2:35pm: Artwork added to Archive
The combination of seeing Suzan Lovett at SHareCon last Friday and re-reading Summer's End, by Alexandra, while on vacation this week has inspired me to archive a few more of Suzan's pieces:

- Summer's End, which was the front cover to the zine novel of the same name by Alexandra, published by Deathless Pros Press in 1995 (story is linked above; a thumbnail with link to full-sized image is now included in the story).

- Have Partner, Will Travel, which was the front cover to the zine anthology Continental B&D, published by Satyr d'Nite in 1994

- Nine-Tenths of the Law, which was the front cover to the zine anthology The Bisto Kids, published by Infinity Press in 2001
As a reminder, to make searching easier, all archived art has the word "Artwork" in parentheses after the title and has the category "Art." Of course you can also find it under the artist's name.

To see any ratings for these pieces, go to the Archive and do a search for the pieces selecting the "Full Search" option; the information will show in the search results.

2:31pm: Story and artwork added to Archive
I'm very pleased to have added a zine novel to the Archive:
Taemon's Cuckoos  click for pairing )
by Tessa Rae
written in 1988; published as a zine in 1991 by Tanglewebb Press
with cover art by Suzan Lovett
Tameon's Cuckoo is a sequel to Wine Dark Nexus by Anne Carr. Wine Dark Nexus was published in the zine In the Public Interest 2 (Sunshine Press, 1988). In that same zine, the publishers announced a "story contest" for a sequel to WDN--apparently, Anne had in fact "started a sequel, but due to other pressing commitments...would be unable to finish it..." She did, however, permit what she had written to be published in the zine and used as the start of, and to "tantalize and inspire," another author's sequel.

This beginning by Anne Carr forms the prologue to Taemon's Cuckoos and is included in the story.

Tessa Rae also wrote Taemon's Seed, a brief sequel to Taemon's Cuckoos, as a gift for HG; this too is included in the story (at the end).

Suzan's cover is included as a thumbnail at the start of the file - you can click on it to see the full-sized version. It has also been separately archived, and you can find it here:

5:28pm: Stories added to Archive
Thanks to everyone who offered support on the Texas Aries matter - I appreciate it and am glad to see what appears to be solidarity on this issue in the fandom - and particularly to [info]nellhowell for making me aware of the issue, for her advice, and for the quote I attributed to "a fan" in my previous announcement (I wasn't sure when I posted if she was okay with being mentioned or I'd have included this there).

On a happier note, I've archived four more stories by HG:
- No Strings, written in 1983 and later published in HG Collected 2, Doghouse Press, 2002   click for pairing )

- Its sequel, Anticlimax, written in September 1985 and later published in Uncharted Waters 12, Crevichon Press, 1995; the revised version archived here was published in HG Collected 2, Doghouse Press, 2002   click for pairing )

- Clap Hands, originally published in Down Under Express 6, Batho & Kerr Ink, 1995 click for pairing )

8:15pm: Announcement
Yesterday, I archived a story and two pieces of art by someone called Texas Aries, a name with which I was not then familiar. Since then, I have been made aware that this person is a notorious and documented plagiarist who has repeatedly appropriated other fans' work and claimed it as her own, often in a different fandom from the original. When confronted with her behavior, she has adopted sockpuppet identities to proclaim her innocence and/or accused or even stalked her accusers. She has done this as recently as this past May. Never has she accepted responsibility or culpability, or shown the slightest bit of repentance, for any of her actions, even when asked to do so.

I've discussed this and given it a lot of thought and have decided that although there's no evidence her Pros story is plagiarized, she is not, in light of her history, someone whose work I want to host on the Circuit Archive. To disregard what she's done in the past each time she enters a new fandom, as if it doesn't matter until she does it here, is not an acceptable approach to me, and certainly it offers her no incentive to change her ways. I do not want to appear neutral on this issue that I believe to be so fundamental in fandom (and any writing community); I certainly do not want her to be able to cite the fact that her stories are hosted by a legitimate archive as support for her claims of victimization.

And, to quote a fan, I do not want somebody like her housed in the Archive alongside all the writers of integrity who have made this fandom what it is over the past 30 years.

In short, I find her behavior abhorrent, and I don't want to be the instrument by which she enters Pros fandom. Therefore, I've removed Texas Aries and her work from the Archive completely (and I've emailed her to inform her of this).

If anyone has any questions about this or would like citations or further information, feel free to comment or email me.

9:35pm: Vids added to Archive
Four vids by PR Zed have been added to the archive (I have to admit I love all of these, though Forget Regret is a personal and sentimental favorite...):
- Love's Not a Competition, her newest vid, which premiered at this year's Escapade

- Believe, which premiered at the final ZebraCon, in 2007

- Cosy Prisons, which was first posted online for the Discovered in the Mistletoe challenge on [info]discoveredinalj in 2006 and had its con premiere at Escapade 2007

- Forget Regret, which premiered at Vividcon 2005
Clicking on a vid name will take to the download page for the vid, from which you can save the zipped vid file to your hard drive. The download pages also includes vidder notes and song lyrics.

You can access all archived vids from the main vid page. You can also find vids using the search function; for example, by searching by category (category "vid"), vidder name, or vid title (vid titles include the word "Vid" in parentheses).

5:45pm: Stories added to Archive
In honor of [info]hagsrus's birthday (grossly inadequate though this is :-), a much-loved novel by HG from the very early days of Pros fandom has been added to the Archive:

Rediscovered in a Graveyard  click for pairing )
by HG
written January-July, 1982, and later published as a zine novel, Doghouse Press, 1998
(This is a very large file. If you would prefer to read it in parts (4) for quicker loading, click here)

I've also archived a few related stories...
- Loose Change, written September 1982 and later published in HG Collected 1, Doghouse Press, 2000, is HG's sequel to RIAG

- O Yardley also wrote two sequels to HG's RIAG universe:
Zoetrope is newly archived
Some Things Never Change was already on the archive
I don't have dates for these, but I'd guess both were written in the mid 1980s (and circulated on the paper circuit, like RIAG itself)
Enjoy!

7:43pm: Author and stories added to Archive
I am absolutely thrilled and delighted to welcome HG to the Circuit Archive! It's an undreamed-of pleasure to be able to make her incredible body of Pros fanfiction available on the archive. And it's a large body of work, so I'll be archiving the stories and novels over time (and as I receive them).

I'll begin today with five stories, in no particular order:

- Flash Point, originally published in No Holds Barred 4, Kathleen Resch, May 1993  click for pairing )
- Head Start, originally published in Alter Egos 1, Doghouse Press, 1996, and reprinted in HG Collected 2, Doghouse Press, 2002  click for pairing )

2:12pm: Author and stories added to Archive
Just about all the rest of the drabbles posted for the April drabble challenge on [info]discoveredinalj have been archived.

Also, a quick note about the archive: While drabbles have always been assigned to the "Snippet/Poem" category, that category includes poems and very short pieces (well less than 1000 words) in addition to true, 100-word drabbles. In light of the recent proliferation of true drabbles, I've decided to identify them with the phrase "true drabble" in the "Notes" field. If you want to limit your search results to true drabbles, just type this phrase into the Notes field of the search page. I'm doing this on a going-forward basis (starting with the April drabble challenge); over time, I'll go back and identify previously-archived true drabbles the same way.

- Perfect Life, by Ankaree
- University, by Callisto
- Falling, Looking Out for Bodie, and Coming Home, by Hambel. Coming Home is a series of two separate drabbles - Coming Home and Being Home.
- Busted, by Krisser
- Deaf in the Afternoon and Ulrike, by Slantedlight
- Remember and Shades of Red, by Zoe
Ankaree is new to the Archive - welcome!

I think that just about does it for the April drabbles...if I missed yours, and you want it archived, please drop me a note.
