PSA for people who link to my sites
I've done some major overhauling of all my sites, so anyone who links to them, you might want to read this. If you've linked to a root deslea.com address (ie, just http://xfiles.deslea.com, http://ratcave.deslea.com, etc) you're fine, but if you've linked to anything else (including a root address with index.html on the end), chances are you'll need to change them. This is true even if your existing links still work - many will be going down when DNS changes take effect.
The following sites have had extensive URL and/or structural changes:
Blondie's Ratcave (http://ratcave.deslea.com):
My Krycek/Marita site. This was revamped in July and has just migrated from Fredfarm to a blend of deslea.com and Webphilia. All internal links have changed.
The Harem (http://harem.deslea.com):
My fic archive for female supporting characters. This migrated from Fredfarm to deslea.com a few months ago. All internal links have changed.
Mimi Magic (http://mimirogers.deslea.com):
My Mimi Rogers site. This was overhauled last year and has just migrated from Fredfarm to a blend of deslea.com and Webphilia. All internal links have changed.
Leading Lady (http://laurieholden.deslea.com):
My Laurie Holden site. This was overhauled two weeks ago and has migrated from Fredfarm to a blend of deslea.com and Webphilia. All internal links have changed, including index.html (now index.php).
Literatti (http://fiction.deslea.com):
My fic site. This was overhauled a couple of months ago and migrated from xfilesfanfiction.com to deslea.com. All internal links have changed, including index.html (now index.php).
Music Videos (http://video.deslea.com):
My music videos. I weeded out some vids I was no longer happy with, and moved from xfss to Webphilia. All internal links have changed.
Green Iguana Fanfic Recommendations (http://greeniguana.deslea.com):
My fanfic recommendations. This migrated from xfilesfanfiction.com to deslea.com a few months ago. All internal links have changed.
Xine (http://xine.deslea.com):
Includes the specials Immortal Beloved (Knowle/Shannon), All Annabeth (Annabeth Gish), and Virtuosity (virtual seasons).
My semi-regular thematic specials. These have migrated from Fredfarm to a blend of deslea.com and Webphilia. All internal links have changed.
Thank You Chris Carter (http://www.thankyouannabeth.com/thanky
TYCC's domain expired earlier this year, and the site migrated to a directory off Thank You Annabeth. All internal links have changed.
The following sites have only a few changes:
Deslea's eXegesis (http://xfiles.deslea.com):
My regular news site. At present, this is updated every week or so. No major changes here. If you have any internal links (anything with /archive/ in it) you might like to check them, but they're probably fine. The one thing that might need to be changed is if you've bookmarked http://xfile.deslea.com/index.html
ArchiveCentral (http://archivecentral.deslea.com):
My centralised, cross-referenced fic and article archive. Largely unchanged, but you might like to head over to the main page and see if any of the new thematic indexes make your job easier.
Thank You Annabeth (http://www.thankyouannabeth.com):
This is unchanged. Gertie continues to host this, and Thank You Chris Carter in a directory from it.
Fanlistings (http://fanlistings.deslea.com):
Includes Friendship Before Faction (P2K), Neither Allegiance Nor Price (Mulder/Diana), Not Without Hope (Doggett/Reyes) and The Sacrifice This Knowledge Demands (One Son).
At this stage, the fanlistings are unchanged. However, there will probably be changes in the coming year. I will probably be giving up the One Son and Doggett/Reyes ones for adoption in the new year, and converting the Mulder/Diana one into a standalone site (it already functions as the closest thing Foxleys have to a comprehensive archive anyway). So keep an eye on these if you've linked to them.
XFVCU (http://xfvcu.deslea.com):
The XFVCU Virtual Series site had some internal links changed early on, but is largely unchanged.
The following sites have been replaced, absorbed into other sites, or deleted:
All About Nick (http://nicklea.deslea.com):
My long-stalled Nick Lea image gallery. For the most part this just duplicates work done more comprehensively at other sites. I'll add the galleries I already have to the Ratcave in the new year.
Artistique (http://artistique.deslea.com):
My fanart site. This has been replaced by Impart (sketch art) and Total Impact (digital art/collage). I'll be gradually adding some of my older collages to Total Impact in 2004, although some of the older stuff will stay on the cutting room floor where it belongs.
I'd also appreciate it if you could let me know if you stumble across any broken links or other problems. Many thanks for your patience.
