This journal is friends only. Comment to be added.

I've had a great ride being free to the world, but I'm at the point now where I just want to know who's reading this journal.

I don't bite and I'm not trying to be a diva of any sort, so feel free to comment here and I'm pretty sure I'll friend you back. Thanks for understanding and enjoy this new incarnation of The Adopted Australian...

i ♥ yahoo widgets. :)

I decided to expand my use of widgets this evening. I went and first found the BBC Radio Widget which lets me listen to EVERY BBC RADIO STATION IMAGINABLE, including World Service. Currently in my hidden radio favorites are Radio 1, Radio Wales, Radio Cymru (which I don't understand, but LOVE ANYWAYS), and Radio London.

*GLEE*

Other widgets featured are the widget for Triple J Radio down in AUS, a Gir quote widget, and the standards of Weather and Outlook.

I am so pleased with myself. Now if only the widget i d/led for Nova 96.9 would work I would be officially back in 2004. :)

I really should be in bed. Instead? I'm writing fic. I'll be kicking myself in the morning.

Wait, it is morning. DAMN.

What We Will Become
Fandom: Children of Dune - movie!verse
Paring: Leto II/Ghanima
Rating: PG-13
Length: 725 words
Summary: A sequel to 'The Way We Are Together'. Follows immediately after. What I wanted to write but was too afraid to. Leto POV.

Author's Note: I have an unhealthy love of THIS ROOM, and it shows. This one's a little longer, and a little more incest-y. Alas, the slippery slope continues.

[mcavoy is the enabler.]
I've only recently watched SciFi channel's Children of Dune miniseries. I've been a fan of the 1894 Dune movie but only after the two Skiffy mini's had been shown, but like my subject says, 'McAvoy is the enabler.'

Because I have CoD on the brain, my subconscious got in on the game too, throwing a dream at me which I've translated into fic. That seems to be the only way I can get myself to write these days.

So, for the one person who will actually read this and understand it, here it is.

The Way We Are Together
Fandom: Children of Dune - movie!verse
Paring: Leto II/Ghanima (if you squint)
Rating: PG
Length: 612 words

Author's Note: In the CoD novel, Leto and Ghani marry. For symbolic reasons, of course. ;) Also, the wise woman mentioned is all my doing. She's not real, but the station she holds is. Carry on...

All she wants is her brother. )

Ay me, fandom is a slippery slope...

[notice of impending cut.]
I'm feeling smothered.

It's always been my intent that I wanted to be involved with the people who I had friended here, and I've been failing horribly in that respect. So over the next few days I'm going to be doing a massive friends list cut, scaling back on both journals and communities.

If you do find yourself not able to read my entries, please understand that I'm... in a really weird head place at the moment. I take a look at my main journal page and see that only a handful of entries have been commented to, and I take that in turn to mean that possibly I'm getting back some karma or other such nonsense.

I love all of you and hold you all in the highest respects, but I really need to bring this journal back to a managable size, back to a place where I know I can be a good friend - communicate, be a part of your online lives instead of being a name on a profile page.

I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings. And if you feel the same, feel free to defriend me. It's always LJ Amnesty Day over here.

[stairway to heaven.]
A storm's a brewin'.

I've been sort of mum on the subject, but I'm a member of the [info]nostairway staff. Some of you may ask, what is this [info]nostairway and why should I care?

[info]nostairway and it's sister site will be a sort of archive/'zine where the intent is to have a single place where you can point and say, 'there. there's good SPN fic.' and really mean it. There was a bit of kerfluffle when the idea was originally posed a few months ago, regaling on how high-minded we were to think we were the authority on what was worthy of being called 'the best'. However, we've gone through great lengths to show complete transparency on the issue.

Now, with the technological jargon out of the way, WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS starting March 10th. And yours truly, as a member of the Editorial Oversight Board, will do her best to partner with her fellow board members to put together a kickass archive that fits fandom's need for SPN fic, no matter what genre.

Head over and take a look! Poke your fic writing friends to submit! Submit something yourself! It's gonna be a blast. :)

[fifty foreign films for two-thousand eight.]
I'm taking a page from [info]indilime and [info]savvy_elf and making a list of movies. Although, I have to make it difficult for myself and do foreign films. I've always loved foreign films, but never get the chance to see any. Well, being the pirate that I am, I don't see what's stopping me.

So, 50 foreign films in a year? That shouldn't be so bad. I got one under my belt just this evening. ;)

I finally got my hands on a copy of A.I. Artificial Intelligence yesterday at Wal-Mart for $5. It's only fault? It's fullscreen. But for five bucks? I'll take it. I also got PoTC: Dead Man's Chest, PotC: At World'd End, and The Bourne Ultimatium as well. I'm just really excited to finally have A.I., 'cause I really needed it for research for Life.

Too bad it's fullscreen. ;)

[i took a good, long look.]
I just spent the last three hours or so re-evaluating my friends list. I added back some comms I'd defriended, I completely removed myself from some, and I also defriended about 30 journals.

My friends list was getting unruly, and if our fandoms had diverted, we didn't talk, or didn't gel, that was the reasoning behind the mass defriending. Some of the journals defriended I've had friended since I first got an LJ, so it was really, really difficult.

Sorry.

As always, you all have the right to come and go as you please for the same reasons. I will never get upset, and I hope all of you would offer me the same courtesy.

See y'all around, I suppose.

I'll get my holiday card address poll out shortly, but I wanted to do this before I forgot...

The Christmas/Holiday Wishlist

Step One
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a SGA/Ghost Hunters icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
Surf around your friends-list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not—it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Step Three - The List. )

Hey, let me know if you've got something like this. I've seen a couple already, but for the life of me, I couldn't say where.
