My big training course ended today, and we got our final certificates. Next on the agenda is to rewrite my resume. Not looking forward to that, but it must be done. | | Monday, August 25th, 2003 | | 4:10 pm |
Passed core certification exam for MS Outlook today. That's seven certifications in all, now. Perhaps now I'll be able to learn the secret master Microsoft Office User Specialist handshake? | | Sunday, August 17th, 2003 | | 10:10 am |
Waaah That's just too scary. | | Friday, August 1st, 2003 | | 3:38 pm |
Ho-hum. Passed Excel Expert certification exam today. (It's no longer newsworthy, is it?)
Also, I'm now fully moved into the shoebox. But I have not received the social assistance cheque for this month yet; I phoned earlier in the week: it was sent on Monday to my old address, which (hopefully) Canada Post will redirect to my new address. Also, it's giving me some angst that my caseworker might not have updated my address change for some bureaucratic reason. Thankfully, my new roommate is willing to wait for his rent money.
And, um, yay: long weekend. I wonder what I'll do with it. (I'm hoping that reformatting my E: drive will not be the high point.) | | Friday, July 11th, 2003 | | 5:58 pm |
Today, I got totally drenched by rain, soaked to the skin while walking to my computer class. But after the instructors managed to find some dry clothes for me to wear, I made a productive day out of it: I took the expert certification test for MS Word today and passed. Yay, yet again. | | Friday, July 4th, 2003 | | 8:49 am |
I passed the core certification exam for MS PowerPoint today. Not bad, especially since two weeks ago, I'd never used PowerPoint before. | | Friday, June 20th, 2003 | | 8:52 am |
Maximum ace-age achieved with the MS Access exam today. 1000 points out of 1000. Couldn't believe it. I think it's time for a beer. [Next stop: PowerPoint.] | | Monday, June 16th, 2003 | | 7:28 pm |
Have I mentioned that I'm moving? Getting somewhat stressed about it all, since I'm moving from a one-bedroom apartment to a one-bedroom in an apartment... and frankly, it's gonna be like trying to fit seven elephants into a shoe box.
I have way way too much stuff for my intended destination. I shall have to throw out, sell, and put into storage the vast majority of my current possessions. Which fills me with much angst, anxiety, etc. etc. I move at the end of July. | | Thursday, June 5th, 2003 | | 6:46 pm |
UK food gift report As some of you probably already know, ghira recently sent me some food treats from the UK. The goodies were Pot Noodle, Branston, Marmite, Hob Nobs, Lemon Curd and Orange Curd. Believe it or not, I liked all of it. ( Oh, really?... ) | | Friday, May 30th, 2003 | | 11:27 pm |
Aced the Core Excel certification exam, today. Yay me, yet again. | | Thursday, May 29th, 2003 | | 6:37 pm |
This week on "My Broken Life" A li'l crisis involving social assistance, housing, and a toe. ( Details... ) | | Friday, May 23rd, 2003 | | 5:35 pm |
I suppose I should mention that ghira's sending me a little package of UK cuisine, a.k.a. biohazardous material, that I hope to receive in the near future. Yay. The expected goodies will be some or all of the following: hobnobs, branston, marmite, and pot noodle. Considering the reputation some of these "foods" have, I'm not sure if this bounty will be a blessing or a curse. I suppose I'll just have to wait and see. | | Wednesday, May 14th, 2003 | | 9:04 pm |
I don't drive, so I walk a lot. Mostly I look at people's houses and lawns as I go, admiring or criticizing as appropriate.
Sometimes I'm distracted by "construction" being done on the roads. This means that one side or all of a road is completely torn up, and there's lots of bright orange signage nearby, and maybe a few gigantic vehicle-things with big claws or shovel attachments. I think of them as mechanical dinosaurs, and they always seem anachronistic to me, as if they don't really belong in this time period.
And sometimes I'm distracted by the litter on the ground. I often like to think that Canada is better than the U.S. in this respect, but there's still too much litter, and nowhere is completely free of it. Cigarette butts and fast food packaging seems to be the most common type of litter. How annoying. (And by the way, what's the idea of accessorizing creeks with shopping carts, people? What message are you trying to make?)
But the one type of litter that really perplexes me is clothing. Sometimes, not very often, but sometimes, I'll see discarded clothing and wonder how it got there. Today, I saw a black sock and a pair of gym shorts at the side of a residential street. Did someone deliberately toss them out a car window? Did they fall out of someone's backpack by accident? Or are there streakers in my town, and I just haven't heard of them? Inquiring minds want to know. | | Friday, May 9th, 2003 | | 3:42 pm |
Achieved my Core certification for MS Word today. yay me. |
