ncftp - A user-friendly and well-featured FTP client
This program allows a user to transfer files to and from a remote network site, and offers additional features that are not found in the standard interface, ftp. This version has Readline support enabled.

This is a complete re-write of version 2.4.3 (Debian package ncftp2).

Some users may prefer the full-screen ncurses interface of the "older" NcFTP 2.4.3; if you are one of them, install the ncftp2 package instead.

ncftp prvides convenient features to ftp like tab expansion and bookmark saving. I will never go back to ftp ...

Amen to that. I've already forgotten there was any other way to deal with FTP.

More information on this package can be found on the Debian web site.
(If there is a package you would like to see featured here, go to the userinfo page and follow the directions there to submit your entry.)

Please try lftp. I suspect you'll find you prefer it.

I, too, would highly, highly recommend lftp over ncftp. It's been years and years since I've used ncftp.

I too switched from ncftp to lftp and have never looked back. lftp is to ncftp what ncftp was to plain ftp.

From many ftp sites I can not connect and get a message that passive mode is not allowed. Can I configure ncftp to get around this? I can connect fine with regular ftp but hate that.
