I believe I promised awhile back to put up some pictures of what's inside of the fantastic treasure described in this entry. Well I have finally gotten around to doing that. So here goes. Oh, and not all of the engrish itself is awful, but the whole description of the Love Pearl thing is funny in any language. ( The pearl has the power of magic. )

I'm editing a number of leaflets translated from Russian into English by a freelancer. Here are some titbits that made my day so far:

Noticed this week that the icemaker inside the freezer at work says
Do not pull ice cube ejector fingers to manually start!
In case that makes sense to you - the graphics that accompany this statement are two images of someone sticking their fingers into the icemaker, one with a big X over it.
So clearly, ice cube ejector fingers belong to the user and should not be pulled to manually start ... the ice cube ejector ... ?

Happened to be at another toystore today. Not that these things were actually made in Israel, they just happen to be sold here. But they were enough to give me a laugh :)

There's a group that sells these books and junk at schools to the teachers, they leave samples in the staff room and you can look them over and order them. There was this odd item which had some fantastic engrish. Some of the pictures aren't great, but I was getting weird looks for taking pictures of it to begin with. ( The experience of a woman... )
Make that wish!

Yet another wonderful Chinglish expression I discovered recently through the magic of Google:
Apparently, some popular Chinese dictionary gives one definition of 電 (electric) as "give or get an electric shock". So naturally, as Google reveals, people run with it regardless of context.
I'm not sure I really want to buy products described as "give or get an electric shock". :-D
Feel free to share any particularly amusing quotes from that Google search in the comments...

So, I'm taking Japanese as a language course in high school, which requires us to send emails to our epals from a high school in Japan.
My epal sent this to me last night:
Japan is too hot to play the runnning. The Democratic Party presidential candidate is Obama. Which do you like better Obama or Makein?
And this last week:

I have two Engrish tee shirts for sale. One is the "cubic cube" shirt from engrish.com, and the other is (a vaguely threatening) one from Thailand.

I do Postcrossing as a hobby--basically you send postcards to random people, and other random people send you postcards back. It's fun. Today I got the address for this person:
hi~guys I am like the female student the female student,This year 25 years old,Likes listening to the music, the travel, the religion.By the friend introduced has known the famous postcard exchange website.Likes me which travels hoping may receive the world each place different famous postcard.I come from Taiwan.By no means mainland China.Very happy may know each.
...and I'm more confused than I was before. (She likes listening to the travel?) She lists English as one of the languages she can speak. Somehow I'm doubtful of that.
Well, the card I'm sending her isn't famous, but I don't think there are very many world-renowned postcards, are there? I certainly don't have any. Unless the souvenir postcard I got at the Empire State Building counts.

I would assume this has been posted but I've never seen it.
How to Good-Bye Depression: If You Constrict Anus 100 Times Everyday. Malarkey? or Effective Way?
"I think constricting anus 100 times and denting navel 100 times in succession everyday is effective to good-bye depression and take back youth. You can do so at a boring meeting or in a subway. I have known 70-year-old man who has practiced it for 20 years. As a result, he has good complexion and has grown 20 years younger. His eyes sparkle. He is full of vigor, happiness and joy. He has neither complained nor born a grudge under any circumstance. Furthermore, he can make love three times in succession without drawing out.
In addition, he also can have burned a strong beautiful fire within his abdomen. It can burn out the dirty stickiness of his body, release his immaterial fiber or third attention which has been confined to his stickiness. Then, he can shoot out his immaterial fiber or third attention to an object, concentrate on it and attain happy lucky feeling through the success of concentration.
If you don't know concentration which gives you peculiar pleasure, your life looks like a hell. "
Apparently the book is complete engrish.
