Quick Update is Quick.

I. Got a job FINALLY. I'm basically a glorified babysitter, but instead of bratty 6-year-olds, I'm dealing with bratty 6th graders as a TA for one of those SAT academy places. I help them with their homework, check it over sort of thing, but mostly sit there and twiddle my thumbs. $12/hr though, so no complaining here. 8]

II. I'm already sick of school and it's only been a week. CalPoly's system of getting priority registration is six kinds of stupid though--I've been in class for TWO days and you want me to send in my winter schedule tomorrow? WITH MY ADVISOR'S SIGNATURE?! Ugh.

III. ANGELS WON, FINALLY, WHOO \o/ (uh, sorry to the Red Sox fans on my f-list? If there are any of you out there?)

College has finally started and I have an essay to start on already. I'm pretty tired right now, and really, have no idea why. College is just like high school except I don't know anyone, it's too big to walk and it has more trees (which is good, I guess).

Didn't get to watch the whole debate, but I saw enough to have justification to say lolMcCain.

I probably have other things that I was planning to say, but I've forgotten them already, so eh.

Shit, so my college suddenly changed teachers on me for my English class about a day after I bought the books, never even thinking of alerting me or anyone else about it. And now apparently this teacher wants a whole new set of books that are completely different, ugh. And apparently I'm a sophmore in college because of my AP stuff, wtf. So weird. It's not like I'll graduate any earlier though due to all of the GE reqs I need to fill (like my AP Bio filled the science credit, but not the science lab credit, ugh, so I'll have to take the class anyway).

Oh, plus I've learned why people are always flipping me off when I drive, my speedometer is 5mph slow, so when it says I'm going 50 I'm going 45.

Downloading Witch Hunter Robin, so hopefully that'll cheer me up.

I'm ticked at my college right now for suddenly switching my prof. for one of my classes who is now asking for a completely different set of books right after I ordered my first set, but other than that life is [boring, but] good. \o/

Finally updated oligopoly oh my gawd, SO PROUD OF MYSELF. :') Am now working on a batch of Muppet icons because I've rediscovered my love for them through the magic of youtube.

Anyway, went to the Los Angeles library system's central branch today which is HUGE and has like 6 stories, but is very, very pretty and awesome for the most part. It's odd though, even with six stories I couldn't find even half the books I was looking for (they were all checked out, I think), but I did get a book titled Well-Behaved Women Seldom Make History which has been pretty interesting so far. Went to Porto's afterwards which is always fabulous and have since been trying to play Harvest Moon on my DS, but failing miserably. :3

SHIT. THEY'RE GOING TO RUIN IT.

Fox Atomic taps JT Petty for 'Goth'

For those who don't I absolutely love the manga "Goth" (thus the LJ interest which unfortunately leads to mostly emo kids) even though it can get pretty damn twisted. However with the summary for the movie's story being, "Described as a gothic love story, the project revolves around two high school teens from opposite sides of the tracks who are forced to come together to take down a serial killer in their hometown," it's pretty much a given now that they're screwing it up good since that summary sounds like they're trying to make it into some kind of dark!coming together of the classes!mystery flick aimed at emo kids. The story is nowhere even close to that--for one thing the narrator keeps trying to kill off the girl that accompanies him on these adventures. How are they going to explain the very first story ("Wristcut")? :|

Granted, there IS a story with a serial killer featured in it, but I don't know how they're going to get the ending of that one past the raters since I mean, the narrator just lets the serial killer walk away scott-free. Plus the fact that the girl steals one of the brutally murdered victims clothes and pretends to be her for fun. I mean, the characters decide to look into the case because they're curious about murders, not out of some sense of civic duty. Ugh. :(

LOLPALIN.

(Okay, maybe not. I don't like her at all, it's bad enough that they're going to try to pull for the ~HISTORIC WOMAN IN POWER~ angle, but I mean, at least get a woman with some experience? The likelihood of something incapacitating McCain in office [heart attack, Alzheimer's, whatever] is very high and she has no experience on a national level. If you're going to bash Obama about ~no experience~ I mean, at least get someone who's served as a senator or representative, geez.)

In other semi-related news, Obama's speech yesterday was all kinds of epic. I'm a little facepalm-y at the thought of "clean coal," but THANK GOODNESS, he acknowledged offshore drilling for what it is--not a long term solution.

Dangit Muppets. Stop making me fall in love with you so much. I love new content I've never seen before. ♥

- I've been thinking of getting a radically different haircut, but have been too lazy about it. :(

Holy shit, earthquake anybody? I live in Walnut which is pretty damn close to Chino Hills, so I'm a little bit shaken (pun not intended), but luckily it seems like all of my family and friends are okay. One of them at the epicenter (chino hills) still has contacted me yet, so hopefully everything's alright, but I'm sure it's not too bad.
