music: Kanye West - Us Placers
and i am, but before i go...

let me just reiterate what i've been saying since before "the college dropout" dropped.

again: kanye west is the most important producer of our generation.

there's no argument. don't front. just stop. i don't care what you think about his lyrical content, his flow, or anything to do with his raps or style or opinions or actions.

i'm currently listening to the mixtape "can't tell me nothing" which is sort of a prequel to the next album, "graduation."

all i'm gonna say is he pulls a swizzy and samples daft punk again. and thom yorke. and he got premier to scratch on common's new joint. and he flipped ahmad jamal's "swahililand" even better than dilla did on "stakes is high" - how?

for the record, i was sampling radiohead way before the roots or kanye west did. but they are bringing experimentalism to pop in a way that hasn't been done since the neptunes first came out... and i don't see kanye getting stale anytime soon.

now, i know most of you (i see you ryan) will continue to say i'm just on ye's dick. that's fine, but there's nobody challenging him as a producer right now. nobody. nobody in the underground, nobody in pop, not one person. they say when brian wilson heard "revolver" for the first time he lost his mind. that's what i feel like every time ye comes out with a new album.

don't fucking sleep:

ps - we locked down a monthly Saturday at Antique (downstairs of China1). what does that mean? it means i get way paid and you get to come out to a free dance party in the east village once a month. new dates:

here.

i'm pretty much done with this journal, i think.

i don't really have much time for anything anymore, and while i don't own a tv or listen to the radio, i'd also like to stay off the internet for the most part as well.

bye.

as much of a pain in the ass as traveling is, i love doing it with ryan. no hobart.

this hectic week involved mad shit to do at work, another show at niagara on thursday, chillin with junior demus and ryan's uncle (kerosene), getting flown upstate for a show that was really disappointing, and coming back to find out tame one wants a beat i used for a ghostface remix. whatever stress was killin me a week ago has turned into fuel.

hello, world.

today is my favorite day of the year, aka when the clocks change. and since it happens super early this year, i'm even happier about it.

therefore i'll reward you with the funniest thing i saw this weekend, while buying slipmats at fatbeats:

“Either you bling or you don't bling,” says Bling H2O founder Kevin Boyd, a Hollywood writer-producer whose credits include “The Jamie Foxx Show.”

you're an idiot. but you'll probably make lots of money, because most americans are even dumber than you.

  scott storch is so wack.

how's he gonna go and diss timbo? he's a really wack, watered-down version of the current day already-watered-down dre.

fuck that. one hit, lean back. now lean back. and stay off the radio. your beats sound like midi presets. i can't believe you were once down with the roots. what a shame.

i never really believed in karma.

but recently, i'm entertaining the idea...

mainly because i'm starting to see everyone getting what's coming to them. i think the majority of this payback happens in your mid-twenties.
