Good morning, guys!

Still waiting on news concerning the RAV. They're supposed to be doing the final checks on it this morning. Unless something else crops up the total cost is supposed to be $723.77. When the water pump seized up it stripped the surrounding belts, messed up the thermostat and caused it to lose engine compression and oil. That's the last thing that they're checking out, that the loss of oil pressure didn't cause damage to the engine valves.

I've been going through stuff to sell to raise money. I'm going to put my Wolverine, Gambit and Rogue statues up on EBay. Plus, besides my comics, Lee has pulled out several of his older model kits for me to try and sell.

I think that even if they do well I can count my hopes of going to Wincon as done. This is such a huge amount of money to make up that I just can't justify the expense for me to go in any way, shape or form. I'm really, really disappointed about it but, what can I do?

Maybe next year will be better and I'll get to go then. I hope so, there are so many people that I'd love to finally have the chance to get to hug in person.

I just got off the phone with Brenzel's, he says that our water pump seized up and stripped all of the surrounding belts. It's not going to be $450.00 to fix the Rav, it will be $710.00.

Sitting here crying won't change anything although it's all I want to do. I'll have to get out what I've been able to put back in savings the last few months. That, plus what's in our checking account will just barely cover the repair. But, we don't have a choice, Lee has to have his car to get to work.

And, shit, before I could even finish typing this up they called me back again. He says that there's no fluid in the radiator so if it's cracked or anything the cost will be worse.

I need to go for now, I have to get mom ready for daycare. Suzie is picking her up for me in just a little bit. If you could send them my way I could really use some good thoughts today, guys.

I was hoping to get to go to Wincon. Still do but today just made it a lot harder.

Lee's been out of town the last few days, he was at the first of two work conferences scheduled for this month. He's on his way back today, should be home around 7:30. I've been driving the RAV, I had to get his tags replaced, get gas. It's been making a bit of a pinging sound so I was going to have it checked out. As I was coming down Taylorsville Road from getting his tags the oil and engine lights both came on. With visions of losing the engine entirely from a dropped valve I pulled over, put on the flashers and prayed not to get hit until I could get it towed to our mechanic.

They've checked it out and think that it might be the timing belt, which means that they'll have to pull the engine just to get to it. Which also means that it's going to cost us between 4 to 5 hundred dollars to fix it. We don't have a choice, Lee has to have his car to get back and forth to work. They said it should be ready sometime tomorrow.

This is a bad month for this to happen in anyway with the two work trips for Lee. Like I've said before, though they do reimburse us we always have to pay for his lodging up front. Just the one he's coming back from today cost us $405.00. Hopefully they'll get that back to us before he has to take the next trip the end of the month.

That's why I really don't know if I can justify even trying to go to Wincon, no matter how much I'd love to. Even if I do I'll probably have to bring mom with me unless I can talk Betsy into taking her a few days. Sometimes it feels like I'm just not supposed to do stuff like that. Especially since it's a frivolous expense and it's just for me.

I'm going to try and sell a bunch of stuff, see what happens. If it's meant to be it's meant to be. The car breaking down is probably the universe trying to tell me something. Just sucks a little though.

1) Been stung by a scorpion that went to University of KY with me one semester hidden in a pair of my jeans.

2) Chased a patient with DT's through a graveyard at three AM in the morning. I'll never understand whose bright idea it was to build a hospital right next to a graveyard any way.

3) Helped a doctor deliver a baby practically standing on my head in the cab of a beat up old pickup truck parked in the hospital's ER parking lot. Also in the wee hours of the morning. Night shift was always exciting at the little community hospital I worked at right out of nursing school. :)

Hey guys,

I'm going to be posting a bunch of stuff to sell, both here and over at EBay, the next little bit. Besides needing to try and start saving back for repainting the house we are beyond broke right now. With all the damage from the wind storms that came through here last weekend I haven't been able to work at all this week. Mom's daycare has been closed because of no electricity and I didn't have any one else to watch her. So, that means no paycheck for me and Lee doesn't get paid again until the 30th. So, I'm going to try to sell a bunch of stuff to help us get by.

I'll post the jewelry, both mine and mom's, in a separate listing from this. She's got a lot of beautiful costume jewelry pieces. Plus, I've got a bunch of comics I'll be listing as soon as I can get pictures made of them. I'm also going to try and sell my X-Men Resin art pieces; Wolverine, Rogue & Gambit. They're all limited editions and are still like brand new.

Much as I hate to, we're going to try and sell mom's antique Wormy Chestnut pieces; two bookcases and a Fireplace bench. I just have to figure out what to try and ask for them.

Today is author reveal day over in the kamikazeremix Challenge. I drew delphinapterus's story, Voices Over the Phone. But, because it was a companion to another story of hers, Who Can Afford It?, I mixed in elements of it as well. Mine is from Dean's POV since the others were Bobby and Sam.

This was my first remix story, ever. I just tried my best to do a good job and not screw up too badly. I was so happy to read that delphinapterus really liked the angle that I took to tell my part of her tale. Knowing that really made my day. :)

Sorry I haven't been around much this week, it's been a combination of a bad cold that's been kicking my butt and our having Amber staying with us since Suzie has been out of town. She's been with us since last Sunday night so that means I've been getting up earlier to get her to school each day by 7am.

The sad part is that it's probably been the longest she's ever gone without having someone yell at her, usually over silly stuff. Amber has been an angel for us. She helps me with getting stuff ready for dinner, she and mom tease each other and have a great time. Every night at dinner we've talked about all sorts of stuff and spent a lot of the time laughing our silly heads off. It's been great and I'm really going to miss having her with us when she goes home on Monday.

Since I haven't been here I'm behind on mentioning a couple of really important things. First I want to thank whoever left me my pretty penguin on my profile page. I love him, he's so cute!

The other is that, as of Sept 1st, the stories at Kamikaze Remix are all live. This was my very fist remix story, hopefully i didn't blow it too badly. The author reveal is going to be on the 7th. There are some great stories there that could really use some nice feedback comments. I just left mine for the remix that was done of my story, All Along the Watchtower. It was really beautiful.

Well, I've gotta go in just a few minutes. I'm getting off work at 4:30 so I'll be on time picking mom and Amber up at Daycare. That's the other neat thing that's happened, Amber's volunteering there every day after school now. Pretty darned cool, huh? :)

It was a busy weekend at home. I'm still trying to get more estimates on painting the house, hoping that I can find one that won't break us quite as badly as $6500.00 will. Amber comes here every day after school lets out. If her mom is off work she'll pick her up, like she did yesterday. If she's working until close at Tuesday Morning, which is about 7:30pm, then we'll take her home later. That was the case today so I called Suzie at work and told her I'd feed Amber before I brought her home.

I fixed fresh broccoli and carrots, stuffed baked potatoes and Lee grilled (4) boneless chicken breasts. Mom kept him company while he worked outside and Amber helped me with the rest of things inside. We had a ton of fun during dinner, laughing at lots of old stories and silly stuff. We talked about everything from old tv shows, to the trip to Japan that Amber's teacher wants to take her class on next year when she's a junior. We then moved on to movies and comic book heroes and villains. Which was really very appropriate. One of the things we laughed about hardest was when Amber used to get 'Joker' smiles whenever she ate a PB & J sandwich.

When Amber was little, still in preschool, Lee worked freelance so he was able to pick her up every day from daycare and kept her until Suz got off work. She loved his peanut butter sandwiches and somehow always ended up with a purple ring around her mouth whenever she ate them. She looked so cute! Lee said tonight that he really regretted that he never took a picture of her with her grape face on. :)

I try my best to fix healthy meals when I cook, lots of fresh stuff. I've always been proud of the fact that Amber will try new things for me. A good case in point is that she'd said she hated spinach but recently I made chicken with diced spinach, cheese and tomatoes baked on top. She was almost through the meal before she realized what she was eating and then she still finished. Tonight she told me how much she liked it and asked if we could have it again sometime so, yay! I consider that a total win. Especially since Amber mentioned that they mostly had stuff like Ramen noodles and instant rice at home right now.

Yeah, Suzie and Ricky can be out at every Peddler's mall in Louisville looking for more crap to buy but heaven forbid that they make sure they're feeding their teenager healthy meals at home. Much less getting her dental work she needs or having her eyes checked out. At least I can make sure that she eats well when she's here though so, hopefully, overall things will even out.

Sorry I haven't been around as much as I'd like, things have been really hectic here, as usual.

I went with Amber the other day to get her registered at Atherton again. Hard to believe she's already a sophomore, huh? I also bought her a new book bag and some supplies when she told me her old one had a rip in it. Lee and I had already made sure she had enough jeans, shoes and shirts to start out the school year. Next we're going to need to see what we can do about braces and getting her eyes checked. I'm pretty sure she needs glasses and Suzie just keeps putting it off.

I made an entry last night that a lot of you might not have seen since I posted it so late. It wasn't new artwork or a new story, or anything else like that, but I think that it was pretty important. There are so many of us in need around here, at any given time. We're no different than the rest of the country in that life, the economy and our health hits us hard sometimes.

We're lucky though, we have a community that so many of them will never have, much less even dream about. That's why, when we can, it's wonderful to use the power of our combined will and resources to help each other out. I know what that's like. You guys have been here for me so many times over the last few years. This is my attempt to pay a a little of it forward to someone else who needs our help. I sent Chris $40.00 via PayPal last night. I wish it could've been more but we just had a $343.00 car repair for Lee and I found out that Susie never paid the remainder of the gas bill from the house. Big shock, right? I'm going to be trying to sell some stuff soon now that things have calmed down a bit. I'm hoping I can send her a bit more then.

Anyway, no matter what, thanks for listening. And for sticking in here with me for so long. I promise that it means more to me than I can ever, ever tell you.

I don't know how many here on my fl have thdancingferret friended as well but I wanted to put this out here. I've made a filter to exclude Chris from being able to see this for now because i didn't want to get her hopes up. She's had more than enough to deal with the last couple of years.

She's a breast cancer survivor; had to have major invasive surgery, full rounds of chemo, etc. She's had the whole fun-filled nine yards of slogging through the minefields of living with cancer. It's played havok with her health, screwed with her career and has pretty much made mince-meat out of her financially because of medical bills she's still struggling to pay.

She's in a really bad place right now; both financially & medically. She's behind on her utilities, is short on the total for her rent and is having to fend off collection agencies at the same time. Add to this the fact that she's just found two new lumps on her back and you can see why she's so terrified. She's seeing her Ortho doc to have them checked out tomorrow so if you can send good health vibes her way then I know it would help. She's trying her best to deal with everything on her own. I don't know how she does it but I do know that she is one of the bravest souls I know.

What I was wondering is if anyone might want to send her a little something to help out via PayPal, I know what her addy is, it's teufelce @ aol.com. I don't have a lot right now, as is pretty much SOP but I'm going to be sending her a little bit when I finish posting this.

Anything you could do would help, even if it's just a couple of dollars. In the end it all adds up and I know that she could sure use some positive affirmation of faith right now.

No one should have to be that scared, not if we can help. Thanks, as always, for reading this. I just wanted to try to somehow find a way to help her out and felt like I had to ask after seeing her latest posts.

I meant to get on earlier and wish trunks_angel, blue_meridian and khohen1 Happy Birthday but mom needed me for a bunch of stuff and the time slipped away from me. Now, here it is, 1:30 already.
