here's what went down at the nine inch nails concert last night.
we arrived and got patted down by security. bought shirts and drinks. found our seats. auto lux played and sucked. we found our correct seats. queens of the stoneage played and didn't suck as bad as auto lux. the screens around the stage came down, smoke filled the stage and out came nin.
love is not enough rocked. wish rocked. the curtain came up. terrible lie rocked. the line begins to blur rocked. march of the pigs fucking blew the walls out. the frail/the wretched rocked. closer rocked. burn rocked. gave up.. was slightly off. the curtains came down. the projectors lit up with images of bacteria swimmin around. the intro to eraser started.
then it stopped. the projectors turned off. no sound from the stage for a minute or so. spotlight on the center mic as trent makes an announcement. "medical emergency. please just hold on for a few minutes." confused murmurs and speculation from the crowd. a few minutes pass. spotlight on the center mic again. trent makes another announcement. "jerome is out back with the EMTs. he's complaining of chest pains. hold for a few more minutes while we figure things out." this was the only time i'd ever heard an entire arena go completely silent. more confused murmurs and speculation from the crowd.
the curtains go up. the lights come on. some guy comes on the mic and makes an announcement. "jerome is still having chest pains. his heartbeat is irregular. he won't be able to come back out here tonight." the crowd says, "aww." some guy continues his announcement. "hold on to your tickets stubs. we'll return november 20th and they will be honored. thank you and we apologize." everyone leaves feeling kinda bummed. as we cross the foot bridge over the back lot we see jerome sitting on a gurney and being loaded into an ambulance. people yell down to him with hoots and words of encouragement like "we love you jerome!" and "stop jerkin off before the show!"
then we tried to go to denny's for food. no parking available. the place was packed. then we tried carro's (a local denny's wannabe). it was closed. then we gave up and just got jack in the box and went home.
now i have to go to some lame ass wedding.
