What do you think of this role-playing Humans vs. Zombies game?

There is a new live action role-playing game called Humans vs.Zombies that can take weeks to play out. The article below has interesting commentary on what it means to wage a faux war as a mirror to the values in our society vs.imagination games and play. As more and more zombie hunters engage in Zombie Walk there could be a new dynamic. I personally am not into military planning and attacking guys who think they are commandos. Where is the balance?
Here is the story......it's a fun read.

Big gorey, gushy, puss filled zombie love for all those who showed their zombie pride in Fremont yesterday.
We are in the Seattle times today!

There is a great place to post pictures if you have them and peruse the cool ones that are already there. Flickr.com has a Zombies in the Pacific Northwest Group I administer: http://www.flickr.com/groups/seattlezom biewalk/pool/
Share your pics with the horde!
When you post be sure to tag the photos FremontZombieWalk2007 so everyone knows which walk the pictures pertain to.
BTW There is no Official Walk at U-Village this year.......rumor got spread because of a typo on my part....sorry......
There is however, a November Zombie Pub Crawl organized by a different crew in November.......

Walk with your un-dead brethren through the streets of Seattle in the light of day. With all your gore and glory, let’s mob Fremont! Be one of us because you are a Horror movie fan, because you love cosplay, or just for the hell of it! How often do you get to participate in something this weird and free? All that is required is that you show up in costume, respect traffic laws and practice common sense. Bring your friends! Nothing says you love someone quite like caking yourself in make-up, limping down the street together and eating them by a big bronze of Lenin!
OCT 21st- Fremont
Start: 2:45pm sharp
Meet: @ THE TROLL under the Aurora Bridge.
North 36th Street at Troll Avenue North
Seattle, Washington 98103
Milling in Fremont from 3:00pm-4:30PM
Stopping by various establishments.....arriving at Hale's Ales by about 5:00pm for food and drink. Under 21 ok.
* As mentioned previously - zombies are only really effective when traveling together in large groups. Bring your friends, foes, family and other loved ones.
*Check other sections of this LJ for makeup tips etc....
*TRY TAKING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE EVENT!
Potentially useful things to keep in mind:
1. Participate at your own risk.
2. Do not pretend to “attack” people not part of Zombie Walk who do not obviously want to be involved.
3. Only swarm parked cars because, if we cause traffic problems, the Police will interfere.
4. There are no permits for this event. Be safe and look out for the safety of others!

HA! Zombies give a PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT on komo 4!
Oct. 2nd, 2007 | 11:50 am
location: Seattle
mood:
hopeful
Hi there my Un-dead Brethren,
It’s getting close to this year’s Zombie Walk and even closer to the date on which Zombies will take the opportunity to make a Public Service Announcement with Northwest Afternoon (KOMO 4) in costume at the station to be aired as a commercial. I have received a surprising amount of interest about this, but I’m afraid we still might be a few people short of our quota. Zombie Walk is required a minimum 15 people for Northwest Afternoon’s live studio audience in exchange for advertising time.
Here is who has expressed interest so far:
WendyZombie
MichelleZombie
AmberZombie + Daughter
CleoZombie
JulianZombie
RonnieEarlZombie
JPZombie
JoshZombie
TraciZombie
PatrickZombie
HeatherZombie
FuyuZombie

As you can see, we are doing pretty well! Please check to see if your name is there if it should be and email me if you need to cancel.
I don’t have real names or contact info for a few of you…...
If you haven’t signed up and think you might be able to join us for the show on Oct 11th PLEASE RSVP!
If any of you have thoughts on this please email me: cleozombie@gmail.com
Date of Show: Thursday October 11th
Number of people: 15 (Minimum, the more the merrier!)
Arrive: 9:00am
Leave: 10:50am
Show Topic: What’s for Dinner
Zombies can take public transportation…
Seattle has a fairly adequate bus system and as driver's licenses expire along with the license holder, most zombies can't drive legally. And even if they could, they are notoriously slow in the reflex department. Even among the living, there are many who choose not to drive and so it might be a good future practice to encourage bus ridership in addition to providing driving and parking instructions. To help prevent more people from becoming zombies, check out the bus route information Metro bus information can be found here: http://transit.metrokc.gov
What to expect when you arrive:
8:45 am: Cleo Zombie will be at the coffee house closest to the station. Visit with her if you don’t want to go in alone….
9:00am: PSA Spokespeople (up to 8 people, who will be filmed on the PSA) sign in and go up to our studio.
9:05am: The remainder of your 15 person group will be checked in. Note: everyone does not need to be in costume. Please advise this part of your group that they will be checked in AFTER the costumed PSA spokespeople are checked in.
9:10am: PSA’s are shot in our studio.
9:20am: The rest of the audience (and the rest of your 15 person group) is brought up.
9:20-10:00am: Learn how to be great audience....Fun Contests (prizes anyone?)....and meet our fabulous hosts!
10:00am -10:50am: You and your group are a part of our lively studio audience.
**Your PSA will air later in the day when our show airs from 3-4pm. Your PSA will air once between 3:35 and 3:55pm.

Sept 15th Zombie Film Festival in review

Thanks to all of you zombie lovers who came out to brave the Zombie Walk from Husky Stadium on Saturday. It was by far the toughest crowd to mingle into as a Zombie that I have ever experienced. Kudos to those of you who don’t give a fuck what others think of you and brave enough to stay in character! Thank you so much for dealing with the parking hassle and the crowds to join us.
About twenty brave undead brethren made the scene and more were at the Museum of History and Industry when we returned from our jock feast. There we were in our blood and rotting flesh amidst the massive tailgate party in Husky Stadium. One man asked me if I felt uncomfortable being so outnumbered. I told him: "Yea....but that’s just it about zombies ....every time we bite one of you, you join our team!" I am not a sports fan and did not expect to see that many people and tent canopies out there! Holy Shit! It was a sea of preppy purple jerseys, folding chairs, and tailgate parties. People did not know what to make of us. They thought we were Ohio State fans or protesting something. It was very challenging to remain in character. Ohhh the characters we were though! There were some "stumbling into camp" zombies, school girl zombies, afro zombies, zombie bums, Starbucks barista zombies, a zombies who brought a severed leg to snack on and a brave zombie hunter girl with a foam bat for protection. Despite the huffy Husky crowd we did our best. I actually had a mother come chew me out for scaring a little kid. I told her that "some kid's like to be scared" and I apologized for making that particular little boy cry. I was proud of my Zombie self for acquiring 1 exquisite Asian girl scream( my favorite kind), winning a stare down contest with a thick necked blonde-haired Frat boy, and sneaking up on people which resulted in four people throwing their beer cups up in the air. Arguuuuuhhhhh! We decided to clear out when I witnessed a particularly exuberant zombie have an old woman throw a beer can at his head for getting in her space.......Ouch! No fights with drunken frat boys for me or my kin, thank you.
Then we went to the Auditorium at MOHAI via the Montlake Bridge. Nice walk, some car shaking and squabbling over the severed leg…… At the Auditorium we took some classic pictures. I'd covered my car with gut-like material in advance to set the scene and laid out a mannequin I artfully enhanced for zombie flesh eating enjoyment. There were some great pictures of that! We also staged a classic "Night of the Living Dead" type photo shoot out in a field of long dead grass outside the Museum.
You can see pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/seattlezom biewalk/
Feel free to post more pictures and comment with your experiences at any of the Seattle Zombie sites.
The films shown were varied and enjoyable, although I was unable to stay for all of them. What did y’all think of the films?
I'll post soon about the next upcomming ZOMBIE WALK in mid October.

Zombies VS Football Fans...
Sep. 14th, 2007 | 05:05 pm
So............ for Zombie Walk tomorrow we have a timing problem with the football game that lets out just as our zombie brethren begin ammassing in the Husky Stadium parking lot at 3:30 pm........
To make it all less of a hassle....
I suggest public transaportation or bicyles since traffic gets snarly that time of day after a game.
There is ample free parking by MOHAI (the Zombie Film Festival Venue). You may feel better if you park your cars there and take a nice stroll along the canal back over the Montlake bridge to meet the rest of the zombies at the climbing wall in the Stadium parking lot. There we can munch on the sports fans trying to get back into their vehicles.
We may not start the Walking part back to MOHAI until traffic chills out.....like at 4:20

Zombie Costume/Makeup!

OK, lots of people have been asking about makeup & costumes....
I've compiled a directory of stuff to get you re-animated without spending a fortune.
Just make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to gorify and clean up the mess!
For makeup this site rocks and it's cheap. I just discovered it! Order now and get some practice before you Zombiewalk! http://www.dearbloodymary.com/makeup_pr oducts.html
Good make-up tips once you get by the ads for their stuff....

AWESOME! They made a burnt hand with skin showing out of asparagus and
telephone parts; the compound fracture is SICK; not all the links work though

Near the bottom of the page is the all important "how to make fake

The tip at the bottom of the page is good for peeling zombie flesh made from kitchen items:

And here is my short list of suggestions for Seattle folks:
1. Making a trip to Display & Costume in Northgate will be worth your while. Get some whitening face paint, black grease paint, bruise colored eyeshadows and black eyeliner to start with.
2. Oatmeal and liquid latex works wonders.
3. Food coloring and corn syrup makes convincing blood, but sticky. However, it is also tasty.
4. It looks great to tease out you hair if it is long. Sprinkle some leaves in it!
5. Value Village - but I'm sure it's hardly necessary to mention that.
Zombie Costume for Men-
What you need: Old wool blazer (mens), Scissors, Black turtleneck, Black Pants, Hair spray/Coloured hair spray, Face paint (white, grey and black)
What you do:
1. Go to a local thrift store and find an old men's wool blazer.
2. Hack holes in the sweater (carefully) with a pair of scissors, then machine wash the sweater (the washing will increase the size and wear of the holes).
3. Wear and old black turtleneck under the hacked up sweater, along with and old pair of pants (you can also hack up the pants and turtleneck if you wish)
4. Use gel or hair spray to tangle up their hair, or add colored sprays.
5. Start painting the face using white for a base coat and adding grays and blacks to it to get a mottled effect. Apply dark colors around or under the eyes.
6. Options Using fake costume skin you can add layers of skin hanging off face and neck. Fake blood can also add creepy touches to a zombie costume.
For Gals.....remember you can be a dead version of a receptionist, cheerleader, nurse jogger etc.
check out: http://www.zombiepinups.com just for fun!
Be creative with your costume, but remember that you will be the most convincing looking if you look like an un-dead version of who you normally are.
How's that for brain food!

Zombie Gig @ Chop Suey April 14th
Apr. 9th, 2007 | 12:49 pm
Another Zombie Gig is approaching and I’m inviting you to join the horde.
Basically, Tennessee Loveless (yes, that’s his real name) asked me to organize Zombies to attack his band at the TrannyShack show @ Chop Suey this coming Sat.- April 14th 2007.
Trannyshack has been named America's most extreme drag show. It has been in two independent films and has been touring internationally for quite some time now. The night will be PACKED, and there will be video of it that Tennessee will send out to anyone that participates.
If you are interested in looking over the run down of the entire performance, please message me. The actual Zombie part is really easy and mostly depends on costume and enthusiasm. We Zombies will be feasting to the song "skin receiver". Zombies will need to raise their fist in the air to the monster sounding "rah rah rah" in the song and to crawl up on stage to devour the party.. and then at the end to do another rah rah rah and then walk slowly and zombie like towards the audience.
Please get creative with your costume and bring foodstuffs that could look like gory body parts to use as props.
Some suggestions:
-Corn syrup, red food coloring, and a bit o Hershey’s syrup mixed together in a spray bottle makes great projectile blood
-red licorice ropes look like arteries
-cherry and strawberry Fruit Roll-ups are edible scabs
-slightly dried red jell-0 looks like meat
The only requirements are:
#1 You must be 21 yrs, or over
#2 dressed and ready to mill by 11:00
#3 You must dress and act as none other than a fabulous Zombie
#4 You must feel comfortable in a gay scene & love to devour a drag queen band on stage
#5 Please reply to cleozombie@gmail.com if you plan on participating with your contact information
It would be AWESOME and make for a much more entertaining performance if Zombies could show up for REHEARSAL at 2:00pm Sat afternoon @ Cop Suey. (You don't need to be in costume)

Zombie X-mas

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE THE LIVING DEAD
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a louse;
The traps were all set by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would step there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While nightmares of body parts danced in their heads;
And mamma with her hatchet, and I in with my axe,
Had just settled down for a little night cap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what made the splatter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and ripped through the sash.
The moon on the breast of the blood-stained snow
Gave a hideous glow to objects below,
When, what to my wandering eye should appear:
the watchman was dead with a knife in his ear,
There, on the lawn, knelt a man rather thick,
the blood on his coat told me he was St. Nick.
More rapid than vultures he sprang to his feet,
This zombified Santa was hungry for meat.
"Where are the children, I want them now!
Bring them down to me you ugly fat cow.
On time and impatient I’ve come to your home,
I hunger for brains… and I’m not alone.
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
a legion of demons flew down from the sky,
and up to the house-top this evil took roost,
With red beady eyes and long pointy tooth.
And then, in a heart beat, I heard on the roof
The digging and pawing of each demon hoof.
As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came down with a growl.
He was dressed all the hair of the dead he had skinned
And his clothes were blood stained from both women and men.
With a bundle of cutlery hung on his back,
he grabbed for a knife and began his attack.
His eyes – they stared through me! His smile, freaking scary!
His nose was all wrinkled like an old, rotten cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow.
He slashed at my leg and I fell to the floor;
The stump of my limb he held tight in his teeth,
And the blood seeped from it to white tile beneath.
He had a cruel face and some blood in his beard.
His expression was empty. For my life I now feared!
He was ugly and evil, a sick little elf,
And I knew things must change, for my kids and myself;
with my leg now missing, my wife surely dead,
I pushed from the floor and kicked Nick in the head.
He spoke not a word, but went fell straight on his back
And all the traps sprung just thunderous snap.
Laying there – writhing - right where he fell
this bastard passed right through the doorway of Hell.
The demons then vanished. My children were safe!
I sat there, crying, beginning to faint.
But before I passed out, I screamed with all might,
"SCARY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-FRIGHT!"
Happy New Year!!!

The U Village Zombie Walk was very fun. Thank you very much to all the Zombies, "Victims" and photographers who walked, shuffled and screamed all through the U-Village with us. I was a bit alarmed at how many people actually turned out! All went pretty well considering y'all were a mob!
Please share with me here your antidotes and I'm sure everyone is excited to see pictures!

Zombie Walk
Walk with your un-dead brethren through the corridors of the Emerald City’s shopping center- University Village. With all your gore and glory, smile at the soccer Moms and dine on Seattle shoppers!
Be one of us because you are a Horror movie fan, because you love costume, or to make a statement. How often do you get to participate in something this weird?
All that is required is that you show up in costume, respect laws and practice common sense. Bring your friends. Nothing says you love someone quite like caking yourself in make-up, limping down the street together and eating them in the shopping mall!
People's participation in this event is completely voluntary and I cannot and will not accept any liability for the actions of participants.

4. Do not bring anything that looks like a weapon to the Village no matter how fake.

Zombie Walk is NOT a politically oriented event. Horror movie fans and Zombie freaks of all ages and perspectives come hither and help scare people and play with the concept of a macabre fantasy collective.

Zombie Walk is no longer a surprise to them and I was sure we would have to change our route.....
That's private property and corporate thinking for you......
The thing about zombies is that they never give up! I filled out their "We are not responsible" paperwork and pray Seattle Zombies have common sense.
I met with "Management" on Thurs. They are not thrilled that Zombies will be infesting their Village, and they hope it pours down rain on us.....but they did not say they would ask us to leave or give us trouble.
The head of U Village Security is a "Shaun of the Dead" fan. (Good for us, because we make his job a pain in the arse on Sat.)
The U-Village Manager, "Suzie" has a 8 year old who is afraid of Mickey Mouse. Errr..............
I explained what a Zombie was and described Zombie Walk as theatrical as opposed to violent.
She's definitely not a fan of "scary" but she and her co-workers were good sports nonetheless!
We're an R rated show at a G rated venue.
If we can resist eating the children, don't mess with people who don't want to play, leave no messes & thank the security people for helping out we should be in the clear.
I will be attaching maps soon.....
Let's WALK!!!

* Advice on how to stay more incognito in the future would be greatly appreciated.......

Submit Art for Cadaver Cadabra
Aug. 18th, 2006 | 11:38 am
***Macabre Art Show***
Oct. 31st
Not all art is “pretty” you know...
Do you have or make 2D artwork that is- creepy, eerie, spooky, gothic, campy, or otherwise dark fantasy oriented, gathering cobwebs in the corner somewhere? Could it be better appreciated by a crowd of people who value warped perspectives and a macabre outlook?
Submit it for display in the R.I.P.lounge or at the Merchandise Booth as part of the Cadaver Cadabra Halloween party @ Studio Seven
110 South Horton St. Sodo Seattle, WA. 98134
Doors: 6:30- End Time: 12:00pm
For more Party info: http://cleozombie.livejournal.com/7 658.html
I am looking for stuff that can be enjoyed in a nightclub setting by Horror genre fans in party mode. (Read as “I don’t want to be responsible for ‘priceless’ Art that gets accidentally damaged”.) We welcome PRINTS of fine art but no originals or sculpture. Glicee prints are quite affordable to make at http://www.thecolorgroup.com and Kinko’s works fine on a budget. If you would like to sell your art, I suggest aiming the price to sell affordably in the $10-$150 range. If you aren’t interested in selling, please mark your work NFS (not for sale). Any sales of artwork sold at the club will be split 60%- artist 40%- promoter.
We want:
· Prints mounted on something stiff to be nailed to the wall
· zerox copies of exquisite doodles
· copies of zines & Horror Short Stories with an attached chain + flashlight that can be nailed to the wall.
· matted illustrations
· masks
· big cardboard cut-outs with glow paint and glitter
· black-light art
· photographs matted and photographs thumb-tacked
· collages
· creative edible experiments
· printed digital art nicely mounted
* We don’t want stuff we have to exclude from the show because it borders on too pervy, explicit or violent to show at an All-Ages gig. Basically, please don’t submit any art you would feel uncomfortable showing with your 14 yr.old niece or nephew.
Each piece of artwork submitted must be delivered/mailed to Cleozombie with the following info:
· Title
· Medium
· Artist’s Name
· Address
· Phone #
· Selling price or NFS indication.
· Hanging instructions...(tape is not an option)
*please include postage if you want the art mailed back to you, or pick it up the night of the party.
DEADLINE Oct. 25th!

Shaun of the Dead Walk aftermath......
Jul. 31st, 2006 | 03:46 pm
The "Shaun of the Dead" Zombie Walk was very fun. Thank you to the 30 or so people who came out despite the heat with awesome makeup and scary scenes to play out. The makeup and acting of our horde is getting better and better. I personally loved the zombie woman with the Mob hit style cement shoes and the homeless zombie with the cardboard sign that said "Will work for brains". This walk was bloodier than usual, and with more screaming however, we do need to work on our SLOW zombie shuffle. We went shopping in the PCC this time. One of my favorite moments was when a checker announced that "there were brains in aisle 4"! Nevertheless we still left hungry and went to the lot where 800 people were waiting to watch the movie. It was open season.

How to be a convincing Zombie 101

Zombie Walk 2005
The School of the Un-Dead
How to be a convincing Zombie 101
1. Mastery of the blank gaze.
- Relax all the muscles of your face and de-focus your eyes. Anyone who comes into eye contact with you should see no recognition or expression in your face. Make sure that your eyes "track" as little as possible. For a test, make your “Zombie Face” and have a friend surprise you with a loud noise. You pass if your eyes don’t dart to the noise and your body doesn’t flinch. Practice in the mirror making the Zombie Face and then try to do it with your friends without cracking up!
2. The Zombie Drive
- A Zombie is essentially dead. In this state, you do not get itchy, adjust clothing, or speak coherently.
- The driving force of a Zombie’s essence is hunger. The only active parts of Zombie mental faculties involve the need to feed. Zombies do everything they do to procure food, specifically human flesh. They are drawn toward the living to eat them. I hear brains are a particularly tasty delicacy.
3. Costume
Depending on perspective, but largely accepted- zombieness occurs after death. So when you are thinking of your costume try thinking about what you might be wearing at the time of your death.
In western societies dead people are usually buried in their Sunday best. A trip to the Salvation Army or Value Village for an old suit jacket and trousers or a "churched-up" dress are classic. Perhaps you died in bed and re-animated in your pajammas. You would certainly be comfortable. Those are merely suggestions. There are more zombie permutations in the world than the ol' garden-variety Night of the Living Dead kind. Variations like, "spare change" Zombie, Santa zombie, Cher zombie, and Laura Bush zombie are endless and encouraged.
4. Make-up
My favorite costume shop is Display & Costume in Northgate. I trip there will be worth your while for makeup.
A. Get some whitening face paint or the stuff called "zombie Flesh" by Mehron.
B. black grease paint to darken your eyes and cheeks for that hollow & hungry look and eyeliner to start with. Cheap, Rite Aid variety eyeshadows and eyeliners can also get you pretty banged up looking.
C. Oatmeal and liquid latex works wonders.
D. Food coloring and corn syrup makes convincing blood, but sticky. However, it is also tasty. You may want to try chocolate syrup or caramel sauce smeared strategically in your clothes....trust me......looks dead.
E. Dont brush your hair! It looks great to tease out you hair if it is long. Sprinkle some leaves in it!
F. Don't forget to get yourself dirty! Tea and coffee stains on clothes age them well.
G. Get out there with yo bad self!
* While in public, avoid taking pictures while dressed as a Zombie. This would be a breech of character! Hand your camera off to a plain-clothed friend or “victim” to capture your most gory moments!
