Not much of an update today. Brain feels homogenized. So a meme instead.

Methinks it's time to lose a little weight again, but THIS time I'll do it with exercise and dieting, instead of non-elective surgeries.

Chemo. Fatigue. Broke. Blah, blah, blah. Although I had a fairly nice weekend away from the house, which I think I need more often.
I just wanted to pop up, say hi, and send this on to my brainiac friends out there...

There's a longer post-ConQuest entry coming, probably tomorrow. Today was infusion day for me, so I'm barely alive right now. However, there's something I think the "Llogyr" players would appreciate:
Logan's picture stream of the costumed folk from the "Llogyr" Game.
britgeekgrrl told me something about the picture below that I'm glad she didn't share at the time of the game...

Anyone ever watch HBO's "Rome?"

OK, so most of the game stuff is done (I've got to go through one more edit of the characters for
britgeekgrrl, as she's brain fried when she gets home from work and quite honestly did enough in just writing all of them in the first place), and I've got a couple of pages of handouts to write for one character (he's got a diary that's important to the plot, you see).
No big deal. I can actually knock that stuff out in a couple of hours. If everything goes totally to hell, I can finish up the edits Friday morning before heading to the hotel, and print everything on site (I LOVE having a laptop and a portable printer).
And packing? Again, no big deal, as with the exception of
ratontheroad's LARP (for that one I'm being furnished with most of my costume items, courtesy of
rani23), this is actually a costume-light con for me, so packing is going to be a breeze.
So what's my problem? Well, I have no idea where Johanna and I will be sleeping Friday, Saturday, or Sunday nights. We can't afford a room, you see, so many people have offered to help us out.
deirdremoon and
tronpublic have very generously offered to let us use their spare room, as they live only a couple of miles from the hotel, but we'd like to stay AT the con if entirely possible.
If you're one of the people that offered us space, could you remind me here, so I can work out a schedule?
(Oh yeah, and in case it slipped your mind, it's juuuuust about T-26 hours to con. Ju know who I'm talking to, oh jess ju do...)

Yeah yeah yeah...I know, I haven't posted for a while. Given everything that's been going on, I didn't want to depress anyone. Still here, still on chemo, still broke.
But
britgeekgrrl and I have a gaming convention that we're looking forward to, so maybe that'll lift our mood. And in that vein, have a flier...

So in the midst of post-con letdown I decided to go to WonderCon. Had a nice enough time, but man do I not like the average comic-book fanboy/girl. As
britgeekgrrl pointed out to me that Saturday (she came in with me to see the Fox Studios panel on "The X-Files"); "Keep in mind that your average gamer is actually a pretty social person, as they get together once a week or a couple of times a month and game with others. How often do you think any of these people actually get out and interact with...well, anyone?" Pretty cogent point.
So no more comic conventions for me, I think. The once was enough.

Got ahold of an actual person at Kaiser...finally. Long story short, between the insurance hiccup earlier this month and Kaiser's switching over to a new computer system, I fell off their active database. Thus, the no contact for weeks. However, it's all straightened out now, and I'm seeing the surgeon next Wednesday, and I'm being fast-tracked for surgery late in March. Further updates there as they come in.
...
In other fun medical news, I seem to have a cracked bottom left molar. Where that came from is anybody's guess (probably from grinding my teeth at WonderCon). So I'm on antibiotics right now to get the rather impressive swelling down, and I have an appointment next week to have it taken out. I'm just all about the surgery this month, I guess.
...
Couple of you are still waiting on me for several things (game related, personal e-mails). I'm getting to them, I swear.

So for some masochistic reason, instead of taking this weekend as one of recovery from DunDraCon, instead I'm slogging into the city Friday-Sunday for WonderCon. Good Lord I'm stupid.
As far as DunDraCon went, it was a good con for gaming (LARPs every day and night, excepting Saturday evening), but an even better one for partying and catching up with people I don't see nearly often enough. Didn't run anything this year (for reasons that are two long to explain, Chuckling Cthulhu won't be running an event at DDC ever again), which made things very relaxing.
However, because it's Chuckling Cthulhu's 10th anniversary this year, at KublaCon we'll be running a Ghostbusters LARP (written by
logan_w and
borderlad), and at ConQuest SF, it appears we'll be running two events - the long awaited sequel to my previous Galactica LARP, and an as-yet untitled Cthulhu LARP that Johanna is writing.
Busy times, indeed.

Bored and trying to find ways to distract myself from work that REALLY needs to be done before Friday rolls around, I was amusing myself with the second season of The West Wing. I got to the episode "Two Cathedrals," and I realized that you would have to have some SERIOUS cajones to walk into Washington National Cathedral, call God a "feckless thug" in His own house, and then proceed to cuss Him out...in Latin.

And in other TV news, thanks to the Sci Fi Network, I'm now hooked on Jericho. Nuts.

If you ever, EVER wanted a few White Wolf supplements to round out your collection, you need to run (not walk) to Black Diamond Games today before 4PM. The store is doing a semi-annual game auction (which I'm helping out at), and someone has donated a COMPLETE collection of White Wolf books.
All of them.
Every corebook, every supplement, every special (like the half-size chapbooks, such as "The Book of Nod"). being sold in lots of three to five books for minimum bids of between $5-$7 per lot.
If you, or anyone you know, is looking for that particular book, and you want a shot at it cheap, get down here ASAP.

Well, CNN.com is declaring California for Clinton and McCain, although the Democratic delegate split is going to be enough to keep the Obama campaign in the fight. On the Republican side, McCain now looks to be the Republican presumptive nominee, but Huckabee's surprisingly strong showing in the South keeps him the number two man, and a possible spoiler. New Mexico and Alaska are still in play, but man, that's enough for me tonight. I'll catch you all tomorrow, as we take a look at how the ballot initiatives here in the Golden State did.

Well, here we go. The polls here in California have just closed. Huckabee, Romney, and Clinton have given their Super Tuesday speeches, and we're waiting for McCain and Obama, who themselves are waiting for Missouri to finish reporting, as it seems to be very, very close there. I really want to go to bed (been a bit under the weather the last couple of days), but I also want to see the projections come in.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know I just posted like, ten seconds ago, but this has to be said...
I've seen a couple of folks on e-mail lists and LJ commenting on how they didn't vote today, and that they really don't care to. Groovy, you go with your stupid self. The only people that have any excuse are those that live here and can't vote (like
britgeekgrrl, who is looking forward to one day being able to cast a ballot). And when I see someone who COULD have voted but DIDN'T bitching about how the country is going down the shitter, or how unfairly some program you supported is being treated in the face of budget cuts, I'll tell you to your face that you should have voted, and that if you're upset, it's your own fucking fault.

Clinton losing big in the South is not a good thing for her campaign, regardless of winning New Jersey, New York, and Arkansas. Georgia and Alabama typically show where the South will march in an election, and with 85% plus of black voters swinging towards Obama, that's not what Hils wanted to see tonight.
Although now, I see that Clinton is expected to take Tennessee. Hm. Well, still too early to call. Let's see what happens when polls close out here in the West.
As a postscript, Huckabee really is a delusional little troll, isn't he?

All righty, here we go. Got the CNN.com feed up, rolling through the talking heads on the television...if I could somehow manage to watch some "West Wing" or an Aaron Sorkin commentary at the same time without my head exploding, it'd be a perfect evening, politics-wise.
So far, it looks to be a much better evening for McCain and Obama than anyone was expecting, but for once, for the Democrats a lot is riding on California and our 370 delegates (of which 71 are "super" delegates). As it should be.

As e-mail scams go, I have to admit that I've never seen this one before, and it amuses the hell out of me.
( Come get me Don Bush, whoever you are... )
You have GOT to be kidding me. Anyone know someone I can send this to, 'cause a scam like this I have to report.
EDIT (9:03 PM): Good old Sophos. They had the answer with a simple search. And here I was hoping I'd have the chance to stomp on a hit man, however incompetent. Ah well...maybe for my birthday.
