Do any of you have any tips on prolonging the battery life of an iPod? It's a Nano, so anything that involves not spinning the hard drive up or down is irrelevant.
I installed Firefox with Adblock Plus on my housemate's computer this evening. Going from IE6 to FF3 will be quite a jump. Taking over the world, one browser at a time...

I'm feeling very... I can't get motivated. I need... I don't know. I'm tired all the time again, and just feel very 'meh'.
I need seriously need to get motivated. I'm a chronic list writer, but then rarely follow up on it. So maybe I should do that... I'm rubbish at remembering to use a diary...
Bah. I'm just whining.
Looking forward to this weekend though. amanda_is_wacky and I at a Torchwood Con. *cheers*
amanda_is_wacky, tried to call you but then my phone died! So am charging it, and shall call you in a bit!

I am thankful for a father who shaped me. A mother who is my best friend. A family that loves me, unconditionally, and listens when I speak. For friends who wash the dishes. Send me LOLcats. Understand why I could need an entire room for a closet. For a boyfriend who is most proud of me when I'm kicking him out of the apartment. And who found me it in the first place. That I finally came to this city and had the strength to succeed. Even if it did take a little while.

My internet is back, but that is not what I am flailing about.
A Lion Among Men by Gregory Maguire-
The third extraordinary novel in Gregory Maguire's bestselling Wicked" series, featuring the beloved Cowardly LionAs civil war looms in Oz, an ancient and tetchy oracle named Yackle prepares for death. Before she can return to dust, however, the Cowardly Lion, an enigmatic figure named Brrr, arrives seeking knowledge about Elphaba Thropp, the Wicked Witch of the West - the woman who defended him when he was a cub. But Yackle, too, demands answers of her own.Brilliant and entertaining, A Lion Among Men" is another stellar work from the wildly imaginative and talented Gregory Maguire.
But they've released it in the newer cover. Which is annoying as it means I have Wicked in the musical cover, Son of a Witch in the original Maguire cover and I shall have Lion Among Men in the new cover. *annoying*

I now have JBoss installed. Local server isn't working, still, but we think we know what's causing that, will try again tomorrow.
I am feeling somewhat eh just now for reasons that are too non-specific to go into. I hate change, even when it probably won't happen. And right now most things in my life are going so well (apart from JBoss, of course) that I have a nagging feeling that it can't last. And I'm reduced to worrying about prospective changes that people have thrown out as hypotheticals in areas they have no control over. It's idiotic, why don't I worry about the economy if I have to worry about something?
Gakked from izhilzha. It's a long time since I did this last. Kind of shows, the example memes are all circa 2004.

...with the character of BJ Hunnicutt, and I'm so not feeling the Hunnicutt/Hawkeye love. Granted, one of the episodes was done in interview style and they never said a word to each other, but a couple of the episodes made me ship Hawkeye/Hotlips. Grr...I need the whole series. Waiting for the show to come on is killing me.
Anyway, as a follow up to the Character of the Day game... A Lily that was not mentioned... LILY MUNSTER!
A special thanks to Darcie for mentioning Radio Free Roscoe. I kind of love that show.

| Primeval drabbles: "Babysitting duty" & "Mock the sitter" (Lacey, Cutter) |
[12 Oct 2008|09:29pm] |

Title: Babysitting duty. Author: Keenir.
Reference & Author's note: I was minding my own business, trying to write nothing that wasn't part of the ficathons, when I see the images here...and Tanya starts talking to me again. (do that one more time, young lady, and I'll return to my original threat of having you narrate the ficathon entry)
Summary: It is Tanya's job to keep an eye on the captive Helen Cutter.
Author's note: I think Tanya keeps drawing the short straw. That's probably the only way to explain it. (though revenge may play a part)

translation: in American English, "sitter" is an abbreviation of "babysitter."
Summary: an empty beach and a comfy rock; the only downside is having been instructed to keep an eye on Helen Cutter, who's (one suspects) getting back for that offense to her bladder.
Author's note: I think Tanya keeps drawing the short straw. That's probably the only way to explain it.

adinarj has been doing this thing on her LJ called Character of the Day, and I think it's kind of fun.
I give you a name, and you come up with as many fictional characters with that name. (Pictures optional, but fun!)
Today's name is Lilly/Lily/Lilian/Lillian/Lily-Alice or any other form of Lily you can think of!

...because I am updating on FIREFOX.
FireFox 2.0, that is, because I updated to FireFox 3.0.3 and it SUCKS. Awesome Bar my ass. Anyone who has ever used my computer knows about all of my weird quirks with my URL bar. So, I went back to the old FireFox with the even older theme (FireFox 1.5 layout, bitches!), and now I am happy.
Anyway, I don't have much to say, really. I was just testing the post thing like I've done every day since it stopped working.

| And this was my Thursday. |
[10 Oct 2008|11:12am] |
Thursday was a good 90% SUCKTACULAR.
My training with Chapters. Well, here's the backstory. First, they told me I would be coming in on Thursday to meet another manager. They then told me I would come in on Tuesday to meet the manager and Thursday to start training. Then then changed it back to meeting the manager on Thursday. Okay. Either way, I expected meeting the manager to be more of a "here's what's going to happen!" than what it was.
A second first interview.
This "new" manager had not read my resume. She did not read the file the hiring manager had made on me. She didn't know if they were planning on hiring me or not or for what position. She didn't know if my references checked out. So, instead, she gave me a second first interview. With the exact same question list.
Yes, that's right. I went through the interview twice.
Now, granted. One of their managers, the one who I was supposed to be interviewing with, actually, called in sick last minute so there was one MOD instead of two. You know what a great idea is in that situation when you have your candidates home and cell phone number is? Call them to reschedule. Like you did, oh, twice already. They're going to at least be used to it.
Needless to say, I came home furious, booked a flight to Winnipeg for next weekend, stomped around a bit, and had two pints before bed.
GOOD NEWS: I have 101% in Drafting at the halfway mark. aka, I rule. My mom sent me an email saying it was okay and I could try harder next term. I love you, Mommy.
( Schedule over the next few days for my own sanity... )
