How I am spending my Sunday.

I'm serving up this

Use cava, which is the Spanish sparkling wine. However, if you want to use French Champagne you can (however you are mixing it up with fruit, so no need to go high end with this (a waste of fine bubbly).

Ingredients
3oz triple sec
3oz brandy
2oz rum
2oz vodka
1 cup strawberries, blended
chopped up fruit as desired (apple, mango, tangerine, pear, peach)
1 bottle Cava (Sparkling Wine)

Mix together all ingredients except the sparkling wine and let it sit overnight if you can, or at least for a little while to soak up the flavors. Add in the sparkling wine just before serving, so that it doesn't go flat. Enjoy!

Blind Taste Test #11

Let your feelings be known. Feel free to guess, speculate, what ya like, don't like, etc, or even ask questions, ask for clues, but the point is to reveal what you think...you know, on the tunes.

If you are 100% sure of who this is, don't be the bad apple that spoils it for the rest of us (but feel free to express crude, gut feelings or to show off our ability to compare mysterious sounds to obscure sounds that only the likes of us can comprehend). Don't be afraid. Please offer your unbiased opinion of the following tracks/artist. Those with the biggest balls will contribute first.

Not sure what reasons prevented me from revealing who the artist was behind the two songs posted for Blind Taste 10 were, but I am doing so today. There is no reason to ponder anymore. The selections come from Good Taste Is Timeless.

If you are 100% sure of who this is, don't be the bad apple that spoils it for the rest of us (but feel free to express crude, gut feelings or to show off our ability to compare mysterious sounds to obscure sounds that only the likes of us can comprehend). Blind Taste Test #9 Revealed: Alice Cooper

Head back to 1969 for Pretties For You, the debut recording of Alice Cooper, recorded on the Frank Zappa Staight label. The CD and the original album, is currently out of print (although a decade or so ago it was released in a way befitting such a classic along with their second and last album for Straight, “Easy Action” by Restless/Retro). This is inexcusable. Because this is a full blown rockin’, messy psych mindfuck and things like that should be ALWAYS be accessible.

Now that the identity has been revealed, your views are still welcome.

Your blind taste tunes:

1) Today Mueller

2) Living

Other Pretties For You tracks:

Reflected (this would later be reworked into "Elected" for the 1973 Billion Dollar Babies album)

Levity Ball (a live version of this tune is on Pretties For You, this is the "unreleased" studio version)

Blind Taste Test * Revealed: Van Duren

Van Duren is pure power pop. He spent time in the Memphis trenches with the big boys (Big Star, Chris Bell, The Scruffs), and knows his way around a hook and a melody as well as any of his heroes from Todd Rundgren, McCartney, Emitt Rhodes and on to Badfinger. He went to high school with Jody Stephens, auditioned for Big Star after Bell's departure, and was in the short-lived but legendary Baker Street Regulars with both those cats. If you think Big Star never got the props they deserved, well they're The Beatles compared to Mr. Duren. “I've called his two albums "the two best power pop albums not called Radio City" in print. His music is the equal of his Memphis contemporaries, Big Star, who have since become one of the two most influential cult bands of all time. “-Kent Benjamin, Pop Culture Press.

“Van Duren was part of the early Memphis power pop scene that spawned the legendary Big Star, and made several underexposed, small-label records during the late '70s. Duren began playing in bands at the age of 13 in 1966 and attended high school with eventual Big Star drummer Jody Stephens; he auditioned to replace Chris Bell in Big Star in 1974, shortly after the completion of Third/Sister Lovers. In 1975, he and Stephens collaborated on some demos that were produced by former Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham (whom he met through producer Jon Tiven), and a year later he was playing in a group called the Baker Street Regulars with both Bell and Stephens. In 1977, Duren traveled to New England to record for Tiven's new Big Sound label; his solo debut, Are You Serious?, was released in March 1978.”-AMG

Blind Taste Test #7 Revealed: Clinic

The Clinic hail from Liverpool, England and have issued four decent recordings. If you like the focused melding of garage, art rock, Krautrock, surf, and any other left-field genre you'd care to mention. They create some disorientating and utterly compelling music.

Views and thoughts on the songs, what ya like, don't like..etc on the band, the songs, their look and anything related are welcome still.

They blind taste tune.
