I did not wake up until 11:15.

Class started at 8:00.

I came in to at least get some credit time today and to turn in my video proposal, but they are doing something in there and I don't want to bust in in the middle of it and be all rude and shit.

::curls into ball and cries::

week 2 is not a good time to be sleeping in already.

I hate my neighbors.

Sleep Deprivation
OMG

I didn't get to sleep at all last night (this morning) before class. I meant to go to bed at 3 but then didn't get to go to bed until like 4:30 due to the fact that I am stupid and forgot I had homework due this morning. HAHAHAHA.

And then I went to bed at 4:30(ish) and could not fall asleep. At all. Not even a little.

This could be due to the fact that i didn't wake up until, like, 3:30(ish) yesterday afternoon.

EEEEEP.

So at 7 I got up and made coffee and read a book for a while.

And somehow, my coffee is only JUST NOW (like 4 hours later) kicking in. I am soooo jittery all of a sudden.

EEEEEP.

I should eat!

Now I think they should each keep regular blogs. Like BNL does (even though Steve is the only one who really ever posts, and not very often anymore... :-( )

Is anyone else having all kinds of random problem with Firefox since updating to the new version? Like, having it shut off at random nearly once a day, or (as mine just did) start up as only a tiny taskbar with the minimize windows option and not seem to want to maximize until you've told it to several times?

New Firefox irks me. :-(

In other news, I love V8 <3.

Also, I think my 'investigative reporting' topic for my 10-12 minute Senior Project ENG news piece is going to be ::drumroll:: New planets and planetary classifications. This has been in the news a lot lately, with the new "Plutoid" classification, and the planetoids Makemake was just this month declared to be one of those. So I figure covering the last several years in decisions effecting the whole solar system (from the discovery of Makemake to Pluto's no longer being a planet), I have plenty of material to work off of to make a 10-12 minute news piece. I'm going to look into different people I can get into contact with for interviews and places I can go (already looking into Carnegie Mellon's physics department, even though I doubt anyone will return my calls once I start making them, and the Carnegie Science Center).

If anyone has any helpful suggestions or can point me toward some research or anything at all, any and all help will be useful. :-)

Now I just have to do my 2-3 minute video proposal, which I had no idea what I was going to do until my helpful roommate Cobs suggested doing some simple animations in After Effects (which she has agreed to help with if I need) of interviews with Pluto and other planets. Now I just have until Friday morning to do this (on top of actual After Effects homework I have for my Special Visual Effects class, oy).

SO MUCH TO DO and it's only the second week of classes!

Now I think I am going to go put off Scriptwriting homework and watch Stargate Atlantis. :-D Rodney <3

senior project
I need an idea for my Senior Project.

And since I've elected to do an EFP piece, I have been informed that this means I must do a 10-12 minute 'investigative journalism' piece - which, you know, I was pretty much anticipating. On what, I don't know yet. :-( help?

Meanwhile, I have to shoot and edit a 'video proposal' by next week.

I fucking hate this class already.

at least I don't have to make a fucking short film. A fucking fucking fucking short film. I woke up this morning and immediately began seething with rage in anticipation of an argument with this instructor - because last quarter in this class you were required to make a short dramatic film, and seeing as how I have no intentions to be a filmmaker, a short dramatic film does me little good on my demo reel when I already have one. I need more news stuff if I want to work in news, so I'm at least glad I have that opportunity.

Now I just need a topic. D-:

...I am not a journalist, I want to film the journalists doing their journalism thing. Phooey.

IN UNRELATED I-AM-DISTRACTING-MYSELF NEWS: OMG SHUT UP, YOU GUYS!!!!! I want one!!! They should make a Pegasus Galaxy style one.

Fuck you too, Comcast.
My MSNBC has gone missing and has been replaced for some reason by the Golf Channel. I didn't figure this out until after I had spent 5 minutes watching a commercial for some New and Improved Super Scientific Putter and wondering why in hell this was running on Countdown.

I don't know where MSNBC went.

And unfortunately, the only other channel that I know is missing from my cable lineup is the TV Guide Channel.

WTF, Comcast?

EDIT: I am looking at the Comcast channel line up for the area and yes, MSNBC has indeed been removed from the basic cable lineup and is now inexplicably a premium/digital only channel - which my school USED to give us, but then moved us to a new and more expensive dorm and then took away from us (along with carpeting and walls that did not let through every sound from the other side). But hey, we still get CNBC, Style and Christian Associates. ::unenthusiastic thumbs up::

Oh shit, what do I do now for the election? Oh god.

Today I bought an awesome skirt and 3 books at Goodwill for $6. ::fist pump!::

...but I didn't go to the mall as planned.

Also, I am ridiculously giddy about my new Goo Gone. I will get to unstickify lots of things!!!

Missed the first 20 minutes class due to having to stand in line for a hold on my financial aid that only took me about 20 seconds to take care of. Blah. Am going to the mall TOMORROW to look for the books I need for this class for cheap. Hooray!

I am going to give myself on concussion on this bed. I might go buy some of those foam water noodles and cut them up to line the bars under this bed so I quit hurting myself.

I think my disk drive on my computer may have crapped out - I just put my Phil Collins CD into it to upload and it just made lots of sounds at me :-(

Also, someone my roommate knows knows someone who just tested positive for TB. So the girl my roommate knows is getting tested for TB, and the results won't be in until the end of the week. And my roommate might have TB, but won't know if there's a chance until this girl's results come back. Meanwhile, she is going to go ahead and hop on a plane and come back here. I am not pleased about this.

Firefox just randomly died on me. :-( Blah

I'm tired.

Night 1 In New Apartment
Back in Pittsburgh in new room.

Cobs isn't coming back until Wednesday, apparently. When I spoke to her a week ago she said she was coming back on Wednesday, but failed to specify which Wednesday - I thought she meant this past Wednesday. I was wrong.

New room is weird. I don't feel like I live here, and being alone the first few nights is weird.

We were warned about neighbors being loud before we officially moved in, and it is true - kid next door seems to like playing bass-heavy techno music at all hours (such as right now, at 1:30 AM). I went over with Margaret to ask him to turn it down, and he did, but I could still hear it since my bed is right against his wall. But he wasn't an ass too me, which I was also warned about - I told him I'd just moved in and didn't want trouble. But he's still playing it, and it's still kindof loud - not as loud as earlier, though. I also think he might be having some sex and using the music to cover it up, which is fine by me as I'd rather hear droning bass than sex noises.

Had some issues with my cable - when we first came in here and started moving in, we thought we were missing our coaxial cables and modem. Then they turned out to be under the coffee table in the main room (which I really think was the modem and stuff for THE MAIN ROOM, but we stole it). Today I brought it in and discovered that I was one cable splitter and one coaxial cable short. I have my own splitter, randomly, from home. So I went and got (ex-RA) RLC Greg to dig up a new cable for me. When it came to my room, the kid with it explained that the only one they could find was ridiculously long, and covered in sticky stuff. He then put the cable into my bathtub so that I could attempt to clean it. This did not work. I have decided that whoever had this cable before hand must have duct-taped it to the floor and that's the stickiness - because I ended up having to tape it to the floor to prevent injuries. But now I have television and internet - when Cobs returns she will have to hook up the wireless as I don't know how to do all the passwords and shit.

We don't have room in this kitchen for all of our stuff, so the main room is crazy cluttered right now. Mostly with Maragaret's stuff, but also a lot of kitchen stuff. She sorted through a lot of her kitchen stuff today and is taking a lot (and sheets and towels) to Goodwill this week, so that will free up some room. but we don't have enough cupboards in the kitchen at all, even for food. I think we might need to collectively invest in a shelving system.

Cobs and I also have a ton of empty boxes we've been saving for moving out time (in December for me), and now since this room is so much smaller, these boxes have nowhere to live. When Cobs returns we will work on this.

I kindof wish I had picked the top bunk instead of the bottom - I went up there and checked it out and hung out a little bit and it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. I would have been fine and not hitting my head every 5 seconds on bars. But I use my computer while sitting on my bed and I was afraid of a wireing misshap resulting in my computer falling very far to the concrete floor. Bah bah bah.

So I made a fort.

Tomorrow I have American Lit in the afternoon at 1, and then I am thinking of running to the mall and selling these books and stuff I brought back from home to sell. And looking stuff to make my fort more awesome. Weeee.

Oh, caught most of an episode of Secret Diary of a Call Girl. And while being disturbed due to not being psychologically prepared to see Rose Tyler doing S&M, I enjoyed the show, and Billie is really good in it. I hope to watch it more, but it will probably weird out Roommate.

So unfunny, in fact, that instead of watching his special on Comedy Central, I am watching The Wizards of Waverly Place on Disney - and the Disney Channel makes me want to punch every 6-14 year old girl in both this country and several others (as well as the older girls who beyond all logic still watch the Disney Channel a lot). Computer issue
okay, I have heard conflicting reports about this so I am going to ask.

Which is worse for my laptop: shutting it off every day or putting it into hibernate every day?

I have heard both stories - that one is better to do than the other. I put it in hibernate pretty much constantly and rarely turn it off properly - which yes, I know isn't good for it on it's own. But what should I do - on/off/on/off or just hibernate it?

I just had the second not-wanting-to-boot-up scare I've had this year - booting up from hibernate it stopped. Luckily I got it to boot up when I shut it off improperly. I am going to turn it off tonight and give it a proper rest. Last time it didn't want to boot up the hard drive had to be replaced. I do not want this.

I also thought I might be hearing *sounds* in my computer, but I am so hypersensitive to the sounds my computer makes anyway that I have my TV on ridiculously loud to drown it out and not make me paranoid as is. Ugh.

OTHER NEWS EDIT: Dudes, I *cannot* get through Andy Summers' autobiography, which is annoying since I have been dying to get my hands on it for months. But, being a musician, he just talks too musiciany using musician terms that I, as a non-musician, cannot follow. So 85% of what I read is completely over my head. This is sad for me.

Also, the narrative is just kindof meh. It took me 5 days to get through 30 pages - this is bad seeing as how I expected to get through that whole book in 2 or 3 days.

BAH.
