Kansas City this weekend I made the soundtrack for the first feature film by video artist & photographer Laurel Nakadate. It's called Stay The Same Never Change. I also acted in (it for about five seconds), drew some pictures for it & helped edit it. Laurel & I have been working on this thing for a long time & it's finally done & I'm really proud of it. The movie is premiering in Kansas City THIS WEEKEND (it was filmed there). There is a preview screening at the Screenland Crossroads Theater at 7pm on Thursday, January 31, & then the opening opening plus opening reception are at 6pm on Friday, February 1 at Grand Arts. Laurel & I will also be leading a gallery discussion on Saturday, February 2 at 2pm at Grand Arts. I guess that means we will be sitting on folding chairs & you can ask us serious questions about our work which we will answer slowly & thoughtfully between sips of bottled water. If you can make the opening, Stay The Same Never Change will be playing at Grand Arts until March 15. After that, I don't really know what will happen. You can download the movie's press release here: http://www.cftpa.org/NakadatePR.pdf | | Friday, January 25th, 2008 | | 11:11 am |

January 2008 Pacific Northwest Tour & Springsteen Tribute In January 2008, People In A Position To Know Recordings, Inc. will release a Casiotone for the Painfully Alone and Concern collaborative Bruce Springsteen tribute single. This vinyl only release is a two song, square, one-sided 8 3/8" vinyl single in a full color 9" sleeve. 500 copies are being pressed on brown marble vinyl, and 500 copies are being pressed on tan marble vinyl. Here is the record's tracklisting: 1. Born In The U.S.A. 2. Streets of Philadelphia This release was previously advertised as being part of PIAPTK's Limited Edition Vinyl Subscription Series. Concern (i.e. my brother Gordon) and I will be embarking on a short Pacific Northwest January 2008 tour to celebrate the release of this collaboration. We will have copies of our record available for sale at all the shows, as well as copies of the David Horvitz Picture Disc 7" on Aagoo Records. You can preview tracks from both of these releases right now at www.myspace.com/cftpa. The remix is for a song called "I Don't Mind" and it's only available on a limited edition 12" on Dudley's own Golden Retriever label. There were only 200 copies pressed, so if you want one, you'd better be quick about it. P.S. For this show, I'm going to try to play a bunch of old songs that people sometimes request and I usually have to say "Uh, I don't remember how it goes" or "Uh, that keyboard broke" or "Uh, no" to. If you are ACTUALLY COMING TO THE SHOW and there is some old ass song that you really really really want to hear, please let me know so I can practice it once or twice. Thanks!!! | | Tuesday, November 13th, 2007 | | 11:11 am |
