1:32 pm - Long range plans
Lee has just confirmed it: Lee Press-On and the Nails will be doing a New Year's Eve show with Steve Lucky and the Rhumba Bums. This is currently riding at the top of all of the announced New Year's Eve plans.
(Suck it, Dick Clark and Ryan Seachrest!)

Also, it looks like I'm not going to Colorado in November.

11:03 am - It's just unconscious knowledge
Remember last night when I said WTF?
I'd like to just repeat that here. WTF? Seriously WTFF?
The famous she's smiling on FaceBook so the rape can't have been that traumatic to her defence. Hand to God. I'm just glad that the court called 'bullshit'.

12:21 am - WTF?
Seriously, WTF?
Below I present actual words spoken on a commercial for a television show called "Sports Soup".
Basically, it's The Soup but for sports. Two nights a week, we'll be delivering a different kind of show.
He doesn't even take a breath between these contradictions.

4:07 pm - True men don' t kill coyotes
Since I have wasted far too much time on this, I must inflict it on others.
Don't Shoot the Puppy
This is, as you might have guessed, all RoseNeko's fault.

12:25 pm - Because Seachanges requested it
I haven't done this one for a while, and I think y'all are due.

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now (even if we don't speak often or ever) please post a comment with a completely made up, fictional memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - but it has to be fake. When you're finished, post this little paragraph in your LJ and see what your friends come up with!

1:08 am - Remembrance of things past
This week, as the weather started to get cooler in places, was my annual "Why am I still here?" maundering. I'd been marking it by the trip to Ashland, but this year Ashland was in the summer. So I'm pretty sure it's when the weather begins to suggest Autumn. So there was the "I can't afford to do anything but survive here" and "They don't have proper seasons here" and the usual string that accompanies me wanting to be back in the Pacific North West.
I don't know how long it'll last. One of my friends here will do something particularly cool, or I'll find a concert or a museum or something that could only happen here. Maybe it'll be when Prop 8 gets voted down, and California stays one of the three states where marriage is gender blind.

I did not actually see the FireFly season premiere last night, but here's a fairly spoiler free review.

Alas. While the stew I made is not inedible, I am not going to eat it. Maybe someday I'll learn to cook.

I decided to start work on Episode Eight of Torchwood before broadcast day, just for shits and giggles. Thanks go to my sanity check editors who said 'don't do that, that's stupid'.

Also, there appear to be further good news coming out of Connecticut. There are currently three states that have legalized same sex marriage.

In other news, sleepy busy sleepy sleepy busy sleepy busy busy busy sleepy sleepy *WHAT?*

10:44 pm - And more politics. Yay
I am Cyrano Hussein Jones.

9:27 pm - Poisoning the Well
Rich Dansky, who is an intelligent and well spoken fellow on his worst day, has just written a post which articulates my concerns about the election process and particularly the tactics of pouring gas on your supporters' hate fire, and how that affects "What is best for the country" and what then happens on 05 November.

The election is making me die a little bit inside.

You know, I see you looking at me, Coca Cola.
But it's not gonna happen.
Oh no. It's not.

2:06 am - Group activity! Sitting quietly in a dark room!
Before I forget again, I'm thinking of seeing "Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist" this weekend, despite it constantly reminding me of The Thin Man and then failing to deliver. People should consider joining me.

12:45 pm - Okay, yeah.
Remember back when I pondered the wisdom of Sarah Palin accusing Obama of pallin' around with terrorists and men who give speeches about how much they hate America?
I'd forgotten all about these guys.

"The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government. And I won't be buried under their damn flag. I'll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home".

How do you fit a rock that big into your glass house?

I. Do not. Need caffeine. I do not need to get hooked on that again. If I make it through work, I have no plans for the evening that can't be put off.

Also? After work I should poke around online. I have period clothing wear for the SteamPunk convention, but I am ill prepared to punk it up. And I'm not entirely certain what I can do to remedy that.

1:25 pm - Hunh.
As an update on this morning, apparently I'm not the only one who thinks it's dangerous to let your running mate rant about your opponent's pot while you're busy polishing your kettle.
B-rock! We should have lunch!

If you had Bahama-vacation level friendly relations with Keating, maybe you should tell your running mate not to lean so hard on Ayers.

In other news, if there's anybody who's free on Saturday the eighteenth and likes either early 20th Century farce, LARPing, or hanging out with cool people, let me know. "Midsummer Madness", a Wodehouse-styled live action game (PG Wodehouse wrote, among other things, the Jeeves and Wooster books which if you haven't read you should and then perhaps you should watch the first two seasons of the PBS show), is looking to be a lot of fun, and I think it may not happen if we don't scare up a few more players.

3:41 pm - It's the news.
So Evil_Magnus pointed toward an article in the Rolling Stone about John McCain which I have not entirely fact checked but which still has several "oh shit" moments in it. My favorite quote below the jump.

11:49 pm - You forgot Poland.
Oh yeah, I forgot. A moment of silence (and pour out your drink) for www.youforgotpoland.org
Poland is leaving the Coalition of the Willing and entering the Assembly of the Disinterested.

Tonight I just pass on other people's stuff. Sorry, maybe originality later.

12:24 pm - You can't say no to the Beauty and the Beast
Wow. It's been days. But you know what still manages to make me crazy?

"I may not answer your darn questions the way you want. Or, in fact, at all. I'm just gonna take my Talking Points straight to the American people, without the filter of the media. Which are, as we speak, broadcasting and filtering and reporting and filtering and spinning and filtering the heck out of what we're saying. *wink*"
