Two little clean-up programs that you might want to have on your computer. Here's what she said about them:

"1) I truly believe that everyone should have the CCleaner. This used to be called the "Crap Cleaner." It's the most fantastic tool ever. It takes care of all, ALL your temporary internet files, even the ones hidden in your content.IE5 folders. It deletes a lot of spyware and malware, and will delete your cookies and clean you up as nice as a whistle if you choose (you can specify what to remove from each application, so you can delete IE cookies but save your Firefox ones, for example). It even has a REGISTRY CLEANUP TOOL. Every time you download, install, uninstall, update, etc. your applications, there is the potential for unused fragments to remain in your registry. Download this. Use it. It's like sweeping your floor: if you never did it, your floor would be so dirty you wouldn't be able to walk on it. Same goes for your computer.

2) Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Scanner. Also free. Also amazing. Run this once a week or so to make sure you're not broadcasting anything out to the nasty malware vendors."

I've tried them out and they're really great! Cleaned up lots of stuff on my comp.

Author's notes: My entry for the KHR mini-bang challenge. This fic is my attempt to revision the ring-wave-box weapon technology in a more biologically realistic manner. The original conception was far more ambitious and involved non-linear storytelling, events prior to the fic and events in the alternate timelines that take place during & after the fic. But I ran out of time, energy and brainpower, not to mention my original premise was flawed to begin with, thus I humbly leave you with this stripped down offering. Take home message: Start modest then think about expanding your ambitions.

Ever since a Subway outlet opened a few minutes walk away from my lab, I've been eating Subway sandwiches like... almost every day, week after week. Yesterday, I won a six-inch Subway sandwich in their 'peel and win' lucky draw campaign. Woot! More sandwiches!

I have seen KHR chapter 206 and ho hum, I'm not interested in fanwanking time travel in the Reborn world or who knew what knew when (other than I'm sure the TYL!crew all knew this was going to happen to varying degrees). All I have to say is, the little pout would look ridiculous, period, on any other character but on Hibari it looks ridiculously CUTE.

So, Project Runway is about the only reality TV show I'm invested in and after watching episode 6 of season 5, ( I have a confession to make... )

So I was reading NALIS' blog this morning. She had the preview for her 3rd Natsucomi release up. Regarding Motel, she said it's all pr0n and the epitome of no plot, no climax, no meaning (that's the translation for yamanashi ochinashi iminashi, right? ahahaha orz;;;;) And then she said, sometimes it's okay to have that, right!! (emphasis mine).

AHAHAHAhahahaHAhahaHAHAHA! SOMETIMES? TRY MOST OF THE TIME! Still, I don't know how she cranks out 3 doujinshi in the span of 1 week. And always right before the printing deadline too. I'd like to be a procrastinator like her who can produce results so reliably in a time crunch. *will train harder +___+* And... her Yamamoto and Gokudera are both looking older. What happened to dumb!cute!Gokudera?

Ah yes, mini-bang participants on my flist, the deadline has been pushed all the way back to August 31st because a number of people have contacted me privately about problems with the deadline so I'm shamelessly abusing my organizer privilege. Date: 2008-08-01 20:41 Subject: I'm alive... if alive is defined by 'still breathing' Security: Public Mood: exhausted

I'm so happy it's Friday, only because it means tomorrow is Saturday and I don't have to go to school but I'll have to go in on Sunday. For the first time this week, I didn't have to go in at 6.50 am. Went in at 7.50 am instead cos' I gave my lab presentation yesterday (It went okay. I'm not my boss' favorite graduate student by a long shot) and therefore could relax a bit. But next week, the week after next, ad infinitum till the end of the year and probably beyond, I'll be in at 6.50 am and working almost non-stop on my feet (except when I break for a quick lunch) for 10 hours everyday.

I'm sure some of the people on my flist will tell me I'm wimpy, to which... I will sadly agree. When I come home everyday, I just want to sit and NOT DO ANYTHING. Don't want to talk, don't want to write, don't even want to read doujinshi. I don't know how people have the energy to go out and do stuff after work! Hermit-dom is looking more and more attractive everyday! I have... phone calls unanswered, e-mails unanswered (will get to them tomorrow!)... my mom made my dad send me an email asking if I was angry about something cos' I didn't call her for a few days. No, not angry, just... really, really tired. It's gotten to the point that my labmate told me that I've lost my sense of humor. (Although, I'm pretty sure I lost that after the Japan trip in June. Vacations. They never leave me the same person I was before.) Am really hoping I'll adjust to my schedule soon cos' my tension headache sets in around 2 pm every day and by the time 10 pm rolls around, I just want to pass out on my bed. 5 am wake-up calls are just brutal. <-- wimp, remember? Also, scratchiness in my throat, will you please leave me already?

(Admittedly, I could go in later and go home correspondingly later but a - it's nice and quiet in the early morning and I don't have to fight for equipment time with other people & b - I can catch the express train home. Anything that cuts down on my traveling time is good! Plus, after 5.30 pm, the train stops by my station ONCE EVERY HOUR. So if I miss a train, I have to wait another hour. Not peachy at all, I tell you. Early to school, it is.)

So, take home message of this whiny post = I will definitely not be around more than I will be around.

And... I thought there might be a mention of Kajah or Sephaird at least on the wordle generator thingy but... they don't even show up...(damn you, first page only trawling *shakes fist*!) Makes me wanna go back and do something about my poor abandoned Sephaird x Kajah fics. The nostalgia, it hurts! But. ( was there any doubt which word(s) showed up the most? )

So, this post was prompted by discussion with kurot and by rukawagf's post about Middle Range.

kurot and I both agree that 8059 circles are pretty vanilla in their stories and a lot of the stories out there (especially for the doujinshi I got from the GakuSai event) revolve around 1st times and confessions of love and the pining is more or less equally split between Yamamoto and Gokudera. If you ask me, I think there's too much teenage angst going around xDDDD However, there are a few circles which stand out from the rest, IMHO, and I'd like to talk about them in the next few posts xD In alphabetical order.

Found out this weekend that my labmate's father passed away the day before he was supposed to fly home for a visit. My labmate was extremely close to his father so yeah... words cannot express how sad I feel for him.

I've been away from home for seven years already and each time I come back to the US from a visit home... the feeling that I'm squandering away time that I could be spending with my family, especially my mom, hits me harder and harder. I'm always so worried that something's going to happen to my mom - her health isn't exactly the best and my family puts so much stress on her - and I won't be there. If I could go 4 years back in the past, I'd definitely make a different choice. Between living at home with my mom and pursuing a PhD that I'm not even interested in? No fucking contest.
