I first saw this video in my hotel room 3 days ago.
The shoot was in mid-March for two days. I was background the first day, and they brought only 3 of us back the second day to do pickup shots but they didn't get around to it so they used me as a stand-in for Black Eyed Peas (yes, even though I'm not black) since I stood around on set all day.
Apl doing the intro. Apl flubbed the lines a lot, but his ad-libs were comedy gold. All the guys in the group are hilarious.
Note they put the girls on boxes to make him look even shorter. They were trying to use the bubble machine but it got out of control and started messing up people's hair.
Will.i.am and the girls rehearsing a shot. I stood in for Will most of the time. Will is a fucking comedy genius. He SLAYED us. He was also pretty much running the show, making directing decisions and overseeing everything. During lunch he was covering specifics for their tour with some reps from the label. The man knows his business. Usually when he was waiting for the setup to finish, he was going nuts on the drum kit. One hell of a dancer too, they shot probably 10 minutes worth of him dancing as Voodoo Thursday.
The casting director told me they went through something like 2500 girls in auditions. Each of these girls were shot dancing solo, but man some of them were as rhythmless as humans could get and just gyrated to try to hide it. Oh and when I was standing in for Will, I noticed one of the panels on the wheel said "Hot Air Ballon". I think that was the only typo, but it was funny.
The belly dancer was incredible. She worked her ass off. She was on stage for almost every shot. She had the longest solo coverage, and it was well-deserved. I told her she was awesome and she said that nobody else was saying anything so she was a little self-conscious.
I met Taboo before at Dragonfest '02 when they were still working on Elephunk. He's a cool cat, spent the whole shoot typing on his Sidekick. In the video I sat behind him on the left and you get one clear shot of me.
Behold, the Fergie. I was sitting in the lounge of the studio and she walked in, looked at me for a bit, smiled and said "I like your hair!" It was an awesome moment. Tears of joy. (Pity the hair's gone) The pictures don't do her justice, you absolutely have to see her in person. She's like a saucier version of Cammy, and she knows how to work EV ER Y THING. Those Julia braids were ergh unf argh fantastic. She has a killer figure, that dress was tight like saran wrap.
I have somewhere close to 40 pictures of Fergie, here are a few. I am selfishly hoarding the rest (and the dozen backside shots) for all eternity. ARGHA HA HA!
Here's Michael, one of the three guys that came back the second day. Later in the day they started using him as a stand-in. I tried to email him but his address wouldn't take it. Hey Michael! Here's your picture!
Short haired girl on the left was ridiculously cute, but none of these girls could even begin to hold a torch to the featured belly dancer. It's funny how much they shot that got cut, for instance two of these girls were in a shot with Fergie singing in-between. Maybe they're saving it for a music video DVD later on. They also shot a promo for Canada's MuchMusic.
After I wrapped I ran into Taboo outside near craft service and we talked about the new album. I said I had two of his albums with me (conveniently), and he asked which ones. I only have their first two. He said "Damn, you got my old shit! Our fans don't know about this stuff man, they're all teenagers. Damn I gotta sign these for you." and I busted out a (conveniently on-hand) sharpie. I got a picture with him but it's on an undeveloped roll (I always carry a film camera and a digital)

In one or two shots I'm waving my arms like a retard, but that's because we had to shout at the very top of our lungs for a dozen shots.

I didn't get any hassle. My camera was out in plain sight for all to see when we were in the studio. Taboo was telling me to take pictures of him. "Hey yo man get a picture of this shit (pose)". Most of the guys playing background were taking shots also.
Blitz: Fergie smells like hot beachside passion. When she walked in on set, the whole room got simultaneous erections. You just heard every guy make a stifled "hmmngh..." sound all at once.
Dude, super hot celebritywoman compliments you on your cowlick and you LOP IT OFF ANYWAY?
It had to be done. You'll see why in maybe... two years. (disappears in haze of vagueness)
