I'm really annoyed at the number of times I've bought a DVD, and found they never deactivated the security device that prevents you opening the case.
I like this song.
Also, if I took all the cans of soda/soft drink/pop/whatever you deem it I've consumed in my life..
.. how big a suit of armour could I have built?

Oh man. So, out of boredom, I was on OKCupid, rereading some mail (eg the one I sent to
angstycat - man, I'm kinda glad she met me in person first!), and it does the "If you like X, you might like Y.."
And Y's picture has Jad and Priya in the background.
PERTH - BEAUTIFUL ONE DAY, TWO DEGREES OF SEPARATION THE NEXT

Well, that was fun, in an entirely sarcastic tone.
Coming down a wet hill, the light turns amber. Note this is close enough to the light as to be valid to continue on through.
But the car in front of me accelerates... then suddenly decides against this, braking sharply, and skidding down the hill.
Of course, because of this, I now have to plant my foot to the floor, skidding not only down the hill, but into the red light.
So I can expect a traffic violation fine sometime anywhere in the next six months, which I fully intend to contest.

Supposed sightings of a great white shark in a lake
This was the response:

But John West, Taronga Zoo's shark expert, said: "I think it's a hoax - great white's don't go into estuarine or lake systems.
"In all my knowledge on shark biology and behaviour, that's unlikely.
"It wouldn't even fit in that lake, I don't know how deep the entrance is but you'd need several metres for a shark that big to get into it.
"A large shark like that would stick out like dog's balls."

Day 1 was very good; my manager was ill, so we mostly familiarised ourselves with the centre, did some stationary purchasing, etc.

So I guess I should do a rundown of the past few weeks, since they've been pretty hectic.
First things first - I got the job! Last Monday I told my manager I would not be renewing my contract (since logically, it would only lead to more complications if I did get another job offer), and Tuesday, I got a call informing me I was being offered the position of Education Officer for the Eco Education Centre (for City of Canning, which is local government). I have to do a little preliminary training, but then I'll have only a 15 minute walk to my office, overlooking a stretch of native bushland and river. And my starting salary is $60,000. Which is an incredibly large step up from my museum pay. I start the new position next Monday, so I've had today and will have tomorrow to myself. It's not a terribly big break, but I've never been given proper holidays in any job I had, so I have to take and enjoy what little I get.
I'm currently housesitting up in Greenwood for my coworker Sandy, who is in New Zealand. Her dog is mostly behaving himself. I didn't have my car though for the shift up here (more below). Luckily,
angstycat picked me and my gear up (it's only about ten minutes drive from her new house) and I've been here since. It's a very cold house though, and the only heater is (fortunately) in the master bedroom. It's a toasty 30C in there right now.. shame the PC is down in coldsville. :S
My car situation.. oy. So I took it to the transmission place Tuesday morning, after it acted up Monday evening (and also over the weekend). They couldn't find anything, but in driving it around, it spazzed out badly - they tried an engine diagnostic test, which was blinking like a Xmas tree. So, down the road to this other guy, who I left it with after explaining I would need it for Friday. Now, he needed longer to fix it, and he did - but there was NO reaching him. His phone rang out all *15* times I tried calling over a few days. In the end, we had to pin a note to his gate. I got a call Monday to say it was fixed - four separate things needed repairs. So, $360 later, the car is seemingly in good health again. But ugh, so much mental stress - I was trying to think and rethink how to get things done sans car, or how to get out there in time from the city (the mechanic was practically at my own home), and back again..
Anyway. Today, ducked out to the store, bought some flowers, and took them to
angstycat's as a special surprise for when she got off work :)

Well, I got the new job. Starting seventh of the seventh, I'll be the Education Officer in charge of the eco education centre for the City of Canning.
So, I give you this. Yes, it's big. No, I'm not putting it behind the cut.
This is for all of you, my friends.

Thanks for being my speed metal butterfly.

My car is being a douche again. Same problem as before. Gonna make driving to the other side of the city later in the week to go housesitting a LOT more difficult if they can't find and fix it.
MORE FODDER FOR MY GENGHISCON PRESENTATION:
"Pigleg, a character from the animated series The Tick, is mentioned, placing the two shows in the same universe. Jackson Publick wrote for the Tick, and Tick creator Ben Endlund writes for the Venture Brothers."

Haven't said much of late. Earlier this week, I helped
angstycat move into her new house, which included one little cat going mental and freaking out. At the end of this week, I'll be housesitting for a coworker for just over a week. Not sure what my web-access will be like - she has broadband, but not sure if I'll be able to get my machine up and running on her connection.
Was meant to go to a party last night for
haircaspian and Laura, but my car decided to fuck up AGAIN. Note that a few months ago, I took it, got the problem fixed. It started doing it intermittently recently. Yesterday, I couldn't get it out of first gear. Of course, this means it'll be hard to get it to the place to be fixed, since I'd have to take it in a 70 zone to get there. :S Plus, it may not even DO the fault again - therein lies half the problem. They test it, it shows nothing, I go home, it acts up again a few days later. So, to bring the story back together, I gave myself a headache with tension, so had to bail on the party. Slept a few hours, which eased it off.
This afternoon, Mum, Bruce and I are going to
angstycat's to strategise building an undercover area in the yard to both reduce the cost of enclosing her yard for the cats, and to serve as an entertaining area. While there, we may try to fix some other odds and ends that need doing soon, like the showerhead.
Also, I decided not to renew my work contract for the two month period from July 3rd, meaning soon I may be quite unemployed again. All I can tell you about the job I was trying for (Education Officer for an eco education centre) is that they're having real troubles choosing which of the three applicants they interviewed, so they went to the referees - it's almost a week and a half since we were meant to find out. I can only hope this bodes well.

God, I'm tired. Got up at 4:30am to take my mother to work, while her car is being used by my sister.
