Friends Only
Let me introduce myself: I am me. You can call me whatever you want. I've gone through a lot of names over the past four years. Most commonly, you'll hear me referred to as Medi, but don't be surprised to see Alethia, Megan, or something different variations as well.
I am a young woman with an interesting viewpoint on life—interesting in that it varies greatly from the common opinion in the United States, and particularly in the South, where I live. Edenton is a small town in North Carolina that has a strange population of people. If you visited, you would see everyone from conservative white gentlemen who regularly attend church and still refer to blacks by offensive names to an unusually high number of high school students who are quite comfortable professing their alternative sexualities and religions to the population. I love my town, even if I could live without the more intolerant of them. I love my town so much that one of my top choices for college (Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland) is in a town almost identical to it. Only Edenton is better, because it used to be the capital of North Carolina in colonial times.
Let's walk through this "interesting viewpoint" I claim to have, shall we? Let's start with sexuality. I am pansexual. It's kind of like being bisexual, only I feel like I have to make the distinction of accepting gender-queer individuals—those who deviate from standard gender equations and do not accept the labels of female and male. I have no problem having the "bisexual" label either, since I used to believe I was in middle school. It's better than being called "half-gay"—especially when you find out the other person is not joking.
I am a feminist. I'm not one of those feminist who feel the need to put down the males in order to further the female population—that's not feminism, that's misandry. Feminism is the belief that women are on an equal level with men—not above or below them, not in front of or behind them, but beside them.
I am a liberal libertarian who has massive respect for most political groups, until it comes to trampling the rights of the minority in order to further the traditions of the majority. I support the Democratic nominees, because their campaigns are closest to what I hope for the U.S. to achieve, however falsely they might be presenting their selves. In the 2008 Presidential election, I support Barack Obama.
I also believe that polyamory and polygamy are perfectly fine as long as all parties have consented happily to them. I support the idea of government-sanctioned same-sex marriage, or (more favourably) there should be no government-sanctioned marriage at all. I am pro-choice. Guns should be moderately controlled. I am socially liberal and fiscally moderate.
Religion is a subject of mine that could, perhaps, baffle quite a few people. I think the closest organized religion that can come close to fully encompassing my beliefs has to be Wicca. There's a lot more to them than that, I'm afraid. I believe that if you believe it will happen, it will come true for you. If a Christian believes in Heaven and Hell and that they have lived a fruitful life devoted to God, then they will go to Heaven. Conversely, I don't believe it means that all of the people that Christian considers sinners will go to Hell, because your beliefs can't influence another person's life, unless that person believes it as well. (I use Christianity, because most people are at least familiar with it, not to bash the religion.) Like I said, it's mind-boggling.
I am a heritage mutt, because I have Cherokee, English, Italian, and Welsh blood running through my veins. I'm not big on heritage much, but it's an interesting fact I thought I could share.
I am in love with literature of all kinds. I love creative writing. In fact, one ambition of mine is to become an accomplished writer. I love it when authors create a connection between the readers and their characters, as well as beautiful imagery (when the description is not so much as to bore the reader to death). I also have a deep appreciation and love for Nature and all of Her creations; the destruction of such beauty tears me apart for all of the lives ruined.
I find the symbolism of serpents and spiders fascinating, but I would never touch them in reality. Rottweilers scare me too. I'm a coward when it comes to them. I would, however, love to cuddle kittens and smaller dogs. When I become independent after college, the first things I want to get are kittens and puppies. I love all kinds of music, but my favourite types are those I can dance to, such as powerpop and electronica, as well as 80s music. Give me some 80s music to listen to and I'm a happy little turtle. I am obsessed with Harry Potter and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I read and write fan-fiction for these fandoms, as well as a few others. I adore fandom clichés.

I added you, by the way.
Your interests rock. :x
You know, your Gundam Wing pairings are kind of wacky (but nowhere near as wacky as my Harry Potter pairings *cough*).
Check out the first two polls. The first is my Holiday Mail Poll and the second one is a poll for filters. Just thought that I would let you know.
