Really, it's been an awfully long time since I committed egregious abuse against The Hair. This state of affairs has now been rectified over on face_of_joe (my favorite new community -- I swear, it's like it was invented just for me).
It all started with a hilarious little comment fic by darsynia. And after I read it I kind of couldn't stop myself.
Two words: Frosted Tips.

I couldn't resist making a few caps. These are from the beginning of the episode, because my wireless network fritzed out on me, and I managed to transfer only the first third of the episode from my DVR to my hard drive.

This one's for kassrachel, who asked a question I needed to know the answer to. And after a day's investigation . . . well, I still don't have the answer, but I know a heckuva lot more about the subject than I used to. ;)
( Spoilers for SGA 5x06 The Shrine, graphics heavy )

I've been in desperate need of an icon from The Shrine, and ended up with more than I could use myself, so I figured I'd share.
( 8 spoilery, textless icons from The Shrine -- mostly John/Rodney )

So I've been getting my aggressions out via my sewing machine. This is actually surprisingly cathartic. It feels good to be doing something. And what could be more soothing than making soft, fuzzy, yellow things?

I was already having a crappy, exhausting day. I needed this like I need a hole in the head.
I'm kind of shocked by how hard this is hitting me, but I think what's killing me is this -- I have no other fandom. I don't fall easily, but when I fall, I fall hard. And I've never been in a "live" fandom before -- when I got into Due South, the show had already completed its run. So I never had to feel this blow before.
But damn it, I want to DO something. I want to send something -- honestly, I don't care what, but something heftier than just letters -- to SciFi to express just exactly how I feel. And I suck -- I mean, seriously, seriously suck -- at anything organizational, but I swear, if no one else takes the helm on this one, I will gird my loins and start rabblerousing.
'Cause I ain't never roused rabble before, but I'm willing to bet money I could learn how.

Whee! sgabigbang is now live for 2008, including two illustrations by yours truly.
This year I managed to mix up my media, with a gen, G-rated watercolor for packyrsuitcases and a gen, PG-13-rated pencil drawing for leahwoof (warning: it does contain a naked bug!John, if that's likely to squick you -- no dangly bits, of course, since this is me doing the drawing).
For the curious, both works involved traditional media with a bit of digital processing. The watercolor is actually a series of paintings layered one over the other in Photoshop -- I think there are five watercolors in all. The drawing should have been purely traditional, but I hated my first Rodney, so I redrew him and digitally spliced the new version into the original drawing.
Both stories were fantastic to illustrate -- you can read them and many, many others at the SGA BigBang website.

I'm done! My sgabigbang art is done and submitted, and I didn't even need my extension! (I had dispensation for 4 more days, but no, oh, no, I had to just about kill myself to get it in on the official due date.)
*collapses*
Now to figure out my next fannish project. I've got a lot of RL stuff for the next month, and two drawings to figure out, but I'm jonsing to be writing. Still, I don't have a plot idea that's grabbing and shaking me, so if I can hold off for a month or two on writing, I might actually be able to do all the things I need to do. *crosses fingers*
