I am Even misreading, or misinterpreting the news headlines isn't intertaining today. Cheney to receive heart treatment ; but doc's fear pure evil can not be removed. Stars urge Americans to vote ; After all, if Tom Cruise can figure out how to read the listed names, so can you. Club manager 'smelt gas from car' ; So he took his club and smote the car mightly The inquest heard Brazilian Mr de Menezes, 27, was killed in a "calm and controlled" way as he got on the tube. ; 7 bullets to the head calm. They had no photo of the guy they were tracking, they didn't see which door de Menezes came out of, they had no okay from 'chaotic' head quarters, they had the okay to shot anyone they wanted, they didn't care if the guy was carrying a rutsack, and they edited their report taking out vital information. yeah. calm and controlled. Police may get more data powers after all, it can't just be the MOD losing personal, public data. |

Not bad guesses on my previous poll about my eye problems. But you are ALL wrong - the answer was 4. Dandruff. (aka BLEPHARITIS) yeah, thats right. he said I had eye dandruff, and to use baby shampoo to clean my eyes twice a day. One problem, i felt, was that they didn't get any test results from the optometrist I'd visited that started this. So, they had no base line, nor the name or results of any tests already taken. They also didn't do the test that I'd failed at the optometrist, even though I mentioned it. I also mentioned the swollen optical nerve, which he found no evidence of. Eye dandruff, ffs. Can you get a second opinion with NHS? |

I had an eye doc apt about 2 months ago. I was referred to a hospital for follow up due to some irregularities. So, the new glasses i got then are really good for two things; reading and walking into walls. They're supposed to be good for everything. I use my old glasses for 'everything' or i go without glasses period. I feel like I have less eye strain if I go without glasses while on the computer. When i had that appointment, they did a couple of tests. First, she said one optic nerve was larger than the other, but she couldn't tell which was swollen. I accepted that at the time, but honest to god - the larger one is (i'm going out on a limb here) the LARGER one. Even at the time I kind of felt she just didn't want to tell me, for some reason. Then she gave me two flashy light thingy tests. The first one went okay, but the second... Well, she said "you missed a few". Having gone through one already, I knew how the test went. If you can classify '80-90%' missed as 'a few', yeah, okay. Today I go to the hospital for a few more tests. When i was younger, I used to ask myself; if I had a disability, which would you prefer NOT to have. At the time, i never thought of COPD, as at the time, I don't even think that was listed as a disability. I though, at the time, of two disabilities; blindness and diabetes. Diabetes was totally out - and still is - because of needles. I have a phobia about needles. And having just recently had to test for diabetes, i know the needles have gotten better, but I'll be damned if thats anything i EVER want to do on a daily bases. The blindness I was 50/50 on. I knew i would function okay with blindness. Better than deafness, i thought. Although I think now I'd rather be deaf than blind, but this is back then. The problem with blindness, is almost EVERYTHING I do is sight related. It was then, and it is now. I don't think I'm going blind, but there are problems. I've worn glasses since i was four years old. I'm used to them. I'm used to getting new glasses every year or two. I think the last 3 pairs I've gotten were crap - I though they were because I was getting them in the UK, rather than the US. Now, I think, maybe not. Well, we'll find out some info today, I hope. Wish me luck! |

Why is it, in the BBC news, when there is a suspicious death news article.... at the very end of the report, it says; The coroner has been informed. This always implies to me, that sometimes, the coroner isn't informed? Or is it dummied down info, just to let the reader know, yes, normal procedure, that we all assume, is indeed being carried out? Maybe they should also say; (on same suspicious death news article) The police has been informed. I should fucking hope so, jeeze This must be one of those things where American's and English are speaking different languages. |

Someone help me out with Sir Patrick Moore. Now, I know he's speaking English...no. I assume he's speaking English, but that's only because the 1 word out of 10 I'm actually understanding happens to be English. I don't have that much trouble understanding English accents any more - I'm even pretty good at knowing who's English and who's Australian (which I couldn't do before coming to England)... but I am TOTALLY stumped at Sir Patrick Moore. There are several English accents. Does anyone have some examples they can show me of the different kinds of accents? How many accents does England have? and which accent does Sir Patrick display so... excellently? |

Shahhe saw her first squirrel the other day. Shahhe; freezes at window. squirrel; sitting on ground, eating seed. Shahhe; slinks out of window. squirrel; continues eating seed. shahhe; takes one, slow, step. squirrel; magically appears on top of fence, eating seed. shahhe; freezes. squirrel; flicks tail shahhe; blinks... it continued like this until the squirrel left. shahhe just didn't know what to make of it, other than the fact it was lunch, getting away. I'm feeling a little better. At least now, I don't wake up with snot in my eyes. Still a little tight in the chest from the cold, but thats pretty normal. I'm really enjoying 'Medium'. Soooo much better than 'Ghost Whisper'. Kind of like comparing real life with purple unicorns sitting under sparkily rainbows. Although i did 'guess' the end several times, there were enough twists in it to keep my interest. Although, at least in season one, i got to say; there ARE occasions when kids get along. Come on, real life isn't CONSTANT conflict. Yeah, good for story advancement, but bad for wanting to watch the next season. The Lion King is lamer than I remember lol, but still a great kids movie. And that brings up a question I've always wondered. WHY do kids like movies with songs in them so much? At least, Disney thinks they do, cause most all their animated movies are more songs, than dialogue. I mean, honestly, do kids need a song every 5 minutes or they lose interest? So, why songs? It was making me mental. |

I bought some oldies but goodies from play.com today. first off, one of my all time favorite movies, Coneheads. I so can't wait for that one to arrive! One movie that hubby never saw; The Lion King - I looked at him like he'd grown two heads. How can anyone not seen Lion King? and trying out an unknown; 'Medium' in the undying hope that someone will make a good 'ghost' type story. |

waste of time. get there, wait an amazingly short time in A&E (the original doc was there, saw me, and shuffled me through in seconds)... an hour later, found out that was a bad move, and went back and checked in proper. They then attempted to get me into xray - but whatever the hold up, an hour later, gave up and shuffled me into a very nice room for waiting, it had nice padded chairs, where i waited another 2 hours. I planned ahead and took a book. They finally admitted they couldn't get me in because the type of xray i needed was a specialty field, and the guy who does them had the day off. but they'd get me an appointment, for either friday or monday.... yet another hour later, they still hadn't managed that. when politely asked what was up, hey, i can do british polite, they said i could go and they'd call me with the appointment. that was 7 hours ago, and as you can imagine, i'm not holding my breath. But we know it wasn't a blood clot, so, ech, who cares. |

The mystery of the left leg... I made some doctors day today, by presenting a mystery. The left leg gave every indication of a blood clot - except for the blood clot. Blood tests came back negatory, little buddy. The swelling, the pain points, the dimpling, the lack of redness, the lack of bruising... it all added up to - nothing they could pin down. It didn't make sense, and the doctor who got my case was all a twitter. He practically rubbed his hands and glowed. Tomorrow I go back for another test, were they check the veins and see what they're doing. Looking, they tell me, for a torn muscle (or the elusive blood clot). Torn muscle makes sense, as i climbed about a GIZZION stairs less than a week ago. But, using the same logic, a blood clot was possible, as I dont get out much, and all that activity after not being active, could just as easily thrown a blood clot. Well, find out tomorrow, i guess. |

guess i should at least make a nod to the day. HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY, TO ME! I still plan on doing some hang gliding, but the weather isn't conductive to it. Will probably have to wait until spring or summer. But I'll still be 50, so it still counts! seems like any other day, really. A friend from germany is visiting this week, and we've been doing stuff. we went to madam tussaud's a couple of days ago. If you're planning to go to the london version of madam's don't bother. They've got photographers up every few feet that will take your picture - for a fee. and they have a rather lame 'disneyland' type ride, which also takes your picture. for a fee. and they are charging like 25 quid to get in. they attempt to squeeze as much money out of you as they can. Four battery's cost £10. and the manikins are.... not that special. And, at least on the day we went, their disabled elevator was out. If you have any trouble with stairs, you'll be in trouble. There are HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of stairs. Yes, it damn near killed me. today, we're going to british museum, which i always love. They have free wheelchairs ;) I just found out hubby has never seen The Lion King, so i got to keep an eye out for a copy of that. Cheers, all! |

My pirate name is: Captain Anne Flint ![]() Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. 1 1 buck 1,000,000 1m 100,000,000 100m 100,000,000,000 1b 438,000,000,000 438 billion. pah! pennies! All governement's work negative. It's not like they have any intention of paying off their foreign loans. (why do I hear Dubbya's voice saying "Print more money, thatall take care of it."?) They're saying perhaps, just maybe, the US is heading into a recession. And, with the global warming theme playing in the back ground, I have Grapes of Wrath and the Dust Bowl stuck in my head. Let's look at this in macro. If I owed 438 thousand dollars, and I didn't have the money to pay it, I would be in jail. What do they tell people who rack up debts and can't pay? Cut up your credit cards and pay cash. Grass roots action here! I say, the pres, military, congress and the house each get a bank account. They each get say, "10 billion", hot off the printing press. They write a check, just like any other working slob, for anything they want. And if the account goes negative, they pay a fine. And when the account goes too far negative, like $50.00 (they got SHIT credit, no big overdraft for them!) they pay a daily fee, just like any other bank account. And if after a week of not paying that fee, the account is frozen until they do. So, no money in account - no spending. Their kids go hungry. The dog gets the left over bone, not the 'meaty bone'. They lose their 'house', if they aren't careful. They got to decide if the new security system is more important than feeding the baby. And if having gas heating is more important than paying for a gardener. and they would be the first government in world history, not to be in debt. |

Science Fiction The LHC is so scientifically advanced, so cool looking, so far reaching, that it lands square into 'science fiction' for me. And I'm here, living it. That's so totally cool. They don't really know what's going to happen. "We will be looking at what the Universe was made of billionths of a second after the Big Bang..." hum. they don't know exactly whats going to happen. 1 billionth of a second after the big bang... you know. I doubt the entire sequence of the 'big bang' finished in less than a second. just an uneducated guess, mind you. so. um. what if... (basic science fiction writers question)... what if... it goes and alien archaeologist come across this picture buried in some computer somewhere, on the smoking, charred remains of a tiny, used to be living, planet? ![]() what would they say, I wonder. |
