Okay, so I don't normally update, but there's a really good reason for this one... a public service announcement, as it were.

Noone ever ever buy Fantastic Pasta Snack in a Box with Bolognese Sauce

They're really disgusting :P

*blink* so... somewhere along the way at Swancon this year, I had this crazy crazy idea that I might like to run a Swancon. I madly ran around trying to find people who were equally insane who might like to be on the committee. 48 hours later, we were elected as Swancon 32's committee, running with the name "Swancon 32: inconceivable".

I'm slightly in shock at the moment :P

*looks around at the empty office at 8:08pm*

I guess that's what I get for trusting someone that left the company 2 month ago. I have to regenerate 31 plots before I can go home. The situation is not helped by being drunk thanks to my bosses who kept filling up my wine glass/passing me a new beer.

*growls* and now I can't seem to save the project I'm working on *rolls eyes* stupid ArcGIS. I'm so tempted to go home, but I really need to finish these *sigh*

ahh, burning in hell ;) [08 Nov 2004|11:09pm]
hmm, interesting results. ahh, good old lustfulness :P Odd about the violence though, given that the only thing that I can say was violent was that I've been in a fight in the last few years - I even answered no to some people just deserve to die. Of course, many of my answers weren't quite my beliefs, but the black and white answers were just too.... black and white.

The Dante's Inferno Test has banished you to the Second Level of Hell!

*basks in ADSL glory*
well, I finally got an adsl account, so no more short periods of time on computer due to restricted work internet and need to keep phone/fax free :)

*bounces around happily*

so anyway, what's been happening... yesterday was a loooooong day - left the house at 7am, got home at 10pm, so we had 15 hours in the field. that really shouldn't happen, but we were expecting to be really busy for the next few days and wanted to finish another job that we had been given. Today was really nice - nice late start of 8am. Got to the first job of the day, and got a phone call from the second one (which we were going to have trouble fitting in) saying that they'd had problems and would have to cancel. This was fine with us, as it meant that we could have a leisurely 8 hour day over one borehole. We got some problems with the equipment sorted out, then sat back and logged in the bright sunshine. Got a few games of chess in, and a couple of crosswords - was the perfect day in the field, really :)

Hmm, been a while since I updated...

so, let's see, what's been happening *thinks*

Not a lot, actually - working, that's about it.

Bit the bullet and signed up for ADSL with arachnet last week - I'll have the modem sometime tuesday or wednesday, so that'll be good.

I'm very impressed with the ANZ service so far. I went into the Kalgoorlie branch this afternoon, opened up an account, and got info about credit cards. Got home
and applied for a credit card online at 3:36pm, received a phone call at 3:45pm to confirm one response on my application (the only problem with the application was that it was a little restrictive in some of the answers), and received an email at 3:48pm stating that I've been approved for a credit card :P

I think that's pretty good service :P

Yesterday was pretty good. Did 4 hours work in the morning. My boss had decided to take the day off work (to make up for some days worked on the weekend) and he decided that he wanted to head down to the driving range to hit some balls around. He basically ordered me to take the afternoon off to come keep him company, which was amusing :P I quite enjoyed the driving range, so I suspect we'll be heading down there fairly regularly. Although, I think Phil got a little frustrated when seemed to pick up golf somewhat faster than him, and by the end of the 100 balls that I hit, I was getting quite a distance and fairly straight on a regular basis, which was better than he was doing :P

once again WA proves to be a small world...

I got bored around 930 last night and went down to one of the pubs in Kal. I was sitting at the bar watching the band that was playing, and one of the bar staff put a shot of sambuca down in front of me. I looked across the bar and there was a guy I went to school with :P

Turns out that he'd gone to the school of mines here and is working here now. It's amusing seeing how much people can change in 8 years. So anyway, I got invited to his house warming party next Saturday, so I should be meeting a bunch of people around my age, as apposed to the 30+ people that I've ben associating with recently (friends of my boss)

Had a very very slack day today.. drank a fair amount last night and I hadn't eaten since lunch, so yeah, I was feeling a tad lazy today. I really should have done some washing as it was around 24 here today, but I just couldn't bring myself to carry my washing basket into the laundry :P Oh well, hopefully it'll be nice and warm tomorrow as well :)

Might go see T3 tomorrow - Phil was saying something about wanting to see it... although, if we did everything tomorrow that he suggested, we'd probably need another few hours of the day :P

hmm, my stuff is pretty much put away and everything is looking a little less cluttered. It's good to have all my things around me :)

Apart from that, not a lot has been happening recently. Learning about the tools we use, and doing more processing. Will be picking up our new overalls tomorrow, which means that I can stop wearing my own clothes and get as dirty as I like in the field - overalls look better dirty, it means you actually do work ;)

So, for anyone interested, I had to scan some photos for my boss that one of the higher up bosses took. Here is a selection of them that relate to my job. )
