June 6th, 2007: What a stand-up guy! Went to my friend Tim's first huge stand-up gig at The Gotham Comedy club. I haven't seen Tim since my sister's graduation, and before that, not since High School. He was always the class-clown you could say, and always doing something zany, which is why I knew I had to see his stand-up. I was actually pretty amazed he invited me. I was never really Mr. Popular in high school and Tim was always in that higher clique. Probably was my doodlings that caught his eye. I've never been to a comedy club before, and nor have I ever gone into the city on my own either so I figure those were some new milestones. I just hopped on the LIRR from Central Islip and when I got to Penn Station I just had to walk about 9 blocks, nothing major. I had to waste some time, so I bought a mini drawing pad and went to town. Anyway, I say this was Tim's first big gig, mostly because I know Comedy Central does a show there, so I'm sure there's plenty of talent scouts. I had a great time there and the comics were hilarious, barring one or two who were utterly terrible. I was actually surprised not to hear any heckling, I guess the Gotham's too classy for that, haha. Tim came up onto the stage near the end, and fuck, he was shot out of cannon, he had a very Dane Cook-esque energy to him. I hope that's not insulting to him, since I've heard around that Cook is pretty hated in some circles. Anyhow, he had some good jokes, and I was laughing alot at his X-box Live homophobe rant. Though I think his biggest joke, a joke about Super Smash Brothers was the weakest, though he saved himself by really selling the joke with his nutty acting skillz. If he's reading this, I just felt he was shooting at too narrow of an audience with such a specific game. All in all, I think he went over pretty well, and at the end of the night, I really did enjoy myself. April 17th, 2006: Mind at War I'e had this weird feelin lately, that I'm not living up to some weird invisible standard that I can never reach. I pit myself against everyone I know, "Tom has a girlfriend, why don't I? Jon is a great artist, why can't I be as good as him? Josh is so mellow, why can't I be like him?" it's like I can never be happy with what I have, I always have o be like somebody else. It's eating away at me and I don't know what to do. Ugh, I hate complaining on the internet, but I always seem to...  Atleast one thing is certain, I plan to turn in my roomate for commiting the most heinous of crimes: Art School Plagarism. April 15th, 2007: Ink Brush Boogey Today I picked up a small drawing pad and a brush, and then, I put two and two together and decided to do my dailies in ink brush from now on. And to make it even harder I'm not going to pencil anything before hand. If I'm going to do a daily, atleast it should be a little challenging and I can learn something from it.  The only thing that didn't go over well was me in the last panel, I dialated my pupils or something.
