| | Know Your Enemy!!!!! | ] | I've been discovering so much new music and I'm coming back to the bands I never used to appreciate before. It's so funny how people's tastes can change over time when they really didn't like it then, and now they come back LOVING it, you know what I mean? haha, ewan, I always eat my words when it comes to those things. I say I don't like this one band and i valiantly defend my stand on how they suck, but now it's me who ends up loving them when they're not popular anymore (well, they were all popular like a decade ago hahaha) anyway. Here's a run down of some of em, some of you older folk might appreciate me listening to this stuff.
Man, now that they're back together again, I love them more than ever now! I only have like 2 albums, which are more recent, so yes, call me new school and shut up. PLUS THEY'RE RUMORED TO PLAY IN AUSTRALIA NEXT BIG DAY OUT WITH METALLICA!!!!!!! TANGINA!!!! let's go! CITO ILL TREAT YOU IF YOU COME fucking a just come!
Magaling. haha, I can't say I grew up with their music, nor can I say that I was a grunge fan (galit ako sa grunge eh. some of you might know that my heart lies in spandex and big hair) but this band is pretty good. Help me out here people of the flannel days, I only have a couple songs (of course, Interstate Love Song & Plush) I really like em, and probably grunge as a whole now cuz i'm totally new to it. haha, Who can like STP but not like Soundgarden?! Feeling ko naman, I just got into em practically TODAY when I heard Black Hole Sun. I mean, I've heard the song AGES ago, but I was too preoccupied with my Dream Theater and Racer X or whatever at that time. Strangely enough, I love Chris Cornell & Audioslave and Rage and all his solo projects, weird that I only got into em now. SORRY NA.
This guy is fucking FRESH man, ibang klase! I'm actually REALLY picky with the hiphop I listen to, and I CANNOT stand all this club songs that think bling and bitches and hoes and shit like that. I can't stand it. but this guy is AMAZING, his beats are original and fresh, he's got The Neptunes on his side, he skateboards and shit. Listen to Daydreamin' with Jill Scott, and Kick Push from Ala's LJ. haha. Lupe! Fuck man ibang klaseng metal to! I can't explain it. I like the Mer De Noms album, and I remember I used to be obsessed with this band before (alala mo yon ej? haha) Their songs are so dark and somber, it makes me wonder HOW they even conceive them in the first place. I tell you, it takes a really high level of musicianship to write shit like this. Anyway, members of this band are always joining and leaving and stuff, sayang naman. They also joined other bands like Tool and members from shit like RACER X joined em at one point as well as Mars Volta. Haha, I read about this one thing they did to write their Deloused In The Comatorium (???? tama ba?) album that got me really hooked. They found this diary in their old drummers' car (i can't remember, basta something like that) and read through it, and incorporated that diary and made a full length album out of it. Galing! Imagine the outcomes of basing an entire album on an entire person's life and candid emotions, something you can read as easily as an open book. Plus, they also use this Woody Allen technique where they come into the studio and each play a part of their own, but not allowed to hear the other person's part until the entire song is finished. Imagine all the weird things you can make. hahaha. I think I fell in love with the process rather than the music, though the music is exceptionally great. Isa pa yon, I don't know how they can ever fucking make that kind of music. They came from At The Drive-in which was a band I loved as well... MY GOD Smashing Pumpkins. Ito talaga ang cream of the crop. I know i'm still a total newbie when it comes to these older bands, but I think this is the band of the generation before me. Fuck Nirvana, they killed glam rock, so Smashing Pumpkins nalang. they're like a genre of their own man; Shoegazer and alternative music... Billy Corgan's such an AMAZING composer, and I think this stuff is the main influence of what I usually write nowadays. The album art & conception is fantastic, ethereal even; the song content is really galing, shit you don't expect. I think this is kind of a acquired taste, but I can't believe I didn't like them before. hahaha, I didn't expect him to look like what he does though... I thought he'd be some long haired whatever but he's this bald nerdy dude haha. CITO start listening to them. RYAN stop that Al Green shit and get into some Smashing Pumpkins. Before I die, I'm going to produce an album just like Mellon Collie or Siamese Dream. Too bad napadrugs sila and they broke up BUT AS OF APRIL 2005 THEY'RE BACK TOGETHER!!!! WOOO!!!!! NEW ALBUM!!!! I love this band. I swear all the great bands came from the UK - The Beatles, Rolling Stone, Iron Maiden, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Queen, ummm... Guns N Roses... They have that brit sound and ewan. I just love em okay shut up hahaha. This is actually the album I dislike the most; I like their first album eh, but I guess Demon Days has its charm. I like the entire package of the band eh; the Cibo Matto girl, Damien Albarn ba yon? from Blur and some other whatever guys hahaa. they never show themselves on stage, and they only come out as holograms, and their individual stories are followed by people through videos and shit like that. Plus, their site has some secret information and shit like that and it's really crazy. basta they bagged the Guiness award for being the most successful cyber band or something like that. hahaha. Anyway, galing sila. top notch beatwizards and songwriters. I'm not even going to try to say how much I love this band. Too band half of em are dead... hahaha. I can't believe my dad actually saw em live in manila. Ear training ko to eh, for Cifra - I try to learn 1 Beatles song a day and it really does help. sooner or later nagiging intuition na yung chord progressions mo, and you can sometimes guess what's gonna happen next cuz these songs actually do have a certain kind of formula. I mean, I knew there was before but experiencing it first hand and discovering it on your own is something else diba? I like the 1 album the most though hahaha. They're the Anti-thesis of the Rolling Stones (I don't really like em, sorry. I know I'll eat my words sooner or later, but I mean yeah rakenrol sila. fucking huge band, but I dunno, most of their songs sound the same, and it's a lot about the aggression and stage tactics and the performance I guess. maybe I'll get into it. hahaha i know i'm going to get grilled so bad for this) and they're not like the top selling artists of all time for nothing.
So much new music, so little time to discover! i'd like to just bring all these albums to some secluded island and trip out to these bands to fully appreciate them. haha. If you old timers have any recommendations or whatever, share naman. In the next couple of years, kids in the future will be doing this exact same LJ post but with my albums on it. WOOOOOOO hahahaha oh, Sting & The Police are back together. So are The Eagles. so is Smashing Pumpkins and RATM. yun ata ang uso eh. o Bandido na rin HAHAHAHAHAHA
ps. my Tita Rosanne's here, and I love how she's here so my mom's not so lonely in the house and shit. Guests are always good - Aycs and DADAAAAAA is coming home as well, and we're gonna be as complete as we can get for the first time ever in this house. wow! masaya yon! I can't wait. haha. I wish some people could come and visit though. If you come, I swear free food, lodging, alcohol, drugs, company, transpo, concert tickets, LAHAT just fucking come already! hahaha. My dad would have so much fun with all these things happening though, and I think naiinggit sya as he reads this. harharhar :P
fuck all yall tinatamad akong mag lj cut hahaha |
