[music |DeBarge - I Like It]

-YSO has a synopsis now. It was a pain and a half to write the stupid thing. I was trying to find the right amount of art-fag pretentiousness to infuse in it while not giving too much away. Andrew rofl'd and gave it his approval.

-Monday and Tuesday were initial lighting rehearsals. Both ran hella late so some dances got a lot of time, some got one 5-minute run through and that was IT. At any rate since my week was freed up I stuck around and caught as many routines as I could. I think I've seen a little over half the show, there are like twenty routines, and man this dance concert is going to be off the PRECIPICE. TOO hot. Boy I tell you.

Getting some practice before running out of sunlight

Full twisting back handspring (a good reminder I need to fffin' stretch first)

-I hear that our ghetto gym is on the cusp of being sold! Dang! I stopped going because of rehearsals and to save money but also because it lost its luster having been flooded hardcore and quite frankly being pretty dank and filthy. I'm positive there's mad mold up ins. But after the concert I should go back and get a few more nights in.

Anyway.

A HUGE flood of hot women, hot dancers, and hot dancing womens. Hot time! Said Bubs. )

-Man I am going to NAIL the fundamental Samba no Pe step this week. Back in Capoeira during Samba de Roda I always did the shit wrong because my Asian-ass was not comprehending the hip swivel at ALL. SCREW that. I am ALL OVER THIS, MAN

[music |Daft Punk - Television Rules The Nation/Crescendolls (Alive 2007)]

-Fairly big news. Andrew came back for a few days on a short stop as he has business on the east coast. The last several weeks have been some pretty significant venting and ironing out of issues we went through over the past ten(!!) months of post-production on separate continents. Last night we went out to Norm's in Westwood and basically went over everything possible in terms of the next step. (I also pushed him to take some dance classes or some ballroom when he gets back to Indonesia. It's just a good thing to know.)

The movie is done but we decided on doing some select test viewings to see how varied the responses are and to get an indication if we absolutely must do any last second changes. NOT OVER YET. Also truthfully this movie is so damn weird/different that we're petrified of showing it to large groups of people. The whole making the feature and now planning for festivals, neither of us have done this before and it's all one new scary ass step at a time. Daunting shit. The fun never stops.

Gay.

-In the wake of all this it occurred to me how much better everything has become. I had to gradually find a way to put the beginning of the year (aka absolute HELL) and all that drama behind me. Coming to terms with it around my birthday and mellowing out was something I couldn't have predicted in terms of how it happened but I'm glad it finally did. While I was pulling my face off months ago I KNEW that things would eventually get better, hills and valleys and all that, the main challenge was finding the mental muscle to power through the absolute worst period of it in March. The waiting was interminable but I'm not getting that time back so fuck it. No dwelling. Next step.

SHOW WEEK. WHOO. Latest on the tappin' and the tangoin'. )

Edit: Added a dance tag for all Tap/Tango/Pierce College entries. The School tag (as in Old School) is again exclusively for nostalgia/GI Joes/high school and the like.

Tife and Limes: ON THE GREEN! [May. 9th, 2008|10:30 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[music |Neo Turf Masters - Intro]

-Today and yesterday I worked on some show called Scrubs. It's in a hospital and is a comedy or something. Apparently it is somewhat popular and a few of my friends might be familiar with it.

Seriously, I know of the show but haven't really watched it. I saw most of one episode at Gene's house where the black guy ate too much ice cream or steak or something. The only person I recognized was this old white guy who once played an angry Earth Alliance Captain when John Sheridan was trying to liberate Proxima 3 (/nerd). Anyway I think it'll be funny if in a year or so somebody messages that they saw me loitering around a Coffee Bucks in a blue shirt. I wasn't in that many shots, 80% of my time was leveling up my second character in Puzzle Quest. $16.25 an hour! I can't stop remarking about how ridiculous that is! Did I mention it's ridiculous? WELL IT IS!

-My birthday present to myself finally arrived. When I got wind of these in February and discovered their release date was on my birthday, my dumb ass got excited and preordered them on Amazon instead of at my local Gamestop. So I had to wait a week for shipping. *bonks own noggin*

The selection in SNK Classics is great. There are some noteworthy absences like Crossed Swords, Super Spy, NAM 1975, Ninja Commandos, etc. but hopefully there will be a Volume 2. I've actually been playing Neo Turf Masters the most. I played the holy hell out of the Neo Geo Pocket version (which I gushed about frequently during my NGPC frenzy of '05). The portable version is the same game only with SD characters. The arcade game is unfortunately missing the distance graph next to the map which was a substantial help AND the game is a bit harder overall but that's fine by me.

Unfortunately SNK Classics has this wack goals/medals system to unlocking bonus content. This and the Capcom Classics should've just had the extras available from the start. Some of these games are just simply NOT FUN enough to grind through on hard or insane difficulties. You even have to unlock World Heroes, which not being a difficult task (get 10 medals) was also completely unnecessary. Still, well worth the $15 for anyone who grew up with the 4-slot Neo cabs in their arcades.

Fatal Fury Battle Archives 2 is EXCELLENT. Real Bout Special and Real Bout 2 definitely deserve a bigger following, awesome characters and animation and presentation and and and. Their default button layouts are the only weird thing about it because they're all different (why??) but it doesn't matter since you can change them. Extras are a training mode and color edit. Also glad I can now map A+B, B+C, A+C, and A+B+C to the shoulder buttons for those bleedin' SDMs. GO TO HEABEN~! I hate Chonshu/rei.

-I finally caved and bought enough GI Joe 25th Anniversary Comic Packs to get the mail-in Doc. I bought 2 of the Crimson Guard/Scarface sets and kept those for my collection. I don't need the pilots because I'm not getting any planes (as cool as Wild Weasel looks), Tomax and Xamot are gay, Torch and Ripper were always idiots in my book, nobody needs a blue Destro, and Breaker's cool for having his gum but I still don't need him. That bunch will go straight to auction.

As I wrote before in my big-ass Joe list entry, Doc was my very first Joe. I wouldn't be doing the mail-in if he didn't have that significance. I rescued him off the floor of my pre-school when I was 4, and now I have to rescue him again! I must Rescue Doc! Damn you Hasbro! Also word is he's a pretty dope exclusive in his own right. Having to wait 6-8 weeks makes me feel young again. Remember Super Trooper? 8-10 weeks.

Man. I keep gushing about Joes and I'm going to have to make a new tag.

Tife and Limes: Birthday Surprises, Narcissism 301 [May. 6th, 2008|04:30 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[music |Daft Punk - Da Funk (Alive 2007)]

-Work yesterday was hilarious. Third episode of some new TV show that hasn't aired yet. $12.60 an hour to drive my car slowly around a block about five times with enough waiting in-between takes to amount to a ten hour day. It's a crazy business. Mark Dacascos was a guest star, saw him walking around and smiling to everyone a bunch. The Loudmouth from my job last week was actually there but thankfully in a different group. Got to see him make a fool of himself again in front of the P.A's. I got asked if I wanted to be recalled but I preferred to be rested today because we have our extra Tango rehearsal tonight. Gonna be rad.

-Again, not expecting anything to occur during my birthday often leads to surprises:

My sister gave this to me. The funny thing was that I had seen this thing all over the place the month before in a bunch of different situations. For instance my friend was asking me to buy them so HE could use them, I saw them at Will's house when Steve was over, and on last week's gig the lighting crew had these on set and would take turns using them between setups. Bit of nutty foreshadowing.

The Perfect Pushup gets a thumbs up from me. It's a fun device and one of the few infomercial products (like the Foreman Grill) worth a damn. HOWEVER, if you do NOT like push-ups, this is NOT going to help you like them any better. You'll probably hate doing them even more, particularly if you're not used to gripping a bar. If you're already exercising regularly, it's a handy and lightweight assist to have around. The Perfect Pushup by no means makes push ups easier. It makes them more comfortable for your joints and also slightly more challenging. You still have to do the bulk of the work and you only get out of it what you put into it. Good shit.

I still do the same push-up routine with the Perfect Pushup. I like being able to lower myself further and I've been pushing myself to do an extra set. My body feels aces.

PENT-UP TESTOSTERONE FROM 26 YEARS OF SELF-DEPRECATION ARRRRRGH

Maintaining the hell out of it. Summer will be the new era of the smediumest of shirts! Anyway I promise I'll stop posting these for a while because for a few weeks now they've seriously all looked the same. Not that I mind, it's about bleedin' time I looked like this. Confidence! Muscle tone! Confidence and muscle tone! Serious business!

The Saga: Year 28 [Apr. 29th, 2008|09:05 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[music |Cut Chemist - The Garden]

Happy Birthday to ME, goddammit.

Work was great. There were about sixty background to fill up Union Station and its tracks. Shoot went without significant incident, they fed us very well (fricking succulent ribs for lunch today, hgghallhaggal), and the majority of the other extras were cool people. Easiest $16.25 an hour there is to make if you go there prepared and with the right attitude. Waking up that first day is a bitch though. Got only 45 minutes the first night but managed 7 hours the second.

Problem with working background is there's always at least ONE guy, at worst a small group, of retards. It's either A) The jabbering & overbearing loudmouth who won't shut up about bumps/pay scales/rates/his past gigs and is such a persistent & tragic failure at being funny that you would give a kidney to mute him - AND/OR B) The chronic complainer who is nothing but miserable and angry at any/everything: "This is an outrage they can't treat us like this I'm going to file a complaint with the union I'm an important man I'm going to file a complaint" blah blah DICK. We had those guys but The Complainer didn't get recalled and everybody ignored The Loudmouth the second day. Majority was a good bunch of seasoned folks who knew the score.

That was a good gig to get back into doing background work. My attitude about it is totally different, particularly after having the sign shop job for a year and a half. Doing background you realize there are FAR worse ways of making a living. I am in no way anywhere near as badly stressing my ass off like I did at the sign shop and that crap was $9/hr. Union background plus typical overtime is usually around $200 a day. Also it helps that I no longer feel like I need to be competitive, that was what absolutely killed me about stunt hustling and hustling in general. I am totally down with easy grinding and making some comfy bread with no ego-mangling.

Anyway hopefully this will become a fairly regular thing but in the meantime I'm still looking into alternate jobs so I can branch out in my experiences. Have to mail that packet to Art Center College of Design tomorrow.

It appears that women over 50 can pretty accurately guess my age. Sandy in tap guessed it last weekend. I was hanging out with another extra named Darlene most of today and it went;
"How old do I look?"
"SEVENTEEN."
"All right, how old do I SOUND?"
"Twenty-eight."
"Exactly right."

Most people guess around 24-25. Good genes. I could play 18 if I don't speak.

It's nice being even-numbered again. I am seriously mad that the latter half of 27 imploded. Seriously mad. I feel like it was taken from me and my plans were shit on and burned. I feel like I have to restart a lot of things; my ambitions, my goals, what direction my talents should go in. Passing Go and collecting $200. I got this resentment flowing in my blood and it is not good for me. I have to do big things for myself and get my fate back squarely into my own hands. I have GOT SHIT TO DO. DRRRRRRRRRRRRGH.

Anyway my eyes hurt and I am tired from a 14-hour day so I'm probably just going to knock out. Hot time.

'06 rules still apply: Stand tall, stride with purpose, act decisively, speak without fear.

Tife and Limes: Fuck this slump, this slump sucks. [Apr. 27th, 2008|09:09 pm]
[Tags|, ]
[music |Cut Chemist - Storm (feat. Edan & Mr.Lif)]

LORD it was sweltering today. Especially during (engineering). Found out all the A/C for the ENTIRE campus is controlled from ONE BUILDING. It's timed in advance for just the regular school week so every classroom was an easy bake oven. Whoo.

Okay screw the engineering joke, it had its run.

The tap piece is pretty solid apart from a few instances where people get ahead of the music. Orchestral scores are a pain because the tempo can vary and there will be pauses and breaks that throw people off. The only other thing we need is to implement some extras into the background, unfortunately some of the ones we got have pretty bad ADHD. Hopefully next weekend we can get back on the stage itself and iron this mess out without incident.

Lean, spin, dip.

Tango is going well. All we need is a little extra time on refining the technique. Memorization is far less of a problem, we're like 95% there. My partner was messing up a bunch but she's a hard worker and doesn't make excuses for her mistakes. Wish there were more people like that. I hear there's serious attitude problems in some other dances (ballet specifically) where people come in from a certain experience level and try to throw their weight around when they're only part of the ensemble. It's completely wack when you have to remind people (or yourself) that fun should be involved. Fortunately it is predominantly good times in my groups.

Finally a bit of good news, I am working for the first time in like six fucking months tomorrow and probably Tuesday. Most thanks due to my sister who referred me to a call-in service I'd never heard of. Might as well make this union base rate start working out for me. Back in '04-'05 I used to think background was a total waste of time but now that I am so completely over stunt hustling I have no complaints. Screw that world, the politics, and the stress. Charging my DS and doin' it to it.

Also this week I'm being added to a modeling roster for Art Center College of Design in Pasadena thanks to the recommendation of my tap teacher. Hopefully that will lead to some regular booking.

I don't mind probably working through my birthday (Tuesday) because I wasn't really planning on doing anything anyway. I kind of wanted to but it's the middle of the week and everyone's got school or work or whatever. Meh. It will just be nice to be even-numbered again.

Whoo waking up at 3 a.m. for an early call! What fun!

Tife and Limes: New things new things [Mar. 12th, 2008|11:22 pm]
[Tags|, ]

Gym was a fun time. I arrived earlier than usual, Pablo inexplicably showed up too. It was slow and steady going for a while but things really picked up halfway through. I did a lot of verbal pushing and shoving of The Abs, who I daresay has a tendency to look very self-conscious while training. In the last hour Pablo mentioned he promised himself he'd work on back handsprings, so I made a team effort out of it and we rotated doing three at a time until we hit fifty-one. We should do the routine stuff more often when there aren't as many people, sometimes it's hard though because dudes will just stagnate and not bother to get motivated. Some days you can't blame them, other days they're just being Belgians. Mostly you just need the right people to be there.

The Abs would freeze halfway through a back handspring as if he were doing two movements instead of one motion. I theorized that because his body geometry is completely angular it results in his midsection locking into place like Tetris pieces. Dude's all right angles and vectors. A trapezoid on top of two rectangles and six squares, that's his torso. Once he goes vertical, all those planks clack together and he has to muscle out of the gravity pull. I on the other hand am comprised of rubber and Italian noodles, so I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum.

This technique is sometimes known as "Kicking the shit out of a dude on a ladder followed by the light fixture he's installing"

Progress on a new script remains at a standstill. For some reason my ideas keep on returning to war themes. A huge pile of ideas but I still can't put together one solid outline. It's like being in a forest without a path. I look back on my old projects and I honestly can't remember how I felt when I wrote them. The inspiration is there or it isn't, it's not a mindset I can pull back. Son of a argh.

I actually kind of lost some interest in my usual training. I want to do more new things and delve into new territory, so I'm just straight fiending for rehearsals to start. New social circle, new friends, new experiences, whole swath of uncharted territory. After the last four and a half months of sinking (then sinking some more), I need to be fucking HAPPY for a god-damned change. Son of a bitch. I can't think of much else I can do to start enjoying myself.

edit: On Tuesday I submitted an in-progress rough of YSO to its first film festival, taking place in early May. Yes Gene, that one. Here's hoping.

Tife and Limes: A big pile of random shit [Mar. 1st, 2008|09:16 am]
[Tags|, , ]
[music |Daft Punk - Human After All]

-Still having difficulty mashing an outline together. All three ideas are good, they're all concepts I want to execute at some point, but at the same time no single idea stands out from the rest. I don't have the right inspiration yet.

-New wallpaper up. Art gallery 2 will go up next, I'll probably wait longer than usual though because I'm essentially out of updates after that until the trailer can come out. Unless I figure out something else to slap together. Maybe a coloring contest? .....

-Announced at Toy Fair 2008: Full Auto Nerf Vulcan. I want one and I don't even have a use for it. There's a Nerf modding community that extends the range up to twice as far, also doing repaints & modular conversions and so on, particularly with the Longshot. I'd want an AC Adapter socket put in the Vulcan because it's going to require SIX D batteries. That is bleedin' expensive. I'd also get it painted up like a SAW. Then, well, I'd need to find someone to shoot at. *Looks blatantly at Sam*

-Check the description:

Man, I WISH my computer had a steering wheel and all those gauges and shit. That would be much more interesting. Imagine the size of the manual.

-My filthy, inconsiderate douchebag roommate of three years is finally moving out. I'll wait to expound on how terrible he is until he's finally hauled all his crap out of here. Still looking for a new roomie, need to find one by the 15th, but very few people want to move out to my end of the valley. Might have to go to craigslist. My rent is as low as it conceivably gets for a place this size and I have a great relationship with the landlord so I do not want to give it up yet. I don't mind living out here, basically on the edge of Canoga Park and Woodland Hills. You can basically find anything just by going two blocks south. Our kitchen just got a mold inspection and some of the drywall is getting replaced so it's a great time for someone new to come in. After that I can FINALLY take a mop to these floors and walls without fear of them getting ruined the next day by fucking hair and juice spills and beef stew and so on. Good riddance.

Tife and Limes: Hour 19. [Feb. 27th, 2008|11:01 am]

[music |Zhane - Hey Mr DJ]

New wallpaper and proper gallery will go up in a few days. It came out more or less how I thought it might, although doing the layouts took longer than expected. Arranging all them heads, distributing the colors, filling gaps and so on.

=|

Work on an outline for a new project has splintered into two and a half outlines. I have to determine how exactly I'm going to attack this. Having so many ideas floating around my head at once is distracting me from centering on a single storyline. Writing and separating it helps, but choosing which branch to focus on is problematic. So far I'm pretty disappointed with how little the process is coming together.

Only upside is that the ideas for character styles and fight choreography spots have been fairly abundant for this early stage. Only problem is WHERE DO I CRAM THIS AND THERE AND WHAT WITH WHICH

Bleh.

My sleep schedule's fucked up again, I skipped gym Tuesday to grind on the outline which amounted to a rough all-nighter of starts and stops, head is close to pinging. I'm going to get a burrito and push my clock forward a few more hours before I knock out.

IT'S UP TO ME, GONNA MAKE IT HAPPEN

Breaks: Read the entirety of Genshiken. Art-wise the first book is odd and sometimes almost generic looking, but it became consistent by the second book. Good stuff.

And a school shooting! Jesus, what kind of fucked up day is this [Feb. 14th, 2008|11:40 pm]

[music |Cordao de Ouro - Capoeira Canto]

Tuesday gym was fun the whole way through. The entire time was basically me running Naomi and Xochi through hoops and going nuts on the floor. I think my Relogio has improved a bit. The weather was much better that day too, very warm through nighttime. Progress in leaps and bounds, hugs and high spirits.

Today was one great hurricane-wind-ridden downward spiral.

Gym kinda sucked. I was pumped up going in there and I did a lot of stuff but nothing I did was at its best. The energy in there was weird. Lots of people but things just didn't pick up at all. My right shoulder was bothering me a little bit, similar to when I was training Capoeira full time back in the day. My left arm got sore for no reason that I am aware of. Quite a few old things I tried I just didn't feel the mechanics of AT ALL. Like the entry had been wiped. I certainly hope it was just one of those crummy off-days.

Blgh. By the time gym wrapped up, my mood was really low and all the negativity was pooling up in my head. Being in the presence of a happy couple for a few hours didn't quite help either. Came back to IRC and found others were also having unpleasant times for various reasons. It's like everything bad that's going on in my life made itself more prominent today in some form or another. All the good that I have is being overshadowed and shoved into the wings like crusty old stage backdrops.

Going on a roll. A hoagie roll. God Dammit.

Since this weekend is all freed up I'm going to hunker down like I did back in 2006 and just CHURN the shit out of my brain. When I hit low periods like this, I rarely get happy unless I really produce a lot of ideas and manifest them in some way. Going to draw my ass off, lay things out, lose track of the hours, make more plans and set out to open more doors on the horizon. At this very moment I'm standing neck deep in water but waiting for the tide to recede by itself will only waste time. I got ideas, I gotta pile 'em all up, seize the day and all that shit. Mutter grumble.

edit: Hell I might as well make that giant bowl of macaroni and cheese.

[music |Kids in the Hall - Season 2 Commentary]

Looks like something Herb Trimpe drew in the late 70's

-I've finally started a second art phase for YSO. I conceived the idea months ago but put it off until the movie got delayed again. Now I've got nothing but time, so there's a bundle of new people to graphicize for some layout ideas. Fortunately, now it only takes half the time to make one. Used to take 4-8 hours. I just put on 2001 or some commentary for ambiance and time gets KILLED.

-Saturday I started my second semester of ENGINEERING. Twenty-five people or so. Four people from last semester! A good chunk of the new folks have had previous experience, like four or five with a LOT. I'm hoping not many people drop because with more people in the class we'll have more opportunity to work in groups at different levels. The first semester it was really only like two very advanced people and everyone else was a beginner. ALL of next weekend is off because of President's Day, which is ridiculous because I want to go to my freaking class.

-Had a few recent leads for stunts, none have followed through so far. I don't mind though. Finally getting really busy and self-motivated. Working out more than I have in a long time, going to ghetto gym twice a week, eating a lot, ideas popping off left and right. Probably start on some choreography and possibly some boards for another project that's been kicking around my head for the past half year or so. Still got anxiety waiting until April for YSO, but I have to do all I can to power through it.

-Gaming wise, HD has totally ruined me. Playing a PS2 game at only 480p kind of hurts my eyes after a while. Got a second-hand card reader and put all my old saves on the PS3. Also FINALLY bought a sealed copy of Omega Boost for $9 off eBay and got to use that eight year old PS1 save file. Man, playing a PS1 game on the PS3 looks like JAGGED HELL unless you turn on the smoothing option, then it looks like a normal CRT.

[music |Tekken DR - Moonlight something something]

-Well the movie got hit with a big delay, nothing I can do about it but wait. After working on it for so long and being so close to completion, I get paranoid and anxious every time something gets in the way. It's like the download bar freezing at 99%. Not to mention my next path in life will depend upon how the movie is received so I'm even more uptight, my very fate hinging on the biggest project I've ever helmed melodrama melodrama. There's no work to be had, times are tough, frustrated doesn't BEGIN to describe it. The next two months are going to feel like a YEAR. Still, if I were in Andrew's situation I would do the same thing so I can't fault him. Big opportunity comes up, gotta jump on it.

Yes yes perhaps all for the best yes right I know right. Gotta muster the strumgth.

-After the above news I signed up for ENGINEERING again in the spring semester. I figured I might as well. Do some more socializing and find different things to focus on before I drive myself CRAZY.

-Gym is dank, dark, and smells pretty bad, but times there have been pretty darn good the past month or two. Been going every Tuesday and Thursday. A lot of the Batuqueiros show up now and they're good company. Batuque pays less attention to acrobatics & floreio and favor a more offensive/defensive game so there's a lot of volta porscima-esque shit I can gleefully drill into them. One skill I think is very important to know, period, is lowering into queda de rins and attaining that balance. Once you have that, you can save yourself out of messing up almost anything- you can go to the ground and right into a role or escape without losing your flow.

Bally well fixed that nonsense. I should wear green more often.

Tuesday was much drilling of the Sam on his side flip and dispensing of critical hip-oriented advice. Thursday I watched old videos and decided to get all my old extremely difficult floor combos back. Phil, Shiggy, Belgian and I went to Quiznos afterward (can you believe they have NEVER BEEN?? What kind of world only has Subway and Togos??). Phil and I were discussing some moves we have never achieved after years of struggle. Mine basically come down to some combos: 1. Mariposa-Gainer Full (sorta want) 2. Relogio-Au Giratoria (probably never) 3. Au Sem Mao-Full Twist (must get). Goals! Goals are good.

Anyway in the middle of getting my Tekken on with the fellas. Report tomorrow.

WE ARE ABOUT TO ACHIEVE VICTORY, COMRADES! [Jan. 13th, 2008|01:15 am]

[music |CoD4 - Lobby Music]

-Soundtrack is here. Whoo. I'd be more excited but I'm going to be hours into the a.m. playing and re-playing the movie with the music and hashing out notes for editing. It's really tough deciding if some scenes play better with or without music. It's just as well I do this immediately since I've been sleeping from 10 am to 6 pm the past few days except for Tues/Thurs gym. Just when I think I've fixed the problem my body says PSYCHE and I wake up after three hours and can't get back to sleep. Horse hockey.

[22:36] Esco> chicken nuggets are so unhealthy
[22:36] Esco> how I love them so
[22:40] Antigone_Jones> I second the chicken nuggets obsession
[22:40] Antigone_Jones> they are so good
[22:43] Esco> I can feel the grease coating my innards
[22:44] elfbutt> one time i got a bone in a mcnugget

[22:44] elfbutt> i dont think ive had one since
[22:45] Antigone_Jones> so far, I haven't had that kind of experience
[22:45] Antigone_Jones> they are awesome, nonetheless
[22:46] Esco> I used to get into fights with people over chicken nuggets vs chicken tenders
[22:46] Esco> that was some epic grade school debate
[22:47] SamX> chicken tenders 4 lyfe
[22:47] SamX> nuggets are good if you're broke
[22:47] SamX> but tenders are the symbol of ballin

[22:49] SamX> chick-fil-a waffle fries > bk fries > wendys fries > mcdonalds fries
[22:50] elfbutt> where do arbys curly fries go
[22:50] elfbutt> bk fries right after they redid their fries were the best, when they had mr potato head in their commercials
[22:51] Esco> I have never eaten at an arbys

[22:51] elfbutt> lol
[22:51] elfbutt> i dont eat there
[22:51] SamX> LOL I was about to say the same shit

-I took a break and played some CoD4. Got on the best freaking tear I've ever had for nine games until someone closed the lobby. All Mercenary Team Deathmatch: 17-7, 21-6, 25-2, 24-7, 16-7, 22-7, 12-5, 9-6, 16-7. Kill streak got up to 19 on that 25-2 game. Kill ratio is now 1.54 (3000k-1943d), 249 Headshots, 499 assists. The only thing I'm looking for in numbers really is to get my ratio to 2.0 slowly and surely, still not interested in Prestige. I'd rather keep all my junk. ISN'T THIS NEWS INTERESTING?? OH MY GAW. I'm really considering getting a bluetooth mic because I've more often had some actual helpful people in teams (and I wanted to freaking brag about the 25-2). But most importantly to yell at guys who make rookie mistakes. I'd be yelling "DON'T BUNCH UP" on a constant basis. Speaking of, I took down three guys with a P90 because they were all huddled together in a corner. Also, standing still and shooting? Standing in the open and reloading? People oughta learn.

Insomnia and orange soda days with blu-rays and light haze [Jan. 9th, 2008|01:06 am]

[music |FFA SF:3S Ranbat 4.4]

-HOME STRETCH. It is some hard and tenacious times. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. There are bears in the tunnel. WHY ARE THERE BEARS? Fuck!

-Jesus criminy I have been fighting off a sore throat for three days. I've got this annoying itch in the back of my throat but I have kept it from becoming a full blown infection. I will goddamn RETAIN my unsick streak. It's been nearly three(!) years since I was sick. Not being sick? That's SERIOUS BUSINESS. And I am SERIOUS. BUSINESS.

Fwoooooo I bet most people can't even tell what that is

Gym was freezing and damp. We had our big winter rain over the last weekend and the ROOF LEAKED at the gym on Friday. A third of the floor got soaked. The mats and tramps were spongy and the whole place STANK like whoa. There was a noble cleanup effort on Saturday I hear but we could still use some industrial heaters on this ghetto floor. I'm hoping there's not going to be a mold problem. The floor itself could definitely use replacing regardless but I doubt there are enough funds for such an endeavor.

Wet socks and chilly limbs aside, it was a fun time. Belgian, 88 Kilo Man, Frenchie (learned it's spelled Farouk, I was pretty close) and a whole mess of people from Batuque were there. We did our best. There was hefty analysis on corkscrews and twisting things. Brazilibrium claims black people can jump exceedingly well but do not have the Asian man's intrinsic ability to spin as quickly and efficiently. There was a ton of crashing by said negro and a lot of ribbing whenever I or Pacific did anything. Trying to talk me into doing a cheat 720 twist like I don't know what the risks & ramifications are with that trick. We'll talk summer at the soonest with THAT freakout. The majority of the gang got their second wind within the last twenty minutes. It was tough but we overpowered the conditions with positivity and jokes for days. Damp aside, Thursday seems very likely. Hope there's some time to air the place out before then.

Tife and Limes: With a rap rap here and a rap rap there [Dec. 9th, 2007|01:56 pm]

[music |Earth Wind & Fire - Sing a Song]

It was an inordinately long process with many midday headaches involved, but by Friday I was finally waking up at a reasonable hour.

-Class was a review for the final and I rocked the bastard because I was completely awake. I was actually expecting more people to be missing by now, but we're only short two folks who have already taken the course. I'm pretty surprised by the ones who have been struggling badly the whole semester but really stuck through the worst of it. Admirable effort.

-After class I went to Borders on an impulse and discovered Yotsuba Vol.5 is out. WHOO! Feel-good books are the best books. Man, she's irate in this one. The Yanda chapter was gut-busting. Also, these are awesome. (Don't need 'em though. Priorities.)

-Ozomatli is coming to the House of Blues on the 20th/21st! AUGH freaking assload of additional service/building/b.s. charges. Going to see if I can get a hot lady friend to come with.

-Taking full advantage of my early-getting-upness, this morning I took a swing at the recently released PS3 theme editor and slapped something the hell up. It turned out pretty dang nice. I might eventually release this on the site for the hell of it.

Tife and Limes: Plush Burger Action [Dec. 1st, 2007|01:38 am]
[Tags|, , , ]
[music |Chicago - Street Player (wow this is mostly kinda suck)]

Sun is shining, sky is blue, and it's fifty degrees with heavy winds. Ugh.

Today I was completely asleep during class. Only yesterday did I get to the point where I can fall asleep at midnight, but only for about five hours and I'm in a daze until 2. I was out of it all morning and felt like lead weights were jangling in my cerebrospinal fluid. Groggy through all the various tasks and I couldn't concentrate. Not my finest moment. I'm making a XS face just thinking about it.

Also, this old and mildly deranged man has been showing up since about two classes ago and boy is he a piece of work.
[12:28] Esco> and he doesn't really work and just wastes time. says every thought out loud or repeats everything said
[12:29] Esco> and the teacher thinks he's so cute and hilarious and the rest of us have to put up with his bullshit
[12:29] elfbutt_> haha
[12:30] Rad> lol
[12:30] elfbutt_> older woman in class who relates everything to her children is worse
[12:30] Esco> got one of THOSE too
[12:30] elfbutt_> lol

But I will not dwell! I am going to blow their asses away on the final, I tell you (soon as I wake the hell up and get cracking) god my head

Gym Thursday was FREEZING. UGH. Pablo, 88 Kilo Man and I spent half the time drilling Belgian on his punch technique, which was actually really fun. Unfortunately once it got to the floor there wasn't much that we could do. The cold would get to your limbs in a minute. 88 Kilo Man had an ankle injury, Belgian was burned out. Frenchie and I went on a bunch about bullshit required courses in college. There wasn't much we could do other than work the basics and do some maintenance. Fortunately, I did discover that I have that diagonal outside-snap (reverse roundhouse?) kick pretty clean. Pablo does it sharp as hell. I was feeling that along my quads and knee afterward.

Fancy Plans, rough revision 1.3, has been in my hands since Thursday. I spent the majority of Thurs & Friday watching it and taking notes for adjustments. Next step is music, which hopefully I'll have a list for by tomorrow. Funny how it arrived to me though.

"Awesome hey what the fuck is oh okay I huh"

The movie is colorful, weird, and turned out pretty darn good overall. I felt really good after the ending, so at least it wraps up to my satisfaction. I was actually surprised at how well some stuff came together, like the crazy multi-person shit we only had time to shoot in a day. There's some chopping and splicing to be done. It's 77 minutes right now, after editing it would be give or take 3 minutes I think. HOME STRETCH. I also have a new related art project that came to mind the other day that'll keep me busy for a week or so.
