Memes and sheep and politics.

Infected by
zoethe and
multiplexer, in honor of Sarah Palin being stumped by Katie Couric when she asked the Vice Presidential candidate to name any Supreme Court decision other than Roe v. Wade.
The Rules: Post info about ONE Supreme Court decision, modern or historic to your lj. (Any decision, as long as it's not Roe v. Wade.) For those who see this on your f-list, take the meme to your OWN lj to spread the fun. It's staid and stock and everybody probably thought of it and rejected it as too obvious, but I'll confess a weakness for the classics, and I'm going to go with "Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, 347 U.S. 483 (1954). The Warren Court returned an unequivocal, 9-0 decision that "seperate but equal" educational facilities were a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution. Separate, the court contended, was innately
unequal, and black boys and girls had a right to the same educational opportunities as white boys and girls.
This case was one of the landmarks and provided a huge part of the foundation for what would become the Civil Rights Movement. It's one of the most famous legal decisions of all time, and certainly one of the landmark precedents in American law.
That it didn't occur to Governor Palin is odd, isn't it? One suspects it was a momentary lapse and nothing more.
In brief: the failure of the bailout

It's surprisingly simple.
Neither major political party was willing to sacrifice the election to save the nation.
There is nothing more basic than that. Neither party would sacrifice personal power in order to save the economy of the United States of America.
My representative voted Nay. For the first time, I'm considering voting against her in November. I'm certainly calling her office tomorrow to express my deep disappointment in her.
For those who don't want to see the bailout of Wall street firms because gorsh, they's all rich and it's not fair? I hope you really, really enjoy the next ten years.
It's me-eeme! It's me-eeme! It's fun for a girl or a boy!

Take a picture of yourself right now. Don't change your clothes, don't fix your hair...just take a picture. Post that picture with NO editing (save potentially for size). Post these instructions with your picture.

It's hardly my fault the instructions came when I was being mugged by a cat.
Spoooooore!

For those of you who braved the dumbass DRM crap and got the game anyway, feel free to Buddy me as 'demiurgent.' Let me know your names, so I can start getting preferential download treatment to your various and sundry critters.
(If the DRM is a dealbreaker for you, I fully understand. We really, really, really, really, really don't need to rehash the issue in comments. The DRM is very, very badly done, and was stupid in the first place. It is a badness. It is evil. I decided to play anyway. Life can be like that sometimes. ;) )

...I desperately need to plan and make an upstate New York trip. Weds and I are in accordance on this issue.
It's been vastly too long. There must be Syracuse once more, and Ithaca and Cortland to boot. I must look upon Frank, Beck, John, Lisa, Karen, Kevin and more. I must see the Commons and the Carousel, using the eyes of a married man, and reintroduce them to the woman in my life, not as my friend or girlfriend but as my wife. They must all meet the Burns-Whites, and then there should be scotch.
I don't know when this can happen, or how, but happen it must.
Huh....

....so this is what 'thinking clearly' feels like again.
Good to know.
Holy fucking Jesus Shit!

So Weds and I are settling in to watch Recreational Christianity. Whatever else you can say about us, we give Christians a chance to testify to us. We are big fans of Bibleman and Davey and Goliath. We have become fans of the trainwreck which is Greatest Heroes and Legends of the Bible. And recently Weds infected me with The Flying House.
Today, we are just jumping into the newest of these entertainment abortions, and this seems to be the worst of the log. Nest Family Animated Stories of the New Testament. We're preparing to watch, and we expect this to be truly wretched, right?
And there is a bad watercolor painting that we're panning over in the opening credits, and bad music in the background, and we're gearing up to get our MST on, and...
"Screenplay by: Orson Scott Card"
Screenplay by Orson Fucking Scott Card?!
Okay, the trainwreck awesome potential of this show just skyrocketed to 5,000!
