| I have survived a quarter century. And it FEELS GREAT. |

Lo, 'tis me berth-day.
I haven't really cared about my birthday since I had my last big party when I was 19. Birthday's just another day (but I'm not fool enough to turn down presents). Yesterday I got birthday greets from my hot & saucy friends Lauren and Jeanie (an extremely pleasant surprise) and Andrew of the Cha Cha variety who is currently away for a few months (his email was wittily entitled "Happy Mothers Day").
My sister and I had agreed earlier in the week to go to dinner yesterday/Thursday night. When she picked me up, I knew that we weren't really going to dinner once she started making all these phone calls thinly disguised as asking directions to the "restaurant". Then Sam appeared and hopped in the car. They had me going for a while saying I was going to a strip club (I am most definitely NOT a strip club person, I went once with several half-drunk fellows who were my ride. A supremely shitty experience), and I was pretty miserable as I purposely hadn't eaten a single thing all day in anticipation for a tranquil dinner at a nice restaurant.
Fortunately we arrived at Dave and Buster's in Arcadia. Kerry was already there drinking his signature Tokyo Tea. Kerry gave me a sack full of excess baked goods, which is somewhat fitting as last year I bought him six cans of beef soup. Ilram (where's Stu??), Miram, C.B., Jimmy, Alex, Jason (whom I had met once) and Fernando (whom I had never met) arrived. I had the Chicken Scallopini which was exactly as filling as I wanted (it took them a damned hour to get us our food), and my friends threw in some money to get me a $50 game card. Our time was cut terribly short by the service- a manager came by and gave Ilram's table a stack of complimentary game cards, no wonder he gave so many because each card had like the equivalent of a dollar on it (a measly one or two plays).
Miram and Lianne, Jason and Ilram I rampaged through shooters with Sam. We did our best to utilize proper gun technique on Time Crisis 3 and almost completed Sega's new Ghost Squad shooter that I went all crazy about having read the website some months earlier (it gets an enthusiastic thumbs up from me for the gun modes, event choices, and very inventive use of the action button). We hadn't got to play that much before they started to close, but I at least got a run at my favorite shooter of all: L.A. Machineguns. I used to play this every single day when I was going to college, and had it down to beating Los Angeles, Alcatraz and Las Vegas on one credit. Kerry and I beat Las Vegas then we got politely booted out. Kerry is a blast to play games with once he's got two or three Tokyo Teas in him, because he'll scream nonstop at everything.
I and Sam Ghost Squaddin', Kerry and I L.A. Machinegunnin' (with Ilram emoting for added effectiveness) We managed a group picture taken by some drunk Asian guy who appeared out of nowhere (boy was that guy working my nerves, I have absolutely no tolerance for drunk people whatsoever), and said assorted goodbyes before some wasted fat blonde pecker started to annoy the living fuck out of me. It was an extremely fun albeit brief night o' games. Especially nice since I hadn't done jack shit for my birthday the past few years.

Oh and my sister got me this Aquapet because it looks like me. Profile's about the same too. Today on my actual birthday: I got a Japanese Flash E-Card pancake-flipping game from Ken (IT WAS RIGGED, STUPID CAT), a call from my Mom in Vancouver singing me happy birthday (she does this every year), and a Costco bulk package of 180 Oreos & a card that says "party till people avoid you" from my Dad. My Dad's great. Underneath his squareish exterior lies a wild extrovert that the world has never seen, I tell you. My Dad is awesome and let no-one tell you otherwise. The weather was quite nice today, sun was still high at 5 p.m., so I threw on my man-bag and went for a healthy jaunt. Bought that Zeppelin DVD set & the RATM Final Concert I mentioned earlier.
It's late now, I'm eating a Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger, and it was a pleasantly uneventful day. Great to know I've got rad friends and a fab family. One of those brief moments where it seems that everything's gonna be a-ok. *SNIFF, HONK*
But what I really want is to go back in time to 1939 and have hot sex with Cyd Charisse.
Cyd Charisse = HOT. Thought you knew. |
