What was the guy referring to when he said that? Not sure I get the reference.
Also, what do you mean by "playing on a single bullet"? Context clues aren't helping me any here.
The guy had seen Paul Phillips play on the WPT but didn't put it together that the guy who called with the ass-end of the straight on the WPT and the guy he was playing with at the Mirage super (who had a distinct resemblance to the sucker from the WPT) were one and the same person....Paul Phillips.
"Playing on a single bullet" means only spending the initial buyin for the supersatellite, without rebuying or adding on. Shane
I just couldn't remember an episode of the WPT when Paul had the sucker straight, so I wasn't sure if the guy thought he was someone else. I vaguely remember now, I think it was his first appearance (Bike) rather then his second and more memorable appearance (Bellagio).
Thanks.
I must be missing something... why would a player voluntarily show his hole cards?
People do that all the time, especially at small/friendly stakes. If it's not clear I meant they showed the aces after I'd folded.
Paul,
FWIW I see your point with the tipping situation. Seems though that the tips have been dispersed and Stars can't really ask for the additional tips, right?
Seems justified that you're pushing the issue to me.
And hey, I like watching you on television. Sure, the mistakes chase you forever but so does the glory, the gloooorrrrrryyy!
Once again, I commend you for sticking up for the poker community. There is no players' union, so it's easy for tournament directors or staff to just say "you should tip x amount," to someone who just won more than they ever had before. Anyone who disagrees with you is clueless. That said, it sounds like a great final table. Hoyt, Daniel, and Gus -- to the poker world, those are first names like Madonna and Cher. (unfortunately Paul "P" carries the extra letter.) Will any of this final table be televised. Good luck Paul.
I don't think you're the bad guy, but I'm not sure why you won't let this go. It doesn't matter if you're right or wrong. You're asking the general public to take a leap of faith and believe you, without providing hard facts and without public support from those involved.
Sounds like Hoyt, Daniel and Gus can't make any public statements, as they may have too much to gain on Pokerstars. I'm pretty sure Hoyt was in the this Sunday's Pokerstars $500 Tournament final table, and Daniel has come out with a public statement commending Pokerstars. So, they may not be able to say anything. I feel that you should drop this -- let it go -- it's a lost hand -- don't lose your entire stack over it! Cheers Ibyte
I have no idea what you mean. I related what happened, and I answered followups. It's not like I'm spending my days picketing the pokerstars offices.
My friends and I, seem to get hung up about things when we believe we are right and we're not getting the desired feedback. I have no idea whether or not you've gotten hung up about this issue, but it felt like it when you mentioned talking to Hoyt about it, and then posting in your journal.
It's just a friendly push-back, as I would with my friends. I do think you have the "aces/best hand" in this issue, but I believe it's not one which can be won, especially since those involved have not come out publicly and supported you. I'm really not sure why I've chosen to respond on a topic which I really shouldn't get hung up about. Seems like I should be letting this go. Anyways, I know I'd love to have you in my corner! Sorry about hassling you on this. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
