What You Wish For - Part One
Thanks go out, again, to [info]danceswithwords for all her beta help. The last two chapters are all me, so you can't blame her for any possible lameness.

I really appreciate anyone who still wants to read this. And, though she may not want it, this is for [info]eurydice72 for all the wonderful things she's done for the fandom.

Holy Frell!
I knew there would be fannish things to pull me out of my lurker mode. They're probably things that everyone else already knows about, but I was blow away.

1. Farscape is doing webisodes?!? If John and Aeryn are in them, I'm so there. I'm most likely there even if they're not, though. (And thanks to [info]sdwolfpup for inadvertently cluing me into that one.)

2. James Marsters is playing an omnisexual character on Torchwood. I wonder if he's buff again...

3. David Duchovny says the X-Files 2 movie might really happen! Though I'll believe it when I hear they're actually filming.

4. Don't faint or anything, but I spent Sunday finishing that ancient WIP of mine, "What You Wish For". If anyone is still interested in reading it, I'm going to post it in three parts in my next three entries, starting at the beginning. I did revise certain bits. Sheesh. I go away for months and now I'm spamming you!! Truth is, though, I can't remember where I've archived this and I also can't remember how to update my website, so this is pretty much the only place to read it. How pathetic is that?

The reason I went back to the WIP after over a year is that I spent the other evening watching S7 of Buffy--or at least all my favorite parts of S7. Through the wonders of the DVD fast-forward button, never again do I have to hear Spike say, "No you don't. But thanks for saying it." Phooey on that! I still say Buffy is so totally telling him the truth! *plugs shipper-happy ears*

On a personal note, hubby took our two girls to Colorado for a week, so it's been just me and the dog here for the last nearly six days. I *loved* the peace and quiet and the opportunity to blast the sound on my DVDs, but I'll be very glad to see all three of them when I pick them up at the airport tonight.

Hope everyone is having a happy Monday.

Hi
Sometimes I think the only reason I post is to let folks know I'm still alive. I feel so out of step with everyone!

Anyway, we adopted a puppy from the SPCA two weeks ago. He's a shepherd mix and is going to be MUCH larger than we initially thought. The SPCA thought he was 6 months old, but our vet thinks he's closer to 4 months--and he already comes up to my knee. What with the potty training and the puppy-proofing of the house, etc., I feel like I have another child to take care of. That coupled with hubby being in London for 11 days (he left only two days after we got Dylan (the dog)), I'm pretty frazzled. And bloody tired. But Dylan's really cute. See for yourself... )

I'm not too tired to watch British TV, though!! I'm so very in love with Life on Mars (even though it's over :(), Robin Hood (my HUGE guilty pleasure), and Doctor Who, though I still miss Rose incredibly. I know it's a strange thing for those who've watched the show from the very beginning, but I'm so very pleased that the Doctor mentions Rose like he does. It does my little shippy heart good. Martha seems very likable--though I wish she'd quit throwing herself at the Doctor. It's damn irritating.

Hubby got back from London yesterday, and he brought me a Rose action figure!! See? He still loves me. ;)

Hugs to all--and a hugely belated, but very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dear [info]poshcat. I hope you're feeling better, sweets. Hopefully it'll help to know that I can identify completely. Much love.

Off to the slopes
It's spring break here this week, starting today, and we're off to New Mexico for several days of skiing. The girls have never skied before--and hubby and I haven't gone skiing since K was barely 2, so hopefully we'll be able to get them into ski school and will all have a blast. We need it!

Did you all hear that the editor I pitched to at WriterCon--the one who asked to see my manuscript--quit not only Tor, but publishing altogether? Lovely news, huh? But then I learned from [info]spikewriter that the RWA (Romance Writers of America) conference is going to be right here in Dallas in July. So I take that as a sign that I still need to get this book finished and ready--and now I have a deadline.

So, who's going to this conference with me? :)

I don't believe the place we're going to has Internet access, so I wish you all a great week. Much love to you, my lovely friends.

Just checking in
So, I weighed in today (doing the Weight Watchers thing again)and I've lost 11.4 lbs. What am I doing to celebrate even though I have about 30 more to go? Having pizza for dinner! Damn right I am. And I'm gonna LOVE every bite.

My book club is going to read my novel, which, I think, will be a big help. I honestly forget what I've written and get tired of rereading the whole thing. Maybe they'll turn into a group like Jennifer Cruisie's Cherries! Heh.

And [info]danceswithwords is coming to Texas! Just for a short business trip, but I'm going to drive over to Ft. Worth and take her out to dinner. I am beyond excited. It's very nearly ridiculous how excited I am.

How are you?

We're baaack
A belated but very Happy Birthday to the wonderful [info]_jems_. Hope you had a lovely day and were deluged with presents of all kinds.

We're home from Wisconsin, where we got many wonderful presents, but no snow at all. HUGE disappointment, not just for the girls, but for me as well. Now that I almost never see snow, I miss it! I'd be cured of that quickly, I'm sure, if I were living there again. :)

Right before we left I got a fantastic present from [info]molly_may, an I Read Banned Books bracelet. It is so very cool and I thank you greatly, my friend.

I also got lovely (and funny) cards from [info]asta77, [info]red_sunflower, and [info]sdwolfpup and a stack of virtual presents from [info]eyesthatslay. Thanks so much for thinking of me! Asta, I actually did send you something, though I'm afraid your mom might have gotten it/them for you already. *sheepish grin*

My parents have pre-ordered series two of Doctor Who for me, plus they got us new nightstands, which go really well with the headboard they bought last year. It's nice to have grown-up-type gifts mixed with pure fun ones.

Speaking of Doctor Who, I saw The Runaway Bride )

The girls are off for a whole 'nother week. Pray for my sanity. And I'm not completely kidding.

Happy New Year. Here's hoping 2007 brings more good things than bad.

Safe and happy holidays, everyone.
We're leaving for Wisconsin this morning. It's a two-day trip, but we have a DVD player in the car ("the paralyzer", my husband calls it), I'll have my laptop so I can listen to The Stone Rose (thank you again, [info]scarlettgirl!) and my novel is downloaded onto it, so perhaps I'll even get some writing done. Plus I'm bringing my The Office DVDs to watch all over again with my sister (I'm completely caught up now and loved the Christmas episode). Together, we can emit many fangirly sighs over Jim. Heh.

It'll be good to get out of the house right now. At least for a little while.

Now if it would only snow while we're there!

Happy Holidays, everybody. And a fantastic new year.

Gratuitous Thanking Post
I am blessed with some truly wonderful friends. Yesterday I watched the entire first season of The Office (well, it's only six episodes, but still!), thanks to [info]danceswithwords, who is always entirely too generous with me. I love her so and I LOVED The Office! Michael makes me shake my head constantly, I look at Dwight through my fingers and I'm all swoony over Pam and Jim. I get it now! :D

Then I got wonderful books in the mail today from [info]molly_may in the biggest damn manilla envelope I've ever seen (hee!). I NEED these books, my dear friend, so triple the thank yous to you. Thankyouthankyouthankyou!

I've also gotten cards from [info]sdwolfpup and [info]jamalov29, virtual balloons from [info]downunderdeb, a big stack of virtual prezzies from [info]cindergal (THANK YOU, CINDY!) and birthday greetings from more of you lovely people than I can count. I know I've been scarce around here for the last few months, so I'm very grateful people remember my name, let alone my birthdate. Even if it is part of my user name. Heh. Original, huh?

The only downside... )

THANK YOU ALL!

Snow in TEXAS in NOVEMBER
I tell you, y'all. It just doesn't snow here in Texas in November (even if it was the last day of the month, it was still November!). But yesterday, it did. Even stranger? It hasn't melted yet!

picture proof )

Happy Holidays to all! Our Thanksgiving was very quiet. I cooked, the kids and hubby did their version of cleaning the house, and my mother-in-law joined us. The food was good, I'm happy to report. :)

Television-wise, I'm watching more shows this year than I have in forever. Heroes, Veronica Mars, House, Lost, Grey's Anatomy and Battlestar Galactica are all on my DVR timer. Or they were before they all started taking their winter break thing. I'm far too lazy to write about them all, though. I will say ...*spoilers* )

Hopefully I'll post more than once this month. I think November was an all-time low for me. Will wonders never cease?

One last thing. We were having dinner last night when K (my 8-year-old) announced that she prays every night to God for all of us to be healthy and happy and to Santa not to bring her all the toys she wants since she's so spoiled already (her words!). I laughed and asked if she really prays to Santa (we are not regular church-goers at all, but this idea kind of horrified me). She said, "No. I pray to God and then he tells Santa." My husband and I nearly died. And then they all told me not to put that in my blog. HEEEEE!!!!

ETA: Have you all seen the new Spuffy archive Elysian Fields? It's lovely.

Tuesdays are good
Except when they're the day after the disaster that was the Packers/Eagles game (and thanks for not gloating, [info]cindergal ;)). Oh my dear Pack, you do make still loving you a very large challenge. I'm at the point where I wish Brett had retired two seasons ago. He doesn't need the aggravation of a rookie team. *sigh*
