Lacuna Coil [Aug. 12th, 2006|12:03 am]
[mood | relaxed]

Went with Doug to see Lacuna Coil tonight at the Masquerade. Not a bad show, I must say. Did manage to get a pic with Cristina Scabbia of the band; such a hottie.

quick ketchup [Jun. 30th, 2006|12:23 am]
[mood | drunk]

Well... I guess it's high-time I posted something. Being that it's been Feb-u-ugly since I posted here's a re-cap: In March, I took up the new hobby of motorcycle-riding, something I've wanted to do since early childhood. I took the Basic Rider's Course in Alpharetta; something I recommend to anyone who rides a bike. It's saved my ass on more than one occasion. In April, I edited one of the entries of Atlanta's 48-Hour Film Contest, which won an audience award, and an award for best visual effects, thanks to Elli Mayhem's expertise in Adobe AfterEffects. This month, I've completed an edit for the same director and producer of an independent flick called PinWheel. I'll have to post a link to it after the final edit has been completed. That gig led to five free tickets to SLAYER at Hi-Fi Buy's Amphitheater (thanks, again, to Court and Jamie). So, here I am, sitting at Laura's house, watching car chases on the idiot-box, and typing away on the good ole' PowerBook. After a long day of productivity, I figure posting something on my LJ would be a good cap-off. Comments aren't expected, but appreciated. Cheers!

Stay on target.... [Jan. 24th, 2006|12:44 pm]
Classes like Career Development *ugh* are on the back-burner, as I have a big enough steaming helping of editing projects to choke an elephant. I have about 2-3 quarters of school left, and am trying to get as many portfolio-quality projects onto my demo-reel as possible. Don't get me wrong. I'd MUCH rather sit in an air-conditioned room, at a desk, editing the day away than going out and busting my ass in the field and worrying about actors, corporate clearance for filming, securing cameras and lighting equipment, etc. I just hope I manage to have some time to breathe in between each helping.

New favourite business [Oct. 15th, 2005|10:52 pm]
[mood | ecstatic]

After the recent email I got from my brother about Starbucks refusing to sell/give coffee to our troops in Iraq because "they don't support the war;" I found myself in search of a new coffee shop. My friend, Laura, and I found a place on 92 called PJ's Coffee. Not only does this place have better-tasting coffee (IMHO), better prices, and a friendlier staff; but they have FREE wi-fi. That's right... FREE internet access. They also have ethernet ports for those who don't have wi-fi cards. So, come on down, and ask for Scott. He da man!

[Jul. 2nd, 2005|02:00 am]
[mood | melancholy]

Well, for those who are interested, the Deep Sea Detectives episode will air one week from Monday; July 11 on the History Channel. I'll have to find out the exact time. However that is the last thing on my mind at the moment. Right now, I'm in the Hospitality Suite at St. Joseph's hospital with my dear friends Laura, Baswell, Sanders, and his father, Alex. Sanders' mother, Sue, is in the ICU, fighting for her life. A survivor of breast cancer, her health has gradually deteriorated ever since she stopped chemotherapy ten years ago. Countless years of smoking has taken its toll, as well. She is unconscious, has congestive heart failure, and isn't going to last much longer. At this point, it's not a matter of "if", rather "when." So, I lie here on my air-mattress because there's no comfy spots for a guy who's 6'3". Everyone except Baswell and myself are fast asleep. I couldn't sleep, even on this thing, so I thought I'd do what I could to kill time. It's almost too quiet in here. I know if I don't get some rest, I'm going to be a train-wreck at Az's party tomorrow. I just hope Sue's pain is minimal. Such a sweet lady, I'll miss her when she's gone.

Internship slowing down [May. 12th, 2005|02:16 pm]
[mood | relaxed]

Well, I think we're on the last leg of this DSD Episode, which is about a German U-boat called the U2513. Larry Krantz's last day was this past Friday, and Paul is completing the final edits. We're *supposed* to deliver next Wednesday, and I'll post the scheduled air date when I find out. Other than that, things are really slowing down at work. In other news, I've been meeting some intriguing people on the MySpace site. If anyone who reads this is on that site, look me up. Cheers.

New internship [Apr. 22nd, 2005|04:41 pm]
[mood |accomplished]
[music |Cannibal Corpse - Relentless Beating]

Ok, let’s see… The trip to Vegas didn’t happen, unfortunately, because my friend and I were unable to find a returning flight back to Atlanta; maybe next time. I know it’s been a while since I last posted, but it’s been for a good reason. On the Saturday evening before my Spring Quarter began, I got a call on my cell from a number I didn’t recognize. I debated for a moment, but decided to answer. As it turns out, it was a producer, who also happened to be the wife of one of my professors. She told me that Larry Krantz, an editor whom I’d met at another internship, had specifically requested my services as an intern for the project they were scrambling to finish. When I asked what the project was, I learned it was the 4th episode of “Deep Sea Detectives” for the History Channel. The only catch was that I had to take this internship through the school (as a paid class), which is prerequisite of my graduation anyway, so I didn’t mind. I’m just glad that I didn’t choose to make my *last* internship (at Blue Heron Films up in Canton, GA) the one I chose to get credit for. That fucking shyster, Sue Ann Taylor, owes everybody and their brother money; plus I hear she’s under investigation for arson for the fire at her previous establishment. I’ve taken steps to ensure that she’ll never be able to swindle another AIA student. On a more pleasant note, I’ve been having a blast at this gig, and am getting closer to securing a paid position. The experience, alone, has been worth the time. School has quickly become something I do when I’m not here at the office. So, that’s it, in a nutshell. Things are supposed to die down in a week or two, so maybe I won’t have to disappear for so long.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ME !!!!!!! [Mar. 15th, 2005|12:04 am]
Well, here I am, at the ripe age of 27. Still tickin, still lickin (when appropriate), and still longing for a trip to beautiful Las Vegas. I'm in the process of planning a trip for Sin-City during my upcoming Spring Break, if only Sanders can get his shit in gear. If not, fuck 'em, I'll find someone else. I think this sums it up for me at this particular moment. *grins*

[music |Megadeth - High Speed Dirt]

Just returned home from an all-day shoot for a short film with some people from school. I'm doing this as a favor, but more importantly, for credit for my portfolio. I've been up and running since 7am Friday, and am about to go to bed so I can get up at 6am and be in Gwinnett by 8am for another all-day shoot. Can't you just taste the excitement? More to come...

The Calm Before The Storm [Feb. 23rd, 2005|02:51 am]
[mood | relaxed & drunk]
[music |MC 900 Ft Jesus - The City Sleeps]

I've got two big projects due Thursday, one of which I haven't started yet. With the mediocre day I've had, I'm in no mood to work on either of them tonight. I don't know what it is, but I've had three different people today ask me if I was in a bad mood, to which I replied "No, why?" I guess I was just inadvertently putting out that bad-mood vibe. It's not like I raised my voice or snapped at anyone; just quiet, soft-spoken, and reserved. Anyway, for anyone who's interested, I'm adding a link to the song I'm currently listening to. It's not metal, it's not really rap. I just consider it poetry. Please post comments about it if you feel so inclined. :-D

MC 900 Ft Jesus - The City Sleeps

P.S. The file's about 5MB, so be forewarned. It's one of the songs I enjoy after I've, shall we say, tied one on.

You are a guitar.

You are a musical genius... congratulations. Most people think you are a little obsessed with music, but that's okay. You don't care what other people think. You are independent, and would rather have a few good (and weird) friends than a lot of not-so-good ones. You may feel that people run down your eccentricity, but that's only because they're jealous. You will most likely become very successful with your musical talent. \m/ Rock on!

Most compatible with: Drumstick.

weekend [Feb. 17th, 2005|04:26 pm]
[mood | excited]

Well, a LONG friggin time has passes since my last entry. Oh well, life happens when you're busy doing something else. I'll be seeing my friend's band, Infernal Machine, tonight (Thursday) at Smith's Old Bar downtown. So come out if you can. I'm just glad that my school has decided to observe President's Day tomorrow (Friday) instead of Monday, which I have off anyways. So, a long weekend it will be.

"Dimebag" Darrell Abbott - R.I.P. [Dec. 9th, 2004|02:39 pm]
[mood | pissed off]
[music |Pantera - Hallow]

Last night, in Columbus, OH, the saddest day in metal history took shape. Shortly after Damageplan (a band formed by brothers, and former Pantera members, Vinnie Paul and 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott) took the stage, some fuckstick stormed the stage and shot Dimebag in the face before shooting him 3 more times, then proceeded to kill three more people, including a security guard, and two audience members. A lone police office showed up only 2 minutes after he received the call, and shot the gunman, who at the time had a hostage in a headlock. I'm glad the cop killed this bastard, but now metal-clubs are going to have to wand everyone who comes through their doors. Ya know, I thought this bullshit was only supposed to happen at those fucking rap/hip-hop concerts. I'm so furious that I could put my fist through the wall right now. Dimebag was a killer guitarist whose time came much too soon. Being an older brother, I can only image the terror of watching my younger brother get shot in the face at point-blank range right before my eyes. I can't begin to imagine what Dimebag's brother, Vinnie Paul, is going through right now. The tragic irony is that this happened 24 years (to the day) after John Lennon was gunned down outside his apartment in New York. What a fucking shame.

You Are From Neptune

You are dreamy and mystical, with a natural psychic ability.
You love music, poetry, dance, and (most of all) the open sea.
Your soul is filled with possibilities, and your heart overflows with compassion.
You can be in a room full of friendly people and feel all alone.
If you don't get carried away with one idea, your spiritual nature will see you through anything.

busy and lazy [Nov. 17th, 2004|02:22 pm]
[mood | blah]
[music |only the music in my head]

Well, it's been a long damn time since I updated this thing, and that's one of the many nasty habits I'm trying to break; procrastination being another. I think a lot of my time-shortage is due to the fact that I'm taking two classes, which in my personal opinion, should not be taken simultaneously: Digital Media Production (fancy name for a DVD Studio Pro class), and Compositing (with a program called Shake). To make these two classes more interesting, I have the same instructor for both. Last Saturday, my family had to say goodbye to another member: my great-aunt, Anna. Her death was sudden, and unexpected. The funeral felt very strange because although I should have felt sadness, I didn't because I was not close with her at all. I just felt bad for the rest of my relatives who *were* closer to her, especially for my grandmother because she lost her last living sibling. Man, if you never have been a pallbearer (someone who helps carry a coffin from the hearse to the grave-site, pass on it. We carried this damn thing, which must have weighed 700 pounds, up a wet grassy hill. It took about 6 people, including myself, to get it up there. In other news, the film company I work for FINALLY hired another, more experienced, editor to help with the projects. This new guy, whose name is also Larry, is a veteran in the industry. He taught me more in one evening than I've learned in the past year at school. He lives in Alabama, and will be completing his current workload from home, therefore the amount of time we get to spend in person will be very limited, but then again, that's why Al Gore invented the internet, right? *grin* I am pretty stoked about the Slayer show on Thanksgiving night. Luckily, the family-gathering will occur very early in the day. Although it's a short break from school, it's much needed at this point. I'll be SOOOOOO glad when this quarter is over.

All aboard the Pain Train... [Sep. 26th, 2004|01:37 pm]
[mood | sleepy]
[music |only the music in my head]

Man, what an evening. T'was over at Az's last night helping Sarah (Purple) taste-test the Pie for Az's upcoming shindig. Damn, she did a fine job. You Pie-fans who are planning on coming to the party are in for a treat of alcoholic bliss. Even Purple was telling me how tempted she was to dip into the one of the gallon jugs she had made, but she was able to resist :-) Anyway, me, being her primary taster, got a tad schnookered last eve. That stuff will sneak up on your ass like a gay convict. *grin* So, in conclusion, if not for the company, the live music, the prospect of seeing some nekkid womens, I'll be there for the PIE!!!! I recall the end of that South Park episode (Jesus VS Satan) when Cartman had his birthday party:

Enjoy.
