Janet Jackson Celebrating Her 42nd Birthday I'm sorry... did I just say Janet Jackson is 42? Shocked on so many levels. Here she is with Jermaine Dupri at Katsuya restaurant. Are 40s the new 30s or 20s? I just can't keep up these days. :) Source |

Penelope Cruz In Cannes The beautiful and always put together Penelope Cruz attended day 4 of The 2008 Cannes Film Festival to help promote 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona'. A painter enters a relationship with two American tourists. Conflict begins with the painter's jealous ex-girlfriend. Also in the film are Javier Bardem (can't go wrong with him) and Scarlett Johansson. Scarlett has been very busy lately hasn't she? New music, an engagement and several movies under wraps. Perhaps that is why we haven't seem her around. PS Woody Allen directed and wrote this piece. ( +++3 more )Source |

Reese & Jake’s Lovers Lunch Cute couple Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal grab lunch together and leave in the same GMC Yukon Hybrid SUV in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon. Earlier this month, MTV News spoke to Reese while she was filming November’s Four Christmases, her latest Christmas flick with Vince Vaughn. “The movie is all about family,” Reese said. “It’s about the connection with your mother and your father, and those dynamics, so I really think people are going to relate to it. [But also,] it’s about divorce. It’s about how people have step-families and [need to] negotiate going to your mom’s and your dad’s. I really think people haven’t seen many movies like that.” ( 10+ pictures inside of Gyllenspoon’s lovers lunch… )Source |

Books #3 & 4 Book #3 Title: Little Beauties Author: Kim Addonizio Rating: 5/10 Summary: What do a middle aged OCD woman whose husband has just left her, a pregnant teenager, and the baby growing inside her have in common? They all need one another. This shows how lives intertwine every day, even in the most unusual circumstances. My Thoughts: I picked this out of a mail order book club with some free points. It was interesting and disturbing at the same time, reading about what an acutal OCD person goes through every day. The book was written in 3 perspectives, a different one for each main character, which I found hard to follow and choppy to read. I also didn't feel like I could really get to know any of the characters, that they were superficial and unimportant. THe ending left me with questions, which can be a good thing, depending on how you look at it. It wasn't the book I wanted it to be. Book #4 Title: The Mermaid Chair Author: Sue Monk Kidd Rating: 8/10 Summary: Jessie is summoned to the Island where she grew up after her mother has chopped off her finger. In an effort to find out why her mother is mutilating herself, Jessie goes on a path of self discovery, involving an affair, as well as finding ou the secret her mother and her friends have kept from her for over 20 years. My Thoughts: I don't know what I was expecting out of this book, but it exceeded them. I found it a little hard to get into at first, but a quick read none the less. My mom had told me 'it was alright', so I wasn't expecting much. I felt that the characters were real and people I could see walking down the street, but I found Kidd's writing style not to my taste. She seemed to highlight details of things that weren't really important to telling the story, when I would have liked more detail with actual characters. HUGE MAC CLEAROUT! more stuff added! *mods, my last sale was last week!* For those who don't recognize the username, I used to be "pointe_dreams" and I was a very active member of this community back in the day. I am selling my entire MAC collection. This isn't everything, but it's a huge chunk of it! I no longer support the company (for personal reasons, but if you ask, I'll tell you), so my makeup is your gain! =) Add $2.00 for shipping (this includes delivery confirmation!) I only accept non-CC paypal...e-checks are fine! I will ship to the United States and Canada ONLY. No international shipping. I have all positive feedback on MUA and eBay under the name pointe_dreams. :) Feel free to haggle, but please be reasonable because I don't think my prices are unfair! I just want this stuff GONE! Preference is given to buyers of multiple items, but I'm flexible! Pictures of EVERYTHING are included under the cut! More items added and prices lowered! ( MSFs including Petticoat, blushes, eyeshadows, LE/discontinued lip products, brushes, and more! )If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! =) ~Mary |

Tonya Harding Tells Harrowing Story in New BookThey also fill a new book, "The Tonya Tapes," in which she speaks frankly, if a bit confusingly, about the Tonya and Nancy scandal. And about being abused during childhood, contemplating suicide, having a gun placed to her head and getting raped. She says she paid a price for not fitting the mold of American figure skaters. yes, this is the woman who's hubby attacked another skater right before the 1994 winter games (totally innocent, y'all!). and the chick who got to go a second run during the winter games because "her shoe lace was to short". also, tonya harding of honeymoon porn "fame" . sauce |

It didn't stop with Speed Racer... Aslan also underperforms Theatre owners and most of the so-called box office “experts” were looking for an $80M+ opening weekend, and I called for $74M-$77M, so Prince Caspian is a distinct disappointment. Industry tracking pointed toward a stronger opening, and execs from competing studios have theories about why the new Narnia has opened soft. Despite generally positive reviews (69% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes), many critics mentioned that the movie is darker than the first with some extended battle sequences, which could be a contributing factor. Also, one source tells me that the faith-based marketing effort was less effective this time around.

The Apprentice. Weirdly -- and about 5 years after the rest of the world -- I am really obsessed with The Apprentice (the UK version, because Suralan scares me slightly less than Donald Trump -- although I'm not above binging on the US version once I run out of UK episodes to watch). It's feel-good TV! It makes me feel good about: (a) my "career" (ie. not being in business); (b) my life choices; (c) my morality (?!). I am a morally bankrupt, unemployed loser -- and yet I'm still not as bad as the contestants on TA! It's awesome! You can watch the current season on the yube. For the record, I think my favourite is "man of the people" Raef. The spoken word is his tool, you know. P.S. Apparently I'm eighteen years old all over again, because I am rocking The Strokes' Is This It and Poe's Haunted. Excellent albums, both! Port Red compairison and Neo Sci-Fi swatches I ended up running to MAC this morning, picked up Pleasure Principle dazzleglass lol! I'm addicted to the damn things. Anyhoo, they had a lot of the Future Earth/Neo Sci-Fi stuff so I got to play... the packaging was an odd orange, not attractive but not as bad as it could be (ie. a neon yellow or anything that bad lol) but pretty funky of an orange. Anyhoo, swatches of the stuff behind the cut! Really sloppy order, but I have to run! I'm at my friends and my mom just called and said our dog is finally having her puppies!! Yay! Puppies :-D ( I hate the cut texts ) |

concealers... i've been using Clinique Line-Smoothing Concealer for my undereye circles and i'm pretty happy w/ it, however the lightest shade is not pale and beige enough to cover up anything else on my skin. i've been using Lancome Effacernes for that purpose but my tube is finished. which brings up my questions:
which MAC concealer i should use if i want flawless and even colored skin? i want to cover up the slight redness at times or a zit or two during TOTM etc., not ance or acne scars.
i'm pretty pale w/ neutral to warm undertones (basicly i'm allover the place w/ my coloring: SFF NC15, Studio Fix NW20, Mineralize Satinfinish NC20, MSF Natural Light and Light Medium), if i were to buy NC15 concealer, can i still use it on my undereye circles or would that part require NW15?
thank you. |

Comet Blue I took a look at the NN stuff yesterday but was not tempted at all! I was more interested in Comet Blue but of course it had to be sold out. Anyway, what would I even pair Comet Blue with? I imagine it's too blue to wear on the lips alone and since I have highly pigmented lips they might turn to a purplish hue?
On another note, who here is enjoying the HOT weather in California? It has been in the 90's these past 2 days in San Francisco! |

Sibling rivalry: Hollywood's oldest feud Screen legends Olivia de Havilland and Joan Fontaine have always had one problem: each other. Now in their nineties, the antagonism goes on. Rupert Cornwell reports Thursday, 15 May 2008 Whatever happened to Olivia and Joan? Olivia de Havilland and Joan Fontaine that is, among the brightest jewels of 1940s Hollywood, Oscar-winners both but also sisters locked into an ancient sibling rivalry that, according to accounts from the tinsel city, is alive and well even though both are now in their 90s, grandes dames from a vanished era. Eight decades or more, you would have thought, is time enough to let bygones be bygones. But in this sad, remarkable but all too human instance, the answer appears to be, no. A couple of weeks ago, the Academy of Motion Pictures which organises the Oscars held a bash honouring the late actress Bette Davis on the 100th anniversary of her birth. In so doing, they unwittingly laid bare this celebrity feud for the ages. Source |
