THIS ARTICLE PISSES ME OFF! [Jun. 7th, 2008|09:03 am]
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20203168,00.html

This guy's a fucking tool! First off, as a journalist, he needs to get his facts straight. For example, Hellboy did not gross only $17 mil. It wasn't a huge hit or anything, but the reason for a sequel is because of the success of Del Toro, post-Pan's Labyrinth. If you're going to be an entertainment journalist, I'd expect him to get that shit straight. Maybe mainstream readers wouldn't know the difference, but you have an obligatory responsibility to give facts about movies. Not make up bullshit to support an opinion of yours. Also, Ant-Man doesn't just talk to ants, he can grow into a giant or microscopic, which, I'd say, justifies a tentpole picture. My biggest gripe is that superhero movies have been a part of summer movie-going traditions for years, going back to Superman II, following on to Tim Burton's Batman, Spidey, X-Men. Many of them are the reason people will line up around blocks for hours, and why the film industry makes millions every summer. Since Summer's all about big budget blockbusters, the concept of the superhero movie fits the bill. So if this guy's complaining about how they're ruining Summer Movies, he's wrong. He goes into talking about how the Summer of 1998 was a perfect example of how summer movie line-ups should be: with hits like "Out of Sight" "Truman Show" and "Saving Private Ryan." Oh yeah. Cuz everyone has seen Out of Sight right? A fantastic movie staring J-Lo right? This dude has no idea what the hell he's talking about. You're going to criticize Hellboy, not for it's merits as a good movie, but for it's poor box office showing, yet a commercial failure like Out of Sight is praised in your article? Serious journalistic hypocrisy there. Serioiusly, if this guy's editorial counts as entertainment journalism, I should have had a job at EW when I was 10.

Wow. I have not updated this in like a year. I think its bc I don't really do the whole "blog" thing anymore. I think I even have a xanga somewhere that I never check...But I figured I'd break the cycle tonight because I'm procrastinating on studying for a midterm i'm not really prepared for, and finding any way possible to not think about it right now. I'm also really hopped up on Full Throttle and I need to do something since I"m really wired. And right now I just finished typing all this in like 30 seconds. So yeah...I'm a fast typer when I'm hi on energy. I think.

GET PREPARED TO LOSE CONTROL!!! [Aug. 21st, 2006|12:54 am]
Ok so who the hell thought it would be a good idea to let "KFed" on a stage on live TV? If you wanna see something scary, sad, and funny at the same time, you have to watch this....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aam1pDl8wnM

Fantastic isn't he? Lose control, is what the song is called. Unfortunately the only thing it looks like "KFed" has lost control of is his bladder, bc he looks like he's gotta pee really badly (note the holding crotch and moving legs around as choreography).

It's bad enough that he's gotta rely on the talent (excuse me, i mean former talent) of his wife to make him famous, but relying on the talents of kids half his age and tolken black dancers as an attempt to hit it big is just REALLLLY sad.

KFED= Kentucky Fried Electrified Dumbass

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH AMERICAN MOVIEGOERS? [Jul. 2nd, 2006|11:44 am]
I find it pretty pathetic that people percieve a mediocre movie like X3 as a more worthwhile movie to see than Superman Returns. Yes i admittedly will say i was surprised by X3 as a movie on the whole, but lets face it, that was one of the most flawed superhero movies ever. And as part of the franchise that gave us the first 2 movies, that was shit...SR was ten times the movie that X3 was, and its not even doing as well at the box office as the shitty latter movie...Look SR isn't without its flaws too, but VFX were better, there was 1 plot, which they followed through with, not 100000000 different plots that Brett Ratner never followed through with, and instead compensated by blowing everything up. Most of the major characters introduced (with the exception of Kal Penn's character who isnt even a major character and perhaps Martha Kent) had a fair amount of screen time unlike Colossus, Rogue, Cyclops, Angel, Mystique, and even Beast in X3. And it was quite emotionally hard-hitting without becoming cheesy (Wolverine crying and yelling "NOOOOOOOO" or "JEEEEEAAAAANNNN" like 3 times)...And yet, X3 managed to become the highest grossing movie of the year, and grossed $100+ million its first weekend while SR only did $50+million its first weekend...I really really hope people see this movie, bc it will restore my faith in the american audiences that let V for Vendetta flop, and X3 soar. Pathetic.

omg, i'm fucking visiting fucking uni high over summer break. who the fuck does that? anyway king's still a little bitch, and ms. lyons is still a big sweetheart. i totally have better things to do with my time, tho i can't think of any at the moment, but nevertheless find myself drawn to this place. I guess cuz it counts as my roots. Dude's classroom has been mine for like 3 years, then i grew up. so i can't help but visit it anyway....alrighty, so being in LA kinda sucks, but at least i get the car now. makes things easier, more fun...lookin forward to the people i do give a damn about seeing, but the number's not that huge...anyway, its all good. Least I have no class, and i can just chill. Sweetness.

V For Vendetta not doing so well. [Apr. 2nd, 2006|11:27 am]
*sigh* America, why do you hate good movies? Crap like Failure to Launch, with Sarah
"lady who looks like a foot" Jessica Parker can make $76 million, while actual good movies, like V for Vendetta can hardly gross $60 million. This is disappointing. It seems like an injustice. But hell, I can't force anyone to see it, but its annoying that the first good Alan Moore adaptation is not going to do that great in theatres, even though it deserves to. Pity.

I just wanted to say, first off, to everyone who contributed to making yesterday entirely wonderful, particularly to the girls (that's you, Angeline and Lily) and the boys (Blair, Nick, and Brian) who planned and cooked and made it a very very nice evening. I want to say thank you to Vince, Sandeep, Pete and Carlos for stoppin by, because they always take a good event and make it even more fun by being there (it's all about presence people). Finally to Sally and Andrew, OMG, i can't wait to dive head first into 300. You guys REALLY didn't have to do that, and I'm so very grateful that you did anyway, and grateful that you came too. And anyone else I failed to name, you know who you are, even though I don't, thanks to you guys too...

On a different note, there is an awesome war going down between Matt Stone and Trey Parker Vs. Tom Cruise for their Scientology episode of South Park. Personally I loved that episode, and love what they have to say in response to Tom Cruise pulling it off the Wednesday schedule of Comedy Central.

Hollywood, YOU SUCK! [Mar. 6th, 2006|12:28 am]
[Current Mood | annoyed]

At a time when I should be writing my 4 page paper (don't worry I have 1 page done), I am bitching about Hollywood's 79th (or 78th, or really who gives a fuck) annual political tradition known as the Oscars. Ladies and gentlemen I assure you, this is a bullshit awards ceremony where rich Hollywood socialites blow cash out of their asses to look good, and praise their friends on a mediocre job done.
People, Hollywood sucks. SAG, WGA, DGA, etc. never give prizes to movies that deserve them, and for the most part, play favorites to everyone they know. Tonight, Hollywood refused to honor, in my opinion one of the best films of last year, SIN CITY, with any sort of nomination. Granted, this IS a popcorn flick, and not "best picture" material, but fuck, Best Make Up, Best VFX, Best Sound? This movie, in my opinion, was a greater technical achievement than the lameass Jesus-Lion movie where you can see animals talk like they're from that Madagascar movie, but that got so much praise.
For the most part, I was ready to boycott the shit event. Until a film called Brokeback Mountain convinced me that I had something to root for. But aside from decent awards like Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, the movie was robbed. For example, Phillip Seymore Hoffman had a fantastic performance in Capote, and no complaints about him getting the Oscar, but I feel Heath Ledger did a better job in his role as Enis Del Mar. I feel he deserved the award more because he went from being one of the most ridiculed actors in Hollywood with films like The Order, to being an Oscar contender, showing he CAN act. We knew Hoffman could act, and that he could act well. But Ledger really surprised the world, not to mention really carried Brokeback as it's leading man.
However, what REALLY pissed me off...CRASH or CRAP as I like to call it, took down Brokeback. This was a HUGE upset. Not only is Brokeback a better movie, but CRAP isn't even a great movie. It's just BLAH. How could a movie that SHOULDN'T HAVE EVEN BEEN NOMINATED (I felt Walk the Line deserved it more than that) get the friggin Oscar? Answer: Politics. Hollywood votes for its friends and is afraid of change. And let's face it, how much contraversy would errupt if the "gay cowboy movie" won? So hey, let's give it to the crappy movie written by our friend, Paul Haggis, the Million Dollar Baby guy.
Hollywood, you make me sick. You decided to trash the most coveted award for Filmmaking.

A: My Midterm score.

I'm not even drunk and it was awesome. I've been lookin for a fun fucking evenin to just get fucked up, and this was that evening, even without actually gettin "fucked up." Brett Ratner Sucks Big Fat Ass [Feb. 16th, 2006|01:41 pm]
[Current Mood | pissed off]

I have a question. It's rhetorical...

What the fuck is this?

Did someone say, "domo arrigato Mr. Roboto?"

If it's one thing that pisses me off really really fucking badly, it's shit directors and clueless fucking movie executives telling the public that their film is good, when everyone knows it's going to be shit. It's like they're so desperate to sell their shit as treasure, that they'll deny everything that's wrong with the movie, and focus on what they believe is "good stuff" when it clearly isn't. Then come opening day, the world will hate it, and they'll go into hiding thinking they've made a mistake, and realizing it too late. I mean it's like, NO SALE! STOP FUCKING TRYING TO CONVINCE ME YOU'RE A GOOD DIRECTOR WHO KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING, BECAUSE YOU SUCK.
Yes. I AM going to see the shit movie, because I'm a loyalist as an X-Fan. But remeber this: Joel Schumaker thought Batman and Robin was a fucking masterpiece before the shit hit the fan and it took 8 years for another less shitty, but still shitty director to bring the Bat back up a step. Tom Rothman, executive of Fox Studios, I hope you get fired for this. Brett Ratner, I hope you never get hired. Because you are taking down a once great franchise, shitting all over it, and trying to tell me it's gold.
Nothing would make me happier than to see this shit movie never be released, burnt, and started over in the hands of a capable director like Bryan Singer. I would have wanted Fox to just wait for him, but they're retarded, so fuck 20th Century Fox.

WONDERCON!!!! OMG!!! [Feb. 12th, 2006|04:02 pm]

YOU GUYS I LOVED MY SATURDAY!!! Now it wasn't the greatest day of my life. I can think of another memory that takes that one over 100X over. But it was COOOOOOL. The reason: I attended my first comic book convention. And hopefully not my last. But certainly should be enough to top me off for a year or so, cuz maaaaan those are tiring.

The Oscars [Feb. 3rd, 2006|02:11 am]
Okay, I think the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is a bunch of pretentious, self-righteous, ass kissing bastards. I also think this years award nominations were totally predictable. And, after finally seeing Walk the Line, I felt the movie was snubbed for a Best Picture nomination. I don't see how they can praise a movie like Ray last year, but not Walk the Line (last year it was Eternal Sunshine that got snubbed for best picture). Now in my opinion, Eternal will always be one of the greatest movie's i've ever seen, without question, and I can't exactly say that for Walk the Line. But the film is a damn good picture, and i think its a shame that a fine film like that can walk away with a Golden Globe for Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) but not an Oscar nod. I also feel Sin City deserved a few nominations in the technical achievement categories, but as expected, the Academy hates Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, and out of bias would never put them up for any awards (yet they're ok with nominating Batman Begins for Best Cinematography). These people are bastards. How do they sleep at night. Rootin for Brokeback for Best Pic, Director, and Supportin Actress. And to a lesser extent Best Actor. Ledger rocked the shit out of that role, and deserves all the praise he gets. But I wouldnt be surprised if Mr. Copote himself (Phillip Seymore Hoffman) takes it home.

Been waitin for a nice skool day [Jan. 26th, 2006|01:27 am]
[Current Mood | tired]

Today was nice. I think i rocked the shit out of theatre, if i do say so myself. And I'm lookin forward to kickin more ass this Friday, if i'm prepared. I also went to two awesome decals that conflict with each other so i'm gonna have to choose one over the other: Bats or Superheroes in general? The good news is I have a pal in either one, and I've read a good amount of the material for both. In the end I'm leaning towards Bats, even tho there's a chance to study X-Men in the other class, simply bc less work and twice a week = fun times. Also got a chance to visit the boys from the dorms tonite. Nice to see Pete, Carlos, Ethan, Frieman, Dylan, and the ladies, Steph and Danielle too. Had a beer, watched some basketball, did something illegal on Pete's computer (no not porn you sickos), ruined Pete's file cabinet with Sharpie Pen, repaired Pete's file cabinet with rubbing alcohol (Carlos your a lifesaver!), and now I'm pooped. So off to bed i go.

Martin Luther King Day: The Boondocks Way [Jan. 17th, 2006|12:34 am]
I normally wouldn't do this for shows I love. But Aaron McGruder's "The Boondocks" is one show I think needs and deserves to be seen, particularly this episode. By far, these 20 minutes have been the most intelligent 20 minutes I've seen on TV in my life. The concept is not only brilliant and creative, but also inspirational, and the message quite true. The episode provokes such questions as: How far have we really gone, and how much have we really evolved and accomplished socially in 30 years? What would Dr. King think of our society as it is today? Ladies and gentlemen, I beg you to please take 20 minutes to check this episode out, and think about it, just for at least 5 minutes after, because it is a brilliant and important piece. Thank you.
