3:57 pm - Looking for a housemate again.
My rent has gone up and one of the housemates is bailing. I’ve had house related stress and bother for months which had made me ill and frankly I am fed up with it all. I love this house and am about to put a lot of time and money into making it even nicer.

Located in Stoke Newington on the edge of Hoxton, Shoreditch and Islington on a quiet road behind Stoke Newington High Street.

It’s a lovely Victorian Terrace house. Has a large kitchen, living room, dining room, bathroom, downstairs loo, cellar and a garden.
The room is a good sized double room with a window overlooking the garden. 3.5 x 3 meters

Cable TV (Virgin), 10MB wireless broadband, landline, shared iMac and an Xbox. Bills currently come to about £100 a month. Rent is £466 pcm which is very good considering Stoke Newington is a desirable area, near to Dalston Kingsland Overground Station, Rectory Road Station and has very good bus links (20 mins to Angel)

No cats (my rats won’t like them), people who can’t afford it or untidy freaks. We have had a lot of changes recently due to people moving in who then decide they cannot afford it. Please make sure you can afford £570 a month for rent and bills before contacting me.

Thanks

12:16 pm - Attention: Geek Friends!
I’m currently working on a project where mobile phone and Blackberry accounts are being transitioned to O2.

We have a recurring problem with Blackberrys not unlocking with the code provided by Vodafone. Anyone know of a solution?

Hardly any of my clothes fit me properly anymore (blame 3x a week in the gym). So I’ve been selling a few things on Niceboots and have now dropped the prices a fair bit. Anyone in London can try stuff on and get £2 off as I don’t have to post anything or use Paypal.

Lots of stuff size 10-16.
Paypal preferred but will accept a cheque or bank transfer. UK postage and Paypal fees included.

Anyone going to be at Xandria tonight, or fancy keeping me entertained at The Dev (it’s going to be full of crazy J-Rock people)?

10:44 am - Stand Up, Stand Out
I really need to say how pleased I am with the BBC’s coverage of the Sophie Lancaster case. They’re definitely earning their license fee off me this year. Last night they said ‘Goth’ on the Radio 4 news and the coverage on the website has been brilliant. Apart from one niggle where they keep stating they were attacked for ‘dressing like Goth’s’ rather than for ‘being Goths’. When I first heard about the case I thought the people involved were more ‘mosher’ wannabe Goth types. I never expected them to actually be ‘one of us’. i.e Whitby going types. Not that it made a difference but I think that’s why it has affected me so much. Some of the news reports have almost reduced me to tears because I can easily empathize with the people involved.

I’ve been in a few scary situations for the way I look. I’ve been threatened by men in the street, just because I look different and have been hit a few times, as have my friends. I know others who have suffered worse. Verbal abuse is something I’m so used to, I’m almost oblivious to it (a bit like not hearing the planes, when you live under a flight path). I’m not surprised by what has happened, really it was just a matter of time.

To be perfectly honest I agree with what I read elsewhere on LJ that the Hate Crime petition should not be necessary, as it should be a crime to attack someone for any reason, be it verbally for physically (however I have signed it to stand up for other Goths). Hopefully the publicity will lead to more tolerance towards us Goth types. Robert Maltby is a mature, intelligent, articulate individual and a perfect example to the public of what us Goths are really like. Yes, many of us get pissed and mess about, but we don’t harm society, keep to ourselves and generally go to work and pay taxes.

I am currently having trouble finding work because I keep applying for roles I am more than capable of in companies, who reject my corporate goth image (Which is very much toned down from how I look in Slimes!). This publicity is giving me encouragement to not conform and give in. Goths have a different outlook on life and the guts to be themselves, stand out and be proud of it. Surely that is an asset to any company and society as a whole?
