| » I Survived the RNC--Barely... |
I came home in the middle of McCain’s speech. I’ll be sure to watch the rest on the reairing. I have to say as crazy as things are at MSNBC of late, they still know how to bring the laughs. Brian Williams, David Gregory and Tom Brokaw are cracking me up with their commentary about Andrea Mitchell being buried under the falling balloons.
Brian Williams: Another victim of the senseless balloon drop. Tom Brokaw (to a guest): Could you call a sniper so that we can rescue Andrea “Boom Boom” Mitchell?
Another thing that made me fall out laughing? Some schmuck cheering McCain on proudly waving a “Mavrick” sign. I guess their ideology of looking out for their own self interests includes refraining from telling someone they spelled maverick incorrectly.
Also, when McCain starts into his P.O.W tale, does the crowd get excited like when they begin hearing the intro of “Born in the U.S.A” at a Springsteen concert? Like are they sitting there with bated breath and hear, “It reminds me of that time, one fateful day…”
RNC Goer: I think….is he….?
McCain: My plane was shot down….
RNC: YES! YES!! WHOOO!! He’s telling it !!! Oh, dude I was hoping he’d tell this again. YEAH!
( Have you ever realized too late that you’ve been insulted? )

Have you heard? John McCain was a POW! Thank goodness for all the speakers at the RNC who lovingly detail his capture and torture otherwise I would have no idea whatsoever that he was a prisoner of war because at no time at all during this campaign has he brought this factoid up.

~NBC is attempting to get their less than stellar Fall premieres together has now been forced to change their showings at the Paley Center for Media Fall preview night. Instead of screening "Knight Rider", "Kath & Kim" and "My Own Worst Enemy", they will now screen "Chuck", "Lipstick Jungle", "Life" and a preview of "Kings".

I happened to tune in to one of the most cracktastic episodes ever. Time travel? Really? And this whole retcon of Clint and Cord’s relationship. They’ve always had a great relationship, why now are they acting as if it's always been fractured? I’m missing something.

~Is there any place in the US that isn't either hot as Hades or threatening to be underwater? My sister told me the Bay Area was having a heatwave and I bemoaned the fact that we hadn't had a real hot summer. Oh, well I should've kept my mouth shut because it was hot today. I'm talking Tom Welling hot. Tom Welling and Gale Harold sexing hot.

| » SPN Wins SyFy Award, MR and LV at FanExpo... |
*SPN won two SyFy Genre Awards. One to Jensen for Best Actor/Television and another going to the show for Best Series.
Other awards went to Allison Mack for Best Supporting Actress, Michael Emerson of “Lost” for Best Male Supporting Actor, Hayden Panettierre for Best Young Actor, Mary McDonnell of “BSG” for Best Female Actor/TV and James Marsters for his guest role in “Torchwood”.
Speaking of "Heroes" even though I wasn't really, Mark Verheiden, fresh from BSG has joined the writing staff. Take that, Steven DeKnight! Mark was a writer and producer on SV for three seasons.
~This may make me care about the franchise again. ( Kevin McKidd approached for Highlander film )
~The TV Addict has a brief rundown on Laura Vandervoort’s and Michael Rosenbaum’s panel at FanExp 2008. ( What’s to become of Supergirl you ask? )
There are posts in the MR thread that features pictures and videos at TWOP and tasabian has also detailed her encounters.
Michael's hair is getting up there. It's turning into a hi-top. I hope it evens out. What's wrong with politician hair like the wig he wore in "Bringing Down the House"?
~Saw "Death Race". It's a bit of alright. Definitely a B-movie done big. Oh, the things I would do to Jason Statham. I won't say it in mixed company, but it's illegal in most countries.

~Imagen Nominees have been announced (the Imagen Awards honors the achievements of Latinos in film, television, news and advertising).
This year’s nominees includes Rick Gonzalez (!!!!!) but not for Reaper, but for the film “Illegal Tender” which was a’ight but is up against Javier Bardem for “Love in the Time of Chloera” so he’s not winning. On the TV Side, “Psych”s James Roday is nominated!! He’s up against Edward James Olmos so….yeah, he’s not winning that one either.
( Other Nominees )
~TV Guide asked who were the most annoying couple. People responded. ( I don't know how I feel about #4 )
~Congrats to Ricky Martin who is the new father of twins delivered via a surrogate. That’s even more hardcore than Clay Aiken fathering a child. I think Clay will just be around and not involved in the day to day, Ricky wanted his very own kids. Those kids are going to live the life of Riley.

~I’m sure whoever wrote this (I forget what blog I read it) was trying to take the piss, but they do make a very good observation.
As unlikely as this sounds, Smallville will be entering its eighth season this fall. This means it outlasted Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The West Wing, The Sopranos, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Veronica Mars, Arrested Development, and a whole hell of a lot more acclaimed shows.
::cheers::
Nothing really new is coming out from the SV camp. At least SPN has S4 pics surfacing. Here’s an interview with Allison Mack that is maybe two weeks old.
~I saw “Red” an indie film that co-stars Kyle Gallner last night. It was really good. And I’m not saying this out of any SV loyalty, but I couldn’t wait until Kyle was on the screen again. He’s so good. And yes bliss_, he is bloodied and bruised. ( But not here. )

I can’t even express how sad I am about Bernie Mac’s death. It’s insane. My niece wanted to watch “Transformers” yesterday and I made her turn it when the scene came for Sam to buy Bumblebee from Bernie Mac’s character.
