spot about this one, there's nothing new or innovative about the gameplay compared to the first two games, but I don't actually own my own copies of those and it's got good replay value anyway. Plus the King of All Cosmos.

There's just one more problem. )

BBC2's broadcasting the Super Bowl live.

Why?

Nothing against American Football in this case, it's just that I always thought the Real Meaning of the Super Bowl was the half-time ads.
