What a week it has been in the news and this week is already starting out big. Democratic Convention last week and now the Republican Convention this week or what will be of it since they are shortening it due to Hurricane Gustav. I have been watching all of the hurricane updates on CNN today and so far it looks like New Orleans has not been hit as hard. It was also my 46th Birthday this past week. I had a quiet birthday. Went out to dinner with friends. Tomorrow is back to school day here for the kids and so no more kids clogging the elevators in my building at all hours and no more screaming from the pool below. I am on the 15th floor, but because of the courtyard I can hear all the screaming and all the major noise that takes place below. The weather this summer has been so horrible that you never know what to do next. It has been rainy almost every day. Planning has been near impossible. Oh well the grass, trees and flowers have been truly beautiful this summer so there is one silver lining. |

Not much new since my last update really. Was made employee of the month at work and that was cool although nothing came out of it other than my mug shot I mean photo up on the wall. Too bad no had any darts! Off to another convention this weekend and am taking four days off which is cool. This summer is flying by. My Birthday is in 7 weeks. Not really looking forward to being that much closer to 50! |

I had a horrid night Tuesday at work not survey wise, but emotionally. I was walking in the hall going to the elevator to take down to the mall to have my break and meet a friend who I always take my break with as I hate the cafeteria at work since it is always dirty. This guy who works three desks down from me sees me and he usually never says much to me, but today he says to my face seems they are hiring a lot more Jews here. He then said I knew there were loads of Muslims, I did not know there were this many Jews. He knows I am Jewish as I do not hide it. I wear my Star Of David to work as I also wear it everywhere else. Anyway I went on my break and was not going to say anything to anyone as I was ready to ignore him and just slough it off. However, I got back from break and Danny a work friend who often sits next to me or nearby was two desks down tonight and next to the guy and he came to me and said you are not going to believe what the guy (Stanley the guy that told me that crap in the hall) was doing? I looked over and we both saw him drawing swastikas all over his scrap papers. So Danny said he would go in the office and make a complaint to back me if I wanted to say something since I already told him what happened earlier. I told Danny yes because of some earlier remarks the guy said and this was not right. So I placed a complaint to my team leader (Matt) who asked me to come into the boss's (Josh) office and repeat it. After they talked to Danny. Stanley was sent home after that as Matt caught him also drawing the offensive symbols. Apparently they will be firing him. They asked me if I needed the rest of the night off and I said no as I was having a good night survey wise and besides I am thick skinned. I also told them what my Mother went through as a teen in Toronto in the 1930's and 1940's was way worse so I would be fine. Now of course it has hit me more. Oh well I will live. Just need hugs! This is the first time anyone has ever said anything like that to me!
Part II
Update about work and my problems with that guy. The guy had to go and talk to Josh my boss who confronted him regarding the incidents.
Incident 1: The statement made to me in the hall.
He denied.
Incident 2: The swastika drawings. Get this he claimed he was writing his thesis on hatred and started drawing them by accident subconsciously because he was under stress. Um ya sure! Right!
Josh said 3 people caught him on the second incident. Me, Danny and a Team Leader (Matt).
Josh fired him as he did not believe him besides he feels with all the people at work who are Visual Minorities, Jewish, Muslim etc. He wanted to take no further chances of anyone feeling as emotionally hurt as I was. Besides discrimination of any sort is not tolerated at all at work. It is in the Canadian Charter Of Rights and any break that is found to be true means instant dismissal.
Part III
I have been in major pain all week um when am I not? Anyway I have had menstrual cramps from hell, but no period and my first hot flash. UGH I am getting old! Top that of course with my Arthritis pain and everything else. TMI. Sorry!
Part IV
All this and of course it is Mother's Day on Sunday which is also the anniversary of my Dad's Death. Actually he died May 12th, but I always consider the anniversary of his death being on Mother's Day since the year he died, May 12th was Mother's Day!
Tonight is my bowling banquet so I am going out soon to get my hair cut and a manicure and pedicure. Need some love and pampering. Then I have to come home and colour my hair and get dressed up! I think a few trips to the bar are in order for me tonight. |

Have been in huge amounts of pain lately at work because of my hands so went to the doctor and as I expected the diagnosis was not great. I have Arthritis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and also Tendonitis in my hands and wrists. So I am now wearing hand braces whenever I am on the computer and also sleeping since my hands were going numb a lot when asleep. Work continues to go well although still awaiting to see if the art gallery will hire me. I got another raise two weeks ago. Had the best job review they have ever seen there. I also beat my record of 17 surveys in one day by getting 18 last week in one day. |

It is almost Christmas and as usual it is not the happiest time of the year for me. I used to get all giddy and excited around now for the holidays and all the hustle and bustle. Not anymore. It would have been Dad's Birthday on December 20 and it was a Birthday he shared with his Sister. Mom died eleven months after Dad so this holiday like so many is very hard. My Stepmom does not help. That is a whole nother story! At work the other night everyone was all excited about the Holiday party next week and all I could say to Nancy (My friend at work) was I wish I could just work through the party. Especially since they are making us work that night anyway all except for time off for dinner (Pizza) big whoop and a raffle! Not my idea of a big party! Hopefully at least the Diner's Christmas Party next week will be fun and get me out of this funk! I also have a party to go to tomorrow! Tis the season as I said! |

Had a weird day today. I was spending the day on the computer tinkering around which I rarely do anymore with my work schedule and with everything I do. Also had to write an article due on the 15th and which I have been procrastinating on. Those who know me know it is not usually in my nature to procrastinate. Anyway I was tinkering on Facebook which is my addiction du jour right now , doing odds and sods and playing Scrabulous and chatting online when I suddenly got really cold. I was also searching online for some stuff on the ship Dad served on during WWII which is especially eerie with what happened after and with the cold feeling I got a feeling I got the day Dad died and the day Mom died. Anyway just in case it is only a feeling I was getting because I am also getting over a bad cold from last week, I turned up the heat and put on heavy sweater and socks. Then I got the call. My friend Adrienne called. Her Dad passed away this afternoon. He was in good health however, today he had a massive heart attack and died. She was in the car with her husband coming here from Detroit. So I chatted with her for a long time. The funeral will be this week so I will need to rearrange my schedule a bit somehow not an easy task at the hellhole I work in....If it is Wednesday which I really hope it is then I have that day off as it is my bowling night. |

I am so happy because when I loaded Windows XP on my system I lost my copies of PSP and also Animation Shop.. Well I got new versions of both programs and now I am so happy because I can now make cool graphics again!!!!!!!!!! I now need to looking for some other tools like Eye Candy and some other filters to use with the program. My friend Kellie gave me a whole bunch of new graphics also. Thanks Kellie and also Nicole for giving me PSPX!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it is October tomorrow already!!!!!!!!!!!!! The weather here is still very warm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

It is now almost 1 week past my Birthday and it is September already!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where does time go? Had a nice Birthday. My friend Kellie came down from Ottawa and we did an action packed 4 day quickie trip through Toronto and did it on a shoestring budget to boot. My other friend Adrienne came in or should I say breezed in from Detroit for a few days also. I managed to see her the night of my party at the Midtown Restaurant which was a blast thanks to many friends who showed up. You guys are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also went to my Stepmom's for lunch and she made the most scrumptious salmon. My Brother Jonathan turned 40 this week so we celebrated his Birthday also. Hard to believe my little Brother is 40 although I really have a hard time saying little Brother since he is 6 foot 8. Searching for some tutoring work since my job at the College is gone and have applied to a few places. Need to get on the ball on that. Money is tight. |

My birthday is looming fast and furious this year and I really am in no rush for it to come. I turn 45 and that is not making me happy. This means I am one year closer to being half a century old. Yuck! My friend Kellie is coming here for a visit from Ottawa and I am glad about this. Have been trying for years to get her to come here for a visit. I am seriously thinking of taking the Friday and Monday off of work that week of my Birthday since I really am not sure I want to work on my Birthday. Oh well since I do not get paid for it I will have to decide that very soon. I have till Monday to contemplate it. |

I am sitting here at a friends place posting as I am house sitting for two weeks. A lot has happened to me since I last posted. My job at the College ended because the owner embezzled money from the franchise. So both his and his wife's branches closed. They do not teach the course at any other branch of the College so I was SOL. (Shit Out Of Luck). I got a job at Roger's however, sales do not suit me so of course I hated it. I am coasting on the job at the Call Centre for now and have added shifts so I am basically almost there full time. I should be getting a raise there at any time also since I am about to get my performance review and I know it will be good. |

I will going on holidays shortly to Washington DC for 10 days from June 1-10. Staying with close friends there and looking forward to the trip sooo much!
I recently had my bowling banquet and got my hair and nails done before the dinner. I looked good if I say so. Here is a pic taken by a friend just before I went to the dinner.

I know I know another month has passed and no posts. Slap me with 100 wet noodles!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway I work 13 hrs a day most days and when I am not at work I need to catch up on much needed sleep. Anyway I have managed to string 3 days off in a row together this weekend thank goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooo looking forward to my holidays from June 1--10. I am going to Washington DC for the entire 10 days. I will be renting a cottage there with 11 other friends from a group I belong to online. Some of us have met and some have not. Then for the other 7 days I will be staying in the DC area and visiting the sites. I am sooo excited! |

I know I have not updated in ages. No a lot has happened to me however, I am usually too busy or too tired to post here. I got a raise at the call centre and benefits!!!!!!!!!! So I went and got new glasses. I now feel rather old since I got bifocals! Yuck. Oh well. Today I went to the pharmacy and got my medications for my Arthritis and also my Allergy as well as my Asthma refilled which I could not afford to until I got my tax return this week. I will be taking Phoenix to the vet tomorrow for her annual needles. Then I am going to Ad Astra for the afternoon and evening. I think ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) handful_ofdust is doing a reading??? I will bring the DVD's I was telling you about and see if you want to borrow them. It will be nice to get the money back for my glasses and meds. I want to get an Ipod and also a digital camera. I am going to Washington DC for a week in June and would love to have the new camera. Oh well I better hit the hay soon! |

Spent the day sleeping in till 11:00 then went to visit my friend handful_ofdust and her husband Steven as well as Cal this afternoon. Callum was very engaging today as he counted to 10 for me and jumped around a lot in his crib. One of his favourite activities seems to be just that, climbing into his crib and jumping like a little Mexican jumping bean. He also spent considerable time reading books and chatting to himself happily. Dinner was absolutely yummy! Thanks guys! Now I am watching one of the two movies she lent me which is on the life of Leni Reifenstahl. I am enjoying it thoroughly! |

Happy Belated Thanksgiving to my American friends!!!!!!!!! Not much to report here really.....I worked yesterday and tonight for a while however, no one was getting surveys either nights really except for a few of us. I managed to get one both nights and so my boss loves me. It was extremely hard since we were phoning the US. Not sure why they wanted to put us through the torture of phoning people to do financial surveys when all people wanted to do was dig into yams and turkey!!!!!!!! Oh well. I decided to take Sunday off as well as my usual Saturday......I will go tomorrow to get my hair cut and then come home and colour it. On Sunday I am meeting my old boss at the One Of A Kind Craft Show as the kids want to see me again and have not seen me in ages. Teaching at the College continues to go well. The students I have now are good although they really ought to accept students with a better command of the English language for the course. I will just have to do more work when we do the Communications portion of the course. |

Hi all.....I have not updated in eons and so I really needed to get in here and dust the cobwebs left by the gremlins last night......What is new? Hmmmm not much really and that is part of the reason for no updates. I have been living such a boring life. It would almost be bordering on monastic if it were not for something called work getting in the way. LOL! Anyway work is going well. I have 3 new students which makes 5 now and 2 will be leaving in one week for their work placement. Halloween is over and I am glad because it is just not the same anymore as the way I remember it. Remember when it was not so commercial????? The disgusting part of it being over though is the fact that I heard a Christmas commercial already on TV last night!!!!!!!!! Give me a blasted break!!!!!!!!!!!!! The malls will not be far behind!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes me ill!!!!!!!!!! |
