In response to heat they're getting from the American Family Association, P&G (Proctor & Gamble) is conducting a phone poll to see if people are for or against the Luke/Noah storyline on As The World Turns. Even if you don't watch the show, please consider taking a quick moment to support boy kissing and thwart homophobic bigotry. The poll is completely automated. You don't have to talk to anyone. So, LJ/SUP has killed basic (ad-free) accounts for new accounts created after March 12, claiming that three choices of account level was too confusing for new members. Yeah. All without notification or consulting their own advisory board (which includes Brad, creator of LJ). How much do you want to bet they'll soon find an excuse to kill off all basic accounts? :p

(I'd better be able to switch to basic tomorrow when my paid LJ expires. ¬_¬)

Anyone have an mp3 of "Kids in America" by Len (it was on the Digimon movie soundtrack)? The boy wants it for his iPod, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

There's been a lot of talk about OpenID lately so I decided to poke around with it and see how it works. Basically, it allows you to use your LJ account to leave signed comments on IJ and vice versa (as well as other OpenID sites), friend journals, and even upload icons (6 on LJ, 100 on IJ). You get a sort of mini account at the other journal site without having to register and can also receive comment notifications by adding an email address to your OpenID profile (under contact info).

To create an OpenID account on IJ:

1. Login to your LJ account.
2. Go to IJ here (or click reply on an IJ post and choose OpenID instead of Anonymous).
3. Enter your account url: username.livejournal.com (check the login box if doing this from a reply).
4. Choose "Yes, always" when asked by LJ for permission to use your account on the other site.

Now you can friend IJ journals, leave comments, edit your mini profile, upload icons, etc. And if your IJ friends friend you back, you can read locked posts as well.

Encoders are stating they've decided to go 720p (x.264 codec, .mkv format) for Smallville this season (i.e. no HRs). -_- (No news about Supernatural yet, but this is how we wound up with no HR of 2.08 when they tried going all 720p then.)

LJ/6A has now partnered with Snap.com to bring you pop-up previews *cough*ads*cough* whenever your mouse passes over an external link. You can turn this off in your own LJ (the default is set to "on" only for new accounts so far), however, to not see them in other journals/comms (and, undoubtably, in official journals) you have to let Snap.com load a cookie *cough*adware/spyware*cough* onto your comp.

Also, apparently several people who turned off automatic payments after Strikethrough have found them mysteriously turned back on and been charged for service. LJ/6A, of course, disavows all knowledge, and possibility.

Really, what are you people still doing here? Srsly.

Anyone know if any of the Supernatural S2 DVD sets are going to contain a bonus disk like the BestBuy S1 set did? (I haven't seen any mentions, but I thought I'd better ask around in case I'd missed something.)
