ikke bare
når jeg åpner verandadøra
og viser deg bilder av meg sjæl
i heldige øyeblikk
Lik meg når jeg er teit
så skal du få være med
opp på rommet, og så
skal vi bare sitte
å kjede oss.
Og hvis det tilfeldigvis kommer noen
og jeg tilfeldigvis
er litt johann
og kanskje bommer litt på humor’n
så skal du like meg for det!
Da skal jeg begynne å prate
om kjærlighet.

Ben’s life in Norway – part 4
Sorry I haven’t update every day like I promised. Today will probably by last post in a while, tomorrow it’s back to school! No more relaxing until winter break in late February... I absolutely detest the idea of having to get up at six thirty every day from now on...! I had problems getting out of bed at ten thirty today!
New Year’s was awesome! I went to Kristin’s house for dinner and partying. The dinner was awesome, three delicious courses made by her boyfriends, who’s studying to become a chefJ After dinner we sang singstar, drank some alcohol and had lots of fun... At midnight we went outside to drink Champagne and watch the fireworks... It was awesomeJ (I remember last year, a certain someone wanted to go berrying:P)
The last days I’ve worked out at the gym with Line, worked on my project for school and just been enjoying the last days of break. Yesterday I went to see Narnia with HC, it was really good! I’m reading the books now too... I have three new years resolutions this year:
- No more pop
- Candy and chips only on the weekends and holidays
- Work out at least two times a week
So far so goodJ
Happy New Year!
December 31st, 2005
Yesterday I had to got to work again. It was ok, until I had to go down to the storage room and count all the stuff there for three hours. I was so happy when I was done, it was so boring and lonely. After work I went to work out with Theresa, and then I bought a chicken burger and a milkshake at McDonalds to make up for all the calories I’d lost;)
In the evening I went to Charlotte’s house for a little get-together with her and Kathrine and some of their friends. I’ve hardly seen them since I got home from the U.S., so it was a lot of fun. We ate lots of food (every time I felt I couldn’t eat anything more Charlotte put something new on the table). But what the heck, Christmas is for eating right? We also watched a movie called Girl next Door. It was really funny!
Right now I’m sitting in my bed, trying to figure out on the computer how to get home tonight. All the buses stop driving early, and who would wanna drive me on New Years Eve?
December 29th, 2005
Today I dragged myself out of bed around 10.30 to take a nice long bath before my driving lesson. I didn’t get in bed until 3 am last night, I had a lot of fun at Pia’s house even thought never got to see the movie about the pants because it has the “wrong” zone We wathed Ice Princess (it’s just like all the other movies of that kind) and Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights (I love that movie!).
My driving lesson went pretty well today, if it wasn’t for the stupid manual gearing I would have my licence by now...:P I mess up my left’s and rights, but other than taht it’s going a lot better This summer I won’t be the only one without a licence!!!!
After the lesson I went to Oslo with Line, HC and Theresa to go shopping. I had a gift card for the mall, so I got some nice tops at Mango (my new favorite store!) and a book with the recipes og 1001 drinks/cocktails:D We also ate at Subway, it’s soooooo expencive here, but still pretty good! After shopping we went to Line’s house to eat. Her mum fixed us a table full of Norwegian Christmas food. Delicious!
Then we went upstairs to do Singstar on her playstation. It’s like karaoke, with points, like a game. I love it! I suck at singing, but who cares. It’s even more fun after a few drinks. I decided not to drink today, as I’m going to this thing tomorrow and then Saturday is New Years Eve! But the other girls had bought this Pina Colada Mix. I was really sweet and really gross! I hate coconut stuff....
I think I should get to bed now.... I have to go to work tomorrow at 10. It sucks, I’ve gotten so used to sleeping in.... Good night (even thought it’s only 6 pm there now).

Ben’s life in Norway – part 1
I’m borrowing a laptop from my school to work on a school project over Christmas break, so I’ve decided it’s finally time for some new updates about my life in Norway. It will be like a diary for a week, I can’t promise anything more than that. My life is very busy at the moment, school, work, family, friends, they all want me... Anyways, here it is:
December 28, 2005
Right now I’m sitting on the bus home from our cabin in the mountains. I’ve been there for three days, that’s enough for me. My parents aren’t coming home until Friday, that means some days alone at homeJ
Don’t get me wrong, I like to be in Eggedal (that’s the place where our cabin is, it means something like Egg Valley). It’s really nice and relaxing, and I get lots of time to read. Right now I’m reading The Chronicles of Narnia, I’m going to see the movie tomorrow. After some days in the mountains I get bored and want to go back to the city and all my friends... Drivng the bus is really boring, it takes like three hours!
Yesterday I went cross country skiing for the first time this year. It wasn’t that much snow, but it was enough for a short trip (just the way I like it, short). It was really cold and kinda windy, but it was nice anyways. It always feels so good coming back inside after being outside for a while.
Christmas had been very nice. Different than last year, but nice. I got lots of nice gifts, a new watch, some books, some clothes, gift cards, a necklace and all the nice stuff I got from you guys in the U.S. I still have another bag of Skittles left, I think I’m gonna bring some to Pia’s house afterwards, we’re gonna watch Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants! I can’t wait to see it again, I love that movie... The rest of the Christmas break I’m going to just have fun, hang out with friends and only work one day, so I’ll have plenty of time to update... It was fun talking to you on the phone Taylor, Lyly and Kim, I miss u guys so much! I promise I’ll come back this summer, and we’ll have lots of fun (like we always do...)!!!
That’s enough for today, more tomorrowJ

Terrorism
I'm glad I'm not leaving Norway these next months. They say we might be attacked to, and as I frequently use buses and the subway, I can't help thinking about it. But there are not that many places in Norway where a large amount of people are gathered. If any, it would Oslo. I live outside Oslo. No-one is going to attack Bærum... I feel pretty safe here. But I'm scared to think about the future, what happends if we're all going to attack each other, because if they attacked us, we must attack them, right? Or maybe not. It's a vicious circle...

Well, not everything is perfect. It's expensive! If it wasn't for the bus fares I would be a rich woman...

New updates are coming
April 14th, 2005
This is awesome....
You believe that if it weren't for Norway's efforts, the world would collapse.
You assume that a stranger on the street who smiles at or greets you is:
a) drunk
b) insane
c) an American
d) All of the above
You vigorously defend whaling and enjoy consuming whale meat.
You enjoy the taste of lutefisk (jelly-like, bad-smelling fish) and cod prepared in any way, including fried cod tongues.
You can prepare fish in five different ways without cooking it.
You don't question the habit of always preparing a "matpakke" (sandwich in paper).
You have two cars, a cabin and a boat, if not more.
You think there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.
It feels natural to wear sport clothes and backpack everywhere, including the cinema, bowling alley, and to church.
You think it's weird if a house isn't wooden.
You know at least five different words for describing different textures of snow.
You don't fall when walking on ice.
You earn more than you spend.
You associate Easter with cross-country skiing with friends and family in the families mountain cabin.
You are shocked if it's not 2 months of snow every year, at least!
You can see mountains and the ocean, no matter where you are.
You expect all dinner parties and meetings to start precisely on time, if not before.
You fall 3 meters, and don't get hurt. If you do, you're not worried at all.
You haven't heard of "fast-food".
You can't understand why foreigners haven't heard about Bjørn Dæhlie.
You're proud to be Norwegian - and you pass these jokes on to all your Norwegian friends!

Dear Santa...
