Well, finals are here, and I'm more tired then usual. Too much stuff going on. Can't wait to move, can't wait to go to UW games all the time. Washington has this plan where you can buy a $35 pass and it'll get you into all (well, most, excluding post season) home baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, and apparently non-conference women's basketball. Unbelievable deal! So I'm gonna buy that and go to as many softball and baseball games as I can (since it'll be that season when I get there next year). The Diamond Dawgs (baseball) are doing fairly well, but kinda struggling in Pac 10 play. Tim Linecum could be the best pitcher in the nation. Even cooler, he's on my Facebook (I randomly friend UW athletes, it's kinda fun) and I signed his wall. He was cool enough to message me back! Awesome dude. Rumor has it he could be going to Kansas City number 1, but I'm bias, I want him going to the Mariners! I've also become a huge fan of the softball team. They're very nice as well. I saw their game last Saturday against Oregon State, when they lost when Aimee Minor was called out in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs when trying to come home on what would've been the game tying run. Poor Aimee, I really felt for her when that happened. It was cool seeing some friends from my Facebook, especially Nicole Moojen, who I actually talk to quite a bit on Facebook. Husky basketball is gonna be loaded. While B-Roy is leaving, the Huskies have signed two top state prospects. Isaiah Thomas (I'm not making that name up), and Spencer Hawes, a SEVEN FOOTER from Seattle. Add to them two Quincy Poindexter out of California, Phil Nelson from Oregon, and Adrian Oliver, a guard from California....and Romar's signing class has just become a GRAND SLAM. WOW! Unebelievable, considering when I was younger, I didn't even know the Huskies HAD a basketball team. As for football, hopefully they can improve. Hard to say how they'll do. 5 or 6 wins is a reasonable goal. Hope they do well! |

New Millionaire host?

OK, so most of us have probably heard that Meredith is the new host of the Today Show with Matt Lauer. Not a huge surprise. Now the big question...will Meredith stay with Millionaire? My guess is, no. Not only because she'll be working for NBC and working with a (pretty much) ABC show (I know it's syndicated, but c'mon), but working on the Today Show is a pain to do anything else, at least something daily. So I've got a kind of weird suggestion for the new host. The host should be, Dana Jacobson. I know, a weird choice. She's one of the hosts on ESPN2's Morning Show "Cold Pizza." Think about it. I say, since Meredith is a woman, then they should replace her with one. And how many of us when we heard Meredith was hired said, "Oh god...what?!" I mean, I wasn't sure a woman could handle it, and I was wrong. Meredith was better then Regis, IMO. So I say, Disney, want a good female host for your show, look no further then Cold Pizza! Moving is happening, that's all I can say, lol. Nothing completely final yet, except we're going. I'm going in January, to do my internship. I've applied to the Seattle Sounders for an internship. We'll see how that goes. |

| » Editorial: NBC Sunday Night Football.....who's announcing? |
OK, so since the day we found out the NFL was returning to the Peacock, we knew John Madden would probably end up as the analyst. That happened. Then, Dick Ebersol thought there'd be no way Al Michaels wouldn't leave ABC for NBC, and have the MNF booth moving to NBC. That didn't happen, as Michaels decided to just switch to ABC's brother ESPN. Since then, NBC's "search" has been a laugher. One rumor was Notre Dame and Arena Football lead announcer Tom Hammond would get the job. Reportedly Madden himself nixed that. Not surprising, Hammond's a rather quiet announcer, not the type Pat Summerall used to be, but he really needs more help from his analyst (Pat Haden on said ND and AFL telecasts). One rumor has Chris Collinsworth, who was hired to be on the pregame show with Bob Costas, instead becoming the play by play man. If that happens.....that'd be a disaster waiting to happen. I have a few ideas. Mike Patrick: ESPN announcer currently. Wouldn't it be something if Patrick gets to announce a Super Bowl finally? He deserves it. Tim Brando: Great booming voice. Hasn't done NFL announcing in a while, but he's a great announcer. Currently a studio host on CBS, and is a radio host on Sporting News Radio. Howard David: I know, he's a radio guy. But he has a good voice, and I think given the opportunity could do a great job. Costas would be great too, but it sounds like he wants to do studio. Nobody else really left after that, unless NBC goes after a nobody, like a Matt Vasgersian or something.

| » Woah....been a long time |
Well, it's been awhile since I've updated eh? Lots has happened....unfortunately, not a lot of it good :( But let's not talk about that. I ended up losing about 75 pounds, I lost so much my doctor told me I have to gain now, sheesh! I'm about 6'5 190 pounds now, used to be 265. Yesterday was my birthday and I got some cool stuff, though I got it over the weekend. I got a Portable DVD Player from my parents and brother, which kicks ass. It's got a sharp screen on it, and it's great to take on planes. Perfect for the five hour flight I'll be taking from Detroit to Seattle next month. I also got Magnum P.I The Complete First Season. Only $20 at FYE, and mom paid for it, lol. It's good stuff. Nice seeing the non-edited versions with the original theme song in the opening. The episodes that I've seen on WGN all have the classic theme edited in, even the first season, which used a completely different theme song, well, some of it. Later it changed to the classic theme. I also got Dark Shadows DVD Collection 1, $30 at Wal Mart, great price! And then I bought Barney Miller Season One used at Gamestop. Those were from myself :-P I've also entered the realm of computer sim football. I've become the general manager and head coach of the Las Vegas Renegades, in the USFL2K league. It's based on the original USFL but set in current times. Really fun, and so far I have a pretty good team. The league starts in February, so far I've been signing and drafting players left and right. My teams logo and helmet is the same as the XFL's Las Vegas Outlaws, but the name Renegades is used because the Outlaws name is already used (by the Oklahoma Outlaws). School is going ok. Doing well in all my classes. Going to Seattle on Christmas Eve. Until next time. David

OK, not in a great mood today. As most of you saw in my entry, I won on that game show on Tuesday. They said the article would be in Friday's paper probably......guess what's not in CM Life today? I'm so angry. I didn't go on it just for the money, if I won I wanted to get some recognition. I wanted something I could send to my family in Seattle. I'm just annoyed by the whole thing, I was really looking forward to it. Working tonight, then going home this weekend. By the way, I've now lost 45 pounds.

When did you get your first DVD player? Well, we got one for Christmas I believe in 2000 or so
Does it still work? Yep.
What was the first DVD you ever bought? I believe it was Batman Forever
What was the last DVD you bought? Soap Season 3 and Batman: The Animated Series Volume 2 (both arrived from Amazon the same day)
Are there any DVD's you have that you regret buying? No, I'm very careful about the DVD's I pick, though some have come WAY down in price then when I first bought them. Batman (Adam West) movie, Pistons championship DVD, and the Lightning Stanley Cup DVD you can get for like $6 now. The histories of the Super Bowl, Stanley Cup and NBA Finals are just about given away now in cereal boxes.
What is your favorite DVD in your collection? Dallas Season 1 and 2 (though it's actually the first five episodes that aired in the Spring of 1978 and the first full season)
What TV show would you love to see out on DVD? Knots Landing
Finally, count your DVD's. How many do you have? TV Show sets count as one for each season, sets with multiple movies (Star Wars Trilogy, Back to the Future Trilogy) count the actual movies inside the set.

| » LOL, been awhile eh? |
Well, sorry, it's been awhile, but I've finally gotten around to updating. So what's going on? Well, my classes this semester are pretty cool so far, but two exams tommorow :( I'm on a diet, more on that later. Ummmm, ok, nothing else, I guess it's later now. Yes, I finally started on a diet, as part of my New Year's Resolution. Thus far, it's working somewhat. I've lost so far, a grand total in three weeks oooooooof......13 pounds! That's after three weeks. I've given up a lot of the high calories/high fat foods I used to eat, and gone to things like fruits, vegetables, and more lean meat. I've also stopped drinking pop, and started drinking V8, V8 Splash, more Orange Juice, and water of course. Tonight though, I had a DAMN good pop, and it's actually somewhat GOOD for you. It's the 7Up Plus Mixed Berry. It's that pop that Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa were advertising for, Regis was on a toy horse or something in playground and Kelly was playing his "mom." It's actually pretty good, and only 10 calories a serving to boot. It has Splenda instead of the regular sugar in it, and actually has some calcium and vitamin C in it. Why didn't someone think of that BEFORE? It's not rocket science here people, let's make pop more HEALTHY. Geez. I bought a 20 oz. just to see how it tastes, and it's pretty good. So tommorow I'll pick up a 12 pack. I'm a harsh critic on food and stuff, so if I like it, chances are it's pretty good. I also liked Crystal Pepsi too though. I hope this stays on the market for awhile at least.

| » Christmas |
Weeeelll, it's that day again that happens once a year. Let's see what I got: -Strong Bad E-mail DVD (I actually got this early though, but it still counts!) -$25 Old Navy card from my niece Allyson -$50 check from mom -$50 Meijer card from mom
That's about all really. Not a big year for Christmas around here. I bought the Superman movie collection for myself though. Since I've now seen all four movies, let's review them: Superman I: GREAT movie. Awesome acting job by Marlon Brando (RIP) as Jor-El, and Christopher Reeve (RIP) of course is great as Superman/Clark Kent. I honestly think they could've done better then Margot Kidder though. Lois wasn't really Lois to me in the movies. Her voice was damn annoying sometimes. I think Victoria Principal would've maybe done the job better. As for the movie itself, the plot was pretty cool....except one thing. Turning the Earth around to turn back time? Bad, really bad. A big copout, and it could've ended on a cliffhanger of sorts. What happens to Lois? Instead, we got treated to....that. That was the big hole that I couldn't stand. So it gets 1/4 star knocked off. Rating: 4.75 Stars! Superman II: Another great movie, and it was good to see that it was a true sequel, in that something was actually taken from the first movie. Sucks that Brando wouldn't allow his scenes to be used after Donner was fired as director. Clark's mother did a good job of "filling in" I guess though. One major plothole to me was that Clark out of nowhere got his powers back (after his mom said that he had to give them up to be married to a mortal). I thought that should've been an important scene, maybe it was really filmed but not put in the film. But it was cool seeing Superman fighting three evil Kryptonians. Rating: 4.5 stars Superman III: Ouch, we really fell down didn't we? Ok, I'm gonna be fair here. What made this movie get it's comedic feel, for the most part, was it's criminals, and of course, Richard Pryor. The criminals were your normal mad scientist personality criminals that you would've seen on a old Superman cartoon or the old Batman TV series. Superman and Clark, for their part, were written pretty much how they normally were. The scene where it rains in Colombia is kinda campy, but that's not something unusual in the comic universe, as things like that happened on the old Superman radio show. So I accepted that. The evil Superman battle was pretty cool also. But the criminals brought the movie down, plus Richard Pryor really stealing the spotlight here. It's too bad, if they had made the focal point more about Superman battling his evil self, it may have worked. But too much campiness really, and Richard Pryor doesn't belong in a Superman movie. Plus how Superman totally exonerates him from any wrongdoing at the end, even trying to get him a job at the end, was ridiculous. Rating: 2 stars Superman IV You know, this movie was fairly decent to me. Cheap, yes. But it had a better plot and was less campy then III. Superman battling the evil Nuclear Man was kinda interesting too, and Superman getting involved in the arms race was kinda cool, much like how Superman was in the old days. While not near as good as the original two, it's far better then III, and could've been better if they had kept the extra 40 minutes in the film. Better then people give it credit for. Rating: 3.5 stars
Overall, I had a good Christmas. Merry Christmas to all, ho ho ho!

Sorry about the lack of entries. Computer has a virus so I'm at the Woldt Computer Lab at CMU. Got my grades today, and same ole GPA like last semester: 3.42. Here are the grades: BLR 202 (Business Law): A- PES 318 (Global Issues in Sport): B+ PES 320 (Foundations of Sports Management): A- PES 550 (Sports Fundraising): B
I was kinda hoping I could manage an A in PES 318, but a B+ is cool. Soooo, that's $70 in my pocket (from mom, lol). I think I'll buy the Superman box set with it, with all four movies in it. Well, I gotta jet, check on my computer and maybe pick up my check before heading home.

| » Washington head coach |
Who will be the next Husky coach? Anyone's better then Keith Gilbertson, after a 1-10 season, and 0-8 in the Pac 10. These are the rumored coaches: Jeff Tedford (head coach, Cal) I think that's the best choice, but would he want to leave a possible 11-1 team with a Rose Bowl championship (hopefully they'll beat the Weasels) for a 1-10 team? Washington is looking to make a HUGE offer, possibly over $2 Million a year. As said, I think he's the best, but would he leave for Washington? Butch Davis (Former head coach, Cleveland Browns) I think he'd be good. He's unemployed, and his track record at Miami speaks for itself. He was a great recruiter for a doormat Miami program coming off probation (at the time). My question is, would he want to leave for the NFL again (would anyone WANT him is the other question). Florida appears to want him anyways. Urban Meyer (Head coach, Utah) Great coach, but I think ND will make him the huge offer. Tyrone Willingham (Former head coach, Notre Dame) I think he would be a great fit at UW. The question is, who's to blame for ND's collapse? If you ask me, it wasn't Ty, it was Notre Dame and their administration. They have a horrible PR department, so why would a recruit want to go to Notre Dame? I think Ty would be great at UW.
We'll see, there's also various other one's (Mike Tice, Dennis Erickson) who've been mentioned also.

| » Ashamed to be a Pistons fan |
I can't believe what happened at the end of the game. Any fan who took part in that should be banned for life for EVER going to another Pistons game. This always happens to MY favorite teams it seems like. Happened at a Giants game a few years back (the snowball fight) also. But that was nothing compared to that crap. I'm no fan of Ron Artest or the Pacers, but throwing a beer that hits someone square in the face is NOT COOL. Yes, Artest and Jackson deserve suspensions, even Pacer fans will say that. But also, the fans should be ashamed of themselves....I don't wanna talk anymore, I'll start swearing.

Well, yesterday I got my first "birthday present", two weeks early. Mom didn't wanna have to deal with shopping next week or the week after, because she's had to deal with jury duty. So, I asked for Batman: The Animated Series, Volume 1 Box set, so yesterday, we bought it! Great stuff.
The thing about it, it was a very real animated series, if there's such a thing. Every character had depth, of course Batman/Bruce Wayne himself, had the most. The artwork is fabulous on the series. The series had a very 1940's architecture to the buildings and cars, yet were able to incorporate modern things like televisions and computers seemlessly. It was set in a "timeless" era. The episodes were made in 1992, yet still hold up perfectly in 2004, and I'm not just saying that. Anyone who's seen it will probably say, it holds up perfectly, and probably will for a long time. The old timey architecture contributes a lot to the series. The series feel is very dark, which makes it very different then most animated series'. Anyone can enjoy it. Just because it's animated, doesn't mean only kids have to watch it, lol. The episodes had great storylines, and even things in episodes that might be ridiculous in some series', like invisibility, are very believable in Batman. This was truly a groundbreaking animated series, and anyone who's even a minor Batman fan should pick this up. I've heard mixed opinions on the new "The Batman" series, but looking at the artwork from it, I think it blows, just judging from that. I will reserve judgement till I'm able to see it sometime. But it doesn't seem to have the same feel or voice talent that the 1992-1995 series had.
