12:38p ouch.
http://ginnysanchez.com/nucleus/index.php?itemid=584 I was mowing my lawn, minding my own business, when BAM! I got a sharp pain in my ankle. I swatted at my ankle because it felt like I'd been bitten by something and sure enough, there's a hole in my lawn right by where I'd gotten bitten. It wasn't a snake, there's only one puncture wound, and it's smallish...but the swelling is happening rather fast with pain going up my leg.
I finished the lawn, and went back to the hole--an old rodent hole, too small for a rabbit, maybe a mole.
Then I saw the wasps. Two of them. Wasps have moved into the rodent hole. I must have been bitten by a wasp.
Damn wasps. That'll teach me to mow my lawn wearing shorts and ankle-high socks & sneakers.

Had to feed the dog[s] for Dad today. He's actually acquired another one.
He started looking after Mischief, the black labrador-cross, a few months ago as a favour for someone who was moving house. And she pretty much just moved in permanently. Lovely, lovely dog, always glad to see people, she'll do anything for a pat. She was unhealthily overweight, when Dad got her - her old family didn't really have time or the ability to take her for walks so I think they must have just given her food when she really wanted attention or interaction. Dad put her on a bit of a diet and she has a lot of space to run around so she looks a lot better now.
The rotund Jack Russell is the newest addition, Bonnie. She's about 7 years old, and has only just joined the family. Her and Mischief still have to sort out who is top dog, when I went to see Dad last night to meet Bonnie, she was growling a little at Mischief but otherwise they seem to be ignoring each other, or cagily sniffing bums. I had to laugh, Bonnie stopped and peed on one patch of grass this afternoon when I was feeding them, so of course Mischief pissed over the top of it straight away.
They'll sort it out eventually. They're not openly fighting, at least not that I've seen. Bonnie is being a bit grumpy, but she's probably still getting used to her new home.
Last night at Dad's Mischief was carrying on a bit and wanted pats from me as soon as I walked in the door. He reckons Mischief must really like me, I said it was probably because when I'm around it means FOOD!
Quiet day at home, apart from the trip to feed the dogs and annoy them with the camera. I was trying to get a good picture of Mischief being her usual buoyant self but she was a bit docile after she had her dinner. Her ears look a bit too big for her head, when she's jumping around or shakes her head they fly out and it's the funniest thing.

3:15a Max and the Marginalized Pushes the Margins
Originally published at life with kellybelly. Please leave any comments there. I got to see our good friend Max this past week… his band Max and the Marginalized played at Beat Kitchen. I took some photos… if I had known they wanted some good shots, I would have brought some better equipment. As it was, I ran out of film and got just a few semi-crappy shots.

Also, check this out… there’s an article about the band in today’s Washington Post:
Last year, Max Bernstein’s pop-rock band, the Actual, released an album, joined the Warped Tour and performed with supergroup Velvet Revolver.
Bernstein celebrated his most notable year in the music industry by breaking up the band and stage-diving into the broadside business.
His latest proffer is political protest songs — blunt musical statements about the Bush administration, abortion rights, Sen. John McCain’s position on Iraq, the mainstream media, civil liberties and such.
Make sure to check out the entire article.

3:13p City2Surf
Has anyone been able to register for the City2Surf online? Has anyone been able to do so in the last 24 hours or so? I've just tried entering on every browser I can get my hands on (IE7 and FF3 are two) and I go through putting all my details in and just get an empty screen for the checkout.
And then I go back to the homepage and smiling pictures remind me 'HURRY CLOSING SOON'.

just a smallish update for those who might be following my adventures in the realm of life of a little dragon.
spent a time with my folkses, twas good getting in touch with them, hanging around, and just generally do stuff like that, it was sad to see them go though, unsure when I'll get to see them again, if at all. had rabbit for dinner the other night, first time in aaaaaaaaaages, was a good feed, so yeah, something to remember for next time, that resteraunt we went to.
apart from that, life is pretty static at this point, I still haven't heard about what's going on with my accommodation and stuff yet, Not too worried at this point, but yeah, a little nervous 'bout stuff. don't wanna screw up the efforts I've been making for the last few weeks in order to improve and get better.
other then all that stuff, I've sorta got a little worried what's been going on in the community that I've not seen, mostly because of the mess that happened at the last house, given that the folks I lived with weren't exactly kind enough to keep their mouth's shut regarding my flaws to everyone else, I fear that I'm getting treatment similar to muskie, bendertiger, and all those others who get badmouthed regularly from various angles with the whole 'you're not a nice person' bitchyness that seems to fill the world, Kinda worried that I'll have to start all over again with friend making and trying to get people to talk to me when I finally manage to get back online...
oh well, time to wrap it up, time's a wasting, and stuff

I'm to the point where I'm seriously considering signing up for a service like bookswim.com because at least then I can get the books I want without driving 50 miles and running into problems returning them. Tooele Library, I really wish you'd actually BUY books once in a while. This four books a month crap in fiction is getting old.

I'm really tired of the local library. They sell more books than they have in circulation - even if someone donates boxes upon boxes of books they don't have to lend to patrons, they just sell em for a quarter. I wish I could go into Salt Lake and get books there... the ones I want I'll never see in the next year to two years on PaperbackSwap. I still owe em a lot of money from Joe and I's last period here so paying them is a priority for me, if only I could get out to Salt Lake. Been in the shop since Maggie broke her leg.
Actually, that's legs. She broke her left ankle and her right leg in two places. All from stepping off of a 2" step wrong.
*sighs* oh well, at least I can find most of the stuff I need for the wedding online. Finally found the clutch and shoes today at endless.com, so now all I have left is the slip and that'll come from the local bridal store as I can take my dress there and try on various fullnesses of slips before picking one out.
Now if only I could book the damn airfare...

9:48p It's a tough job, but someone had to do it.
http://ginnysanchez.com/nucleus/index.php?itemid=583 Today was Dining Deals day, where we meet with a restaurant that we will be featuring for Dining Deals the next week. My job is to taste the offerings with the morning show hosts, and then write the ad copy that they respective hosts will be using in the coming week. The idea behind it is that listeners can then go to our web site, and buy $100 certificates for $50. Not a bad deal, considering our economy--you can still get a classy night out at a great restaurant without breaking the bank.
...but if you ever wonder "Why is Ginny so chubby when she does so much stuff?" This is part of the reason.
Today our conference room was decked out in Grand Style by the Stone House, located over in Warren, NJ. The food was magnificent, but then again...so was the booze. They brought a full complement of unique drinks for us to try. My favorite was a drink made with elderberry liquor, and they actually told us about the little old man who goes out on donkey back to pick the berries.
Don't believe me? Here's photographic proof:

I demolished every drink in the foreground of this picture.

MMM-MMM!

Oh yeah...there was food, too.
...and if I do say so myself, it was the finest ad copy I've written to date, thanks to elderberries and little old men on donkeyback.

6:06p ClassicCloseouts.com Fraudulent Charges: Update
An update to the fraudulent credit card charges I received from classiccloseouts.com. . .
Since I still haven't gotten any response at all from classiccloseouts.com, and they've now passed the deadline I set for them, I submitted a dispute for the charge with my credit card company (Discover Card) as a fraudulent charge.
I'm going to follow-up and file reports with IC3.gov, the FTC, the BBB, etc., now. I've seen postings all over about this going on for at least a couple of months now, and these guys need to be held liable (criminally) for this fraudulent behavior.
