Another Cover Possibility [Nov. 18th, 2005|01:08 pm]
Here's another possibility for a cover figure. Silhouettes of my flatmate Panny with a gun photoshopped into his hands.

Sixty Years of Secret History [Nov. 16th, 2005|12:32 am]
We're putting together book proposals in Editorial Management class and as part of the group project we have to design a book jacket. I decided that was certainly what I wanted to do compared with writing a boring old report on our imaginary book. Our opus is going to be entitled something like "CIA: Sixty Years of Secret History" and here's my first thought at a figure for the cover. The drawing is patterned after the box art to some sort of novelty card game.

Nick Cave in a Hanyu Alley [Oct. 7th, 2005|09:03 pm]
Same as the other picture but this one actually looks like Nick Cave as I intended.

Hanyu Bridge Over Traintracks [Oct. 7th, 2005|08:51 pm]
Surprised I never put this up here before. This was supposed to be a drawing of Jeff Tweedy but it doesn't look much like him. But I really like it superimposed over a photo of the town I lived in back in Japan.

Fashion Design [Apr. 17th, 2005|12:33 pm]
When I lived in Chapel Hill, NC I was friends with some folks in a band called Fashion Design. Here's a sketch I did at work the other day. Not sure if I'll do anything else with this, put in any arty effects or maybe some tribal swirls, but I thought I'd post it just for the hell of it.

Rockstar Wardrobe [Apr. 6th, 2005|01:40 pm]
I've been drawing alot on my wardrobe in recent weeks. Drawing rock stars!I used to build my own furniture before coming to Japan and that hasn't been possible in Japan because the tools would be prohibitvely expensive to ship and I didn't want the expense of buying a whole bunch of new tools here. The loss of the creative outlet of building furniture led me to start drawing here... and now I am drawing on my furniture. Cyclical! By the way I do not particulary reccomend pressboard with faux woodgrain as a drawing surface. It kind of sucks.

If you want to find out who the rock stars are I've put their names behind an lj-cut so they can be guessed at first. I may put up photo to drawing comparisons later... although that would involve illegally displaying copyrighted material. Tee hee! Who are these people? )

Alien Asshole [Mar. 13th, 2005|01:13 pm]
This is my first experiment at doing a pencil rough and then doing digital inking on top of that. Also my first full page layout as opposed to a "strip".

Two-Face [Mar. 9th, 2005|04:52 pm]
[Current Music |Dr. Bombay - Del tha Funkee Homosapien]

I did this weird little drawing of "Two-Face" ages ago when I got the first volume of the classic Batman cartoons from the 90's. For me Two-Face is definitely in the top three of Batman villians. As any Batman fan would know the other two are the Joker and Ra's al Ghul. I am a nerd.

This is a swarthy Livejournal Pirate. He will pillage your inane ramblings and then burn your journal to the ground. Good lad.

Anxious Man [Jan. 22nd, 2005|10:54 am]

[Current Music |Just What I Needed - The Cars]

Wow, I havn't put up any drawings here in half a year! I guess I've been putting more effort into [info]efl_hell... except I havn't done anything with that in over two months! I blame anxiety over applying to graduate schools. Here's an anxious little fella I drew a while back when I got my brand new Wacom Tablet. It's a pretty sweet little toy, but I really need to start exploring how to use it to its full potential instead of just tossing off doodles.

Bang Bang Noir [Aug. 12th, 2004|01:43 pm]
Here's something I drew just so I could learn that "newspaper dots" style of shading in Photoshop. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I'm not to sure about the blood stain, I think it could look better but I'm not sure how. I might play with this more later on.

[Current Music |Simpsons DVD commentaries]

Well, this journal seems to have become just for my drawings. Maybe some time I'll do a personal update but I won't feel obligated to... because that would be pretty silly. This here is the only productive thing I did all day long. I decided to do a little sketch of a frog and it came out so well I decided to try coloring it in Photoshop. This was my first real attempt at computer coloring and I think it worked pretty well.

Alien Claims Adjuster [Jul. 18th, 2004|12:32 am]
Yet again, no real post. Just a desire to put a drawing out there. Here's an alien in a white collar monkey suit. This was mostly drawn while I was a bit drunk at a teachers' party. I fixed one of the legs in Photoshop and then I started playing around with filters to see if I could make it look more interesting.

Bonnaroo Sketch [Jul. 9th, 2004|07:37 pm]

[Current Music |Before Three - The Cure]

Among the things of interest I did over the past month was going home to Nashville, Tennessee for two weeks. While there I went to gigantic (90,000 people) 3-day music festival called Bonnaroo. There were plenty of counter-culture style decorations including over-sized fiberglass hippie sculptures. This sketch is of one of those hippies.

Well, I havn't posted in over a month and I feel like I should do a bullet posting of all important events in the past month... but I really don't care to. Instead here's a sketch of John Edwards I did during the day since it's exams week and I have hardly any duties during exams. (I'm rather proud of the tie.)

Unclaimed Prizes [May. 24th, 2004|08:50 pm]

[Current Music |Baby DNA - The Butchies]

These are two drawings I did as prizes for the midterm auction. When students speak English or volunteer I distribute play money featuring my dog Smokey's face pasted over George Washington's portrait. None of my drawings were purchased during the auction. First time that's happened! I've got a tough crowd this year. LJ cut power!!! )
