I think I missed something here...
Just got back from a viewing of the new flick Troy...and...uh...well, okay, I'll start by saying it could've been better...the score didn't quite match the action sometimes and the dialogue was FAR too modernized...but...uh...
...okay, here'e my problem, mates. Briseis is with Achilles, right? He just killed dozens upon dozens of her countrymen AND at his order, her temple was sacked and her fellow priests killed AND Achilles himself beheaded the statue of the god she had sworn her service to. Okay...that known...what was up with her putting the knife to his throat...then getting him to say that he'll kill even more people if she doesn't kill him...and then HAVING SEX WITH HIM?!?!?!?
REWIND THAT!?!?
He DEFILED her temple, KILLED her countrymen, and she gets all hot for him? HUH?!?!
This is what I call Padme syndrome...you know, like how Padme listened to Anakin going off about how he's going to be so powerful and that people should be forced to think alike and stuff and she got all hot for him?
At what point, sister, do you simply say, "A'ight. My standards are higher than this. I will NOT have sex on the first night with the invaders of my land/slayers of my people/defilers of my temple."
Or, when do you say, "Gee, Annie, you know...you're a freak. Okay? Shut up. You're cute and all, but dang, boy...you are a SOCIOPATH!" I mean, he slaughtered a whole village of Tuskan Raiders...then cries about it...and Padme is all like "There there, sweetcheeks, you know I love you..."
I think that, had I known in high school what I know now, I'd have had a lot more dates to the prom...
"Hey, Jennifer. I just burned your neighborhood to the ground and sacked the convent where you went to Catholic School as a child...wanna go to the prom with me?"
"You needn't ask!"
Maybe I missed something. Is this the NEW chivalry?
Current Mood: Achilles Charismatic - "Go ahead, kill me. I'll kill more of your people...baby."
Current Music: Livin' on the Edge...because, apparently, something's wrong in the world today, and I'm clueless as to what it may be...
