jewelry request?
does anyone have 4g and/or 2g ear jewelry that they'd like to part with? ideally, this would be your old stuff that you've stretched beyond, and you'd like it to go to a good home. :)

it's long since time for me to go bigger, so i want to start stretching again and i'd much prefer to recycle/reuse then to go and out and buy new stuff.

please let me know if you can help!

if you're looking for some fun tonight...
check out the Hot 8 Brass Band tonight in Central Sq. for FREE (as opposed to their $25 show next week at the MFA)

July 10th, 2008
New Orleans’ own Hot 8 Brass Band will play in the Jill Brown Rhone Park at Lafayette Square from 6-8:30 PM on July 15. The Hot 8 Brass Band has epitomized New Orleans street music for over a decade. The band plays the traditional Second Line parades, hosted each Sunday afternoon by Social Aid and Pleasure Clubs, infusing their performances with the funk and energy that makes New Orleans music loved around the world. The members of the Hot 8 Brass Band were born and raised in New Orleans and many began playing together in high school. What makes the Hot 8 so special are the sounds they coax from their well-loved, well-worn horns. An evening with the Hot 8 is like no other…Hope to see you there!
Lafayette Square is near 401 Massachusetts Ave. and the Fire Station

if you're looking for some craziness this friday...
i was just reminded about this via myspace, but i learned about it this weekend from the organizer who is a good friend of [info]harm_city_heart. we'll be out of town on Friday, so we can't participate, but maybe some of you can!

Join the Moonlight Monster Parade!

Join the creatures of nightmare as we shamble through Boston by the light of the full moon, scaring the living daylights out of the uninitiated.

Create a costume (or perhaps simply remove the one you wear from day to day) that frightens you. At 8:19pm on the steps by the Boston Public Library, the Parade will begin! Winding its way through the streets of Boston, this cavalcade of nightmarish cavalry will pay visits to such well-known destinations as the Public Garden, Newbury Street, Faneuil Hall and The Children's Museum.

When:
Friday Jul 18, 2008
at 8:19 PM

Where::
Boston Public Library

firefly! soon!
i still have much to do, so i can't wait to get out of work today! not that this is different from any other day, but i am exceptionally antsy today.

tonight consists of running errands to shop for groceries and camping odds and ends, and then tomorrow we hit the road. with the we in question being myself, [info]fennel, and [info]harm_city_heart, all wedged into the car with all of our gear.

i'm so excited to be doing a bit more hard core camping, "roughing it" as some would call it (of course, it's burner-style roughing it which includes generators, beer kegs and lots blinky lights..but still, providing your own water counts as roughing it.). i've not been camping like this in far too long, and i miss doing it frequently throughout the summer. as i've been prepping for this, it has occurred to me that i don't think i've ever tented by myself. in all my years of boy scouts and recreational camping & hiking in college, i was always with a group and we always shared tents. it's not really that big of deal, but in it's way, i'm really looking forward to the experience. if only to have actually done it at least once.

not that i'm generally a rapid responder to things, but don't expect to hear from me after tomorrow morning.

for those of you going, see you in the woods!
