Guide Two: Photoshop 7 Terms
If you don't understand a term I use in my tutorials or how to do something like changing the blend mode of a layer to exclusion, this is where to look. If I missed something, let me know.

Blend Modes
Exclusion and soft light are examples of blend modes. The option to change a layers blend mode can be found on the layers window (Window-->Layers). Blend modes can also be used on text.

Cropping
The cropping tool can be found in the tools window (Window-->Tools). When selected, on the options window (Window-->Options) you can select the width and height you would like to crop the image to.

Desaturate
When you desaturate (Image-->Adjustments-->Desaturate) an image, it makes it black and white.
Duplicate Image
Duplicating an image (Image-->Duplicate) creates an exact copy (layers and all) of the image you're choosing to duplicate.
Duplicate Layers
I usually use duplicate layer (Layer-->Duplicate Layer...) to duplicate the background layer so that I can lighten an image by setting the copied background layer to screen.
Gaussian Blur
Gaussian blur (Filter-->Blur-->Gaussian Blur...) is just blurring an image but it lets you choose the degree (radius) of blurring where as blur and blur more are already set at a fixed radius.
Hue
Hue (Image-->Adjustments-->Hue/Saturation) is a gradation of color. If you check the box next to the word colorize the image becomes one color. If it is not checked, the image remains multi-colored.
Merging Layers
When you merge layers there are three options. You can merge the layer you have selected with the one below it (Layer-->Merge Down). You can merge all the visible layers together (Layer-->Merge Visible) creating one image with no layers. Or you can flatten the image (Layer-->Flatten Image) which is basically the same as merging visible layers except sometimes there are invisible layers that you can't see and it merges those together as well.
New Layers
New layers (Layer-->New-->Layer... or Shift+Ctrl+N) are usually filled with a new color and the blend mode of that layer changed to change the coloring of the image you are working with. When creating a new layer, a window pops up. You can adjust the settings however you wish. Layers are visible on the layers window (Window-->Layers).

Opacity
The opacity of a layer (Window-->Layers) changes the transparency. You must first select a layer (Window-->Layers), it cannot be the baground layer but it can be a text layer and the layer must not be locked.
Saturation
