Dear people at the Metro Rail Transit System:

You guys know that the numbers of commuters have more than tripled in the past couple of weeks.

The least you can do is to keep up your efficiency level, you nitwit dickwads.

No love,

Tchan

I iz immensely boredz [02 Jul 2008|08:08am]
I pulled a nerve the other day, which resulted to me being almost unable to move my neck to the left. Luckily, with a few phone calls to certain familial members and my chiropractor, I'm almost better. I think I semi-pulled something again this morning. :| (I never learn?)

This morning, on the drive to work, there was this dark green Urvan driving in front of us. Peering closely at the base of his trunk, you can see that the van's owner attached stuff that looks like fake fingers. Arranged in such a way as how a pair of hands might look should they ever get stuck underneath the door to the trunk. Wtf?

I need some kick-ass planning to do...to all Manila people, is there actually anything better to do in Manila than going to the mall?? :| Need suggestions please. :|

Back from Davao.

I ran into the weirdest people, I swear. From RMT at the Davao airport upon arrival (wtf #1), to Tobi at the hotel (wtf #2), to EJ at the Davao airport going BACK (wtf?!). Hmmm. Oh well.

Blugre coffee / cafe is fantastic. Manila is sorely missing this cafe, along with this marvelous invention of Durian coffee. Mmmmmmmm.

Paradise Island, btw, is quite nice, however, have a gnawing sense of being milked for every bit of my money, which somehow detracted from the experience. Oh well.

Eden Nature Park is quite pretty.

So. Out with [info]heavenlysign's friends for his birthday. And yes, graphic design books are the grand equivalent of pr0n, before you start reminding me in your not-so-subtle way.

It turns out I took way too many photos again. Maybe around 40 in that short two hours? And yes, 1/2 of the pictures are of Betty, 1/3 goes to Remy, and the rest to the rest of us + group shots + random food shots.

I'm less angsty and vitriolic this morning, at least. Of course, it could well be because it's 7am and the office is still relatively quiet, not to mention that I'm half falling asleep in front of my computer. Why the heck am I here again at 7ish when the office opens at 9?!

Oh right. Makati morning rush hour avoidance.

I actually had something productive to say this morning, except now it's completely out of my head.

Back from... [30 Jan 2008|09:24am]
I think I'm alive? And 23. Haha. How horrible! Not really.

Quite bored shitless at work, currently. Thought I would be the only one in today, as my officemates have seemed to take turns getting sick the past three days or so. Today, another 7am text saying xxx won't be coming in, which only leads me to speculate that the other one might not come in and I'd be all by myself. Oh, yippeyayey?

...that was an hour ago, thankfully, now we're two.

So I'm right back where I started: lost, uncertain, no idea what to do. I don't know if I should weather it here, or to look for greener pastures, and the corporate life still refuses to call out to my brain...so maybe I will do the rounds of the NGOs one more time...? D: I seriously need a non-brain-degenerating post, really, and do more stuff with my so-called life. Hah.

At least there are particular bright spots in my life right now. hah hah hah.

Okay, that didn't really make any sense...I'm quite losing the urge to blog.

Well. Benazir Bhutto is dead. I think our Pakistan office won't be opening for awhile, not to mention our Afghanistan office won't be moving for awhile. :|

Kind of wonder that maybe she should've stayed in exile.

[ music | Blackbird - Luca Colombo, Andrea Braido, Giorgio Cordini ]

I did manage to make that French Onion soup redux, complete with cheese croutes and all--except it went by quite fast that I didn't really have time to take pictures of the finished product. Soup on bowl, topped with french bread with molten cheese on top. Yum.

I also managed to finally make that long sought-after Passion Fruit sorbet--actually, more of a granita, after much trouble of acquiring Passion fruit. Took me almost an hour of lining up at Rustan's Gateway, to think there were less than 5 people in line. Needless to say I was pretty much cranky by the time I was paying, and was in pretty much no mood to be nice when they fucked up. ("Oh no, where's the price tag?" Me: *nastily* That's not the price indicated where I got it, I ain't paying extra.") Not to mention I got into an argument with the LRT guard, who insisted that you can't bring bottles on board, when hello, this is my second time bringing a bottle home. Sigh. Also, mental note to self: Add some water to granita.

On a non-culinary related topic, I managed to acquire that Acoustically the Beatles album I've been eyeing for the past two weeks. It's another one of those acoustic Beatles cover albums, easy listening featuring Luca Colombo, Andrea Braido and Giorgio Cordini.

I AM IN LOOOOVE. :D

What are the odds? [29 Nov 2007|09:07pm]
I actually work quite near the Manila pen, maybe modestly 4-5 blocks away. If one didn't know what was going on outside the walls of the office, one would never guess there was a coup going on less than a kilometer away.

No, I actually didn't hear any gunshots. Haha.

Commuting was a nightmare, as all the walkable paths to the station were virtually closed, so lots of detouring, long-cutting, and shit-walking had to happen. Imagine my horror when, upon being dropped off at the Rufino skyway, one finds the skyway closed, and upon closer inspection, the underpasses, too. Yag.

Amusingly, I met someone from the French Embassy yesterday, who commented that only after being only 2 months in the Philippines, he's witnessed

a) A shootout (the Pacific Star holdup fiasco), where he was right there at Starbucks
b) Storms
c) Two bombings (the Congress and the Glorietta one, whatever that was)
d) Scandal after scandal in the Government
e) An earthquake

and now...a coup d'etat. What are the odds?

--

MOstly I wonder...did Trillanes ever just think that nothing will be solved at the end of the day. I do kind of feel sorry for the Pen.

Also: MY uncle, who is getting married tomorrow, was staying at the Pen. Ha ha ha. And Mr. Schier, our guest at the moment, decided to go to Mandarin around 11:10 am, and got stuck as the coup began around 11:20. What are the odds?

Well, was at the Asian Institute of Management yesterday when the bomby thing went off. Had no idea. (For those who don't know, AIM is right across Greenbelt 1.) Just got text messages about it. So that was weird. To think I pass Glorietta every afternoon on the way home.

Oh god how am I gonna get home next week now.

Other pseudo-whatever attempts at philosophical mathematical graphing. [15 Oct 2007|11:06pm]
Part of my frustration lately has been mostly pondering about deep pseudo philosophical-esque questions about, cheesily enough, where life is all headed. Why work is frustrating. Sometimes it feels like I'm waiting for something, but I'm not sure what it is now.

Work, etc. [15 Oct 2007|10:57pm]
That was a rather shitty weekend. Well, not that bad, but it was exactly what I expected: all work, 0% fun. (Okay, the alcohol last Friday kind of made up for it. I think that will be the last half-shot of Grappa I will ever have in my whole life.) I think I will demand at least an extra day off because not only did I NOT have a holiday last Friday, I also did not have my Saturday. And no overtime pay! Grrrr....

My problem with work is that at some point, it's all become work and I don't even enjoy it anymore, sad to say. I used to be excited, actually, I was excited to go back working there, but right now, I'm having second thoughts...Tough. C'est la vie, je pense.

So I've also been running into weird things at work.

I ran into Ino's father last weekend, who happened to be one of our resource speakers for the conference. So, ha ha, that was kind of funny. Also met a possible "distant" relative somewhere in Quirino...who just happens to be the governor. Lol. He has been dubbed my fake uncle cousin.

I've also run into Girl X, who happens to be the girl who heads the project of Headaches at work, who happens to be this chick that was in my volleyball class back in sophomore year (she was a freshie). So when she walked into the office awhile ago, that was rather weird. Ha ha. And their finance chick used to go to ICA. Uhm. Yeah?

On the way home, I ran into Karlo at the train station, and on the train, I ran into Bea...this is turning out to be a weird day.

stuff, etc. [24 Sep 2007|10:40pm]
I figured I'd make a short list of pet peeves, just for kicks.

-Salespeople who follow you around the store
-Salespeople who follow you around the store thinking you will steal something!
-Salespeople who follow you around the store AND fix everything you touch within eyeshot.
-NOT being given a menu in a restaurant (while everyone else is given one.)
-SUVs
-SUVs with a wang-wang (siren)
-Politicians who ride SUVs with wang-wangs.
-People who walk like they're walking along Luneta (a park) in the middle of people-rush-hour.
-And...people who stick to you like glue while in line. Really. Can't you give people a little space???

...I figured most of my pet peeves revolved around similar things.

My current fear at work is that I'll be reduced to really just being a glorified intern and/or being reduced to just the chick who does everyone's powerpoint presentations and/or writes reports and takes pictures, while clearly I signed up looking to learn some organizational skills. :|

Still deciding between acquiring a Nikon D40 DLSR or a Canon 400d. :| A Trip to Abenson did not help, clearly.

Also: Lunch out with Evert. What a liebchen!

[ music | Hey There Delilah - Plain White Tee's ]

For some reason. I'm incredibly tired after commuting all the way home, but this was a good day.

Still slow on the office-revamp progress, so I had to leave that hanging by lunch. Lunch was good at Banana Leaf greenbelt, some things are a bit clearer in my head, somewhat, at least I don't feel so lost anymore.

Insert geek ramblings after this on Ramon Magsaysay awardees...? )

I am currently quite an admirer of Governor Daisy Fuentes, the governor of South Cotabato. That woman has guts.

I was going to blog about grumpier things, but I decided to link around instead!

According to Design Observer, if Google were in black, the world would save 750 Megawatts/hour annually from all generated page views would be saved. The response? BLACKLE!

Edit: A better explanation on Google and Wattage.

And wtf: This rather feels like a movie trailer for some jet pilot fighter flick...? A recruitment video for the Japanese Self-Defense Army.

I'm also quite grumpy that the books I've been eyeing at NBS (High John the Conqueror by Jim Younger, as well as The Art of Saying Hello 2) are GONE. IN other news, I finally bought The Poe Shadow (Matthew Pearl) and The Killing Joke. Heh.
