The energizer bunny strikes again
PS7 tutorial for this icon

Alright... first tutorial!! As you could see in my last post (which was 4 hours ago), I asked if anyone wanted tutorials for any icon I made, and [info]dina_the_lamp suggested this icon and another one (which I'm working on)... so here it is. I hope this will be easy for you guys since I don't usually make any sense... so I'll try to make this as easy as possible. And if you have problems following, there's a print screen of the finished layers at the bottom... so it can only help!!!

1. So first step, I created a new file. 100x100 pixels, resolution 72 pixels/inch.

2. I took this picture from Quintessence and resized it to 177x100 pixels.

3. Big secret of mine... because usually people crop the picture... well I think they do... but I don't... I choose Layers/Duplicate Layers and duplicate the picture to my 100x100 file (it will be named background copy).

4. I close my picture and start to work on my 100x100 file. I move my background copy around and find the right place I want it.
So far:

5. I duplicate the background copy and set it the duplicated version on Overlay.(The duplicated version will be called Background Copy 2). I choose my Background Copy 2 and Desaturate it (image/adjustement/desaturate), I also adjust the light because it's a bit dark... image/adjustement/brightness/contrast .
So far:

6. I now opened a "light texture" I made (click here to have it...). I duplicate it to my 100x100 file and set it between the background copies... and set it on pin light, opacity 60%.
So far:

7. I choose THIS TEXTURE from [info]wickedripeplum, I put it on screen mode and set it just above the previous light texture.
So far:

8. I than put this layer of dark blue on exclusion above Background copy 2. This will give the icon that yellow color...
So far:

9. I choose this light texture from [info]awmp, rotate it to 180° and put it on Overlay Mode. I actually erased the corner... so it looks more like this.
So far:

11. I duplicate that same light texture again and set it on Soft Light Mode.
So far: Image hosted by Photobucket.com

12. I duplicate that dark blue layer set on exclusion mode and put it above everything and then set the opacity to 50%.
So far: Image hosted by Photobucket.com

13. Then it's the text... I wrote Love (Font: Arriere Garde, 10 pts, av 600) and the power of love (Font: Copperplate Gothic Light, 2 pts, av 800)
Finished Icon:

Also, here's the print screen.

So, alright, that's all for tonight!! I hope you guys will find this tut helpful and play around with the different things I put here. And I'm sorry if some things weren't very clear, it's my first time at tutorials... but I'm working on another one, so, I will try to improve :P .

If you want other tutorials for any icon I made, I still have time to make some... so don't be shy, just ask, and I will do my best to help!! Thank you!!

ok I have a question. I have no clue how you make the text show up when you put your cursor over it.

and also do you have any tips/tutorials for Microsoft Picture It(cause thats what I use) or know where I can get any. Other than that programme all I have is Fireworks or summin (the macromedia one) :|
Thanks loads.

The mouse over thing is really easy to do! You just have to had alt="and your text here". Just a simple example <*img src="adress of image here" alt=" and the text here">.

And about the Microsoft Picture It tutorials and tips, well, I don't have any and I have no idea where you could find any because I never used that program. Sorry about that. I hope you can find something on the net...

Doesn't matter about the microsoft tips, I'll have a search around for some x

I've been trying to figure out how to do tiny text, and this is the first tutorial that isn't a brush. What's "av"? Probably a stupid question.
