Michael tells me there is a guy who ran a campaign to be president of the Internet. He got the position by being the first hit when you type "president of the Internet" into Google. He got *that* by getting enough people to use the phrase when linking to him.

It only works if google indexes the pages where you are linked. There's an option to allow that someplace in the account information that each LJ person linking would have to set, and that would make available their non-protected journal entries to google's archive. And since the text I'm typing is way too small to read I'm gonna submit this without proofreading :-)
